Though John Wesley struggled with assurance his entire life, when he was on his deathbed, he proclaimed that God is with us. The author of the gospel of John writes words of assurance in the final verses saying that Jesus did many signs, but these were written so that you might believe and have life. How will we live in such a way that the whole of our lives reveals Christ to others and proclaims this same assurance?

John Wesley taught us to do as much good in the world as we can, to everyone, at all places and in all times. On a weekend like this when we are remembering Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his prophetic ministry, this seems like a tall order. However, God makes it possible for us to do good in the world. Jesus says he is the vine and we are the branches. We are to bear fruit in the world by abiding in God's love and sharing that love with one another. When we abide in Christ, we are manifestations of Christ in the world.
