Description

We’re a bitchin’ group of guys from Ohio who love long walks on the beach and Nicolas Cage. With nearly 50 episodes and 5000 downloads, we’ve been your lifeline to the Cinematic Cageverse since 2018. Steve, Shawn and myself (Cagefighter Reece) attempt to review EVERY Nic Cage film in existence and BATTLE over which movies are awarded eternal rest in our Bee Cage of Fame. Our winners so far are Birdy (1984), Vampire’s Kiss (1988), and Con Air (1997). While we poke some fun at Cage’s CRAZIER roles and real-life antics, we also give due credit to our favorite Oscar-winning actor who has now appeared in over 100 films -- plus you’ll hear our own personal stories and misadventures. Find us at NicCageFight.com or email us at [email protected]. Suffering from a Cage Overdose? Check out our sub-series within this podcast titled ”CAGELESS” where we discuss our favorite movies not featuring our lord and savior. CAGE OUT! Matchstick Men Review for Budding Cage Artists
2025/09/02
If you're reading this, you've been conned. That's because we watched Matchstick Men (2003) and were conned into talking about it on this podcast. Okay, okay... it was the next movie on the list. We dissect this Ridley Scott crime/thriller in which Jolly St. Nic plays a con artist named Roy Waller whose teenage daughter conveniently pops back into his life right when he and his buddy are about to pull off the biggest con since Deadfall! (No face frying in this one.) Of course, we've also got Nic Cage news, The Nic List, a discussion of 90s heist movies, and our final ratings. Check it out! Our next Nic Cage film review will be the always meme-able National Treasure (2004). 2025/07/25
Did you know Nicolas Cage wore a FAT SUIT in the movie Adaptation (2002)? Sonny Review - We Talk About Sex
2025/06/13
Our Cagefighters return for a super sexy ménage à trois to discuss Nicolas Cage's Sonny (2002). Although Cage appears briefly, he's been handed the DIRECTOR'S CHAIR from which he's ordering James Franco an all-you-can-f*ck buffet! YUM! That's right: Nic Cage's one and only directed film is full of steamy sex, withering dreams, and mommy issues. So, kick back and listen to us talk about anime and sex (in that order), followed by a deep dive into Sonny and what we think the film says about Nic Cage as an artist.  07:00 - Anime We're Watching 16:22 - Reece's Sex Labyrinth Story 22:40 - Shawn's New Orleans Sex Story 27:42 - The Nic List  33:46 - Movie Discussion 1:07:40 - Our Ratings Our next Nic Cage film review will be Adaptation (2002). ---------------------------------------- Hey, have you noticed we're AD FREE? Nic Cage vs. Windtalkers Movie Review
2025/05/28
We're talking Nic Cage in Windtalkers from 2002: a patriotic reunion with director John Woo that promises massive explosions, stabbings, friendly fire, psychological trauma, racism, and more confusion about who to kill on the WWII battlefield. We also find the historical accuracy to be a bit suspect. Join us Cagefighters as we dive deep into the story and production of Windtalkers, our reviews of the film, and of course some spicy, bee-tastic Nicolas Cage news!  Our next film review will be Sonny (2002): Nic Cage's directorial debut starring James Franco. Captain Corelli's Mandolin (a.k.a. Time to Kill 2) Review
2025/05/08
Nicolas Cage demonstrates how to win over a town after invading, pillaging and forcing yourself on to the doctor's sexy daughter. How, you ask? JUST PLAY THEM THE MANDOLIN! Don't miss our sizzling review of Captain Corelli's Mandolin (2001) about Italians, Greeks and Germans trying to find companionship in the downtime between the murder that's happening because it's WWII. Nic Cage stars as Captain Corelli opposite Penelope Cruz, whose character becomes incredibly confused after her husband, played by Christian Bale, suddenly returns from the war he'd joined to die and reincarnate as Batman -- only to find out he's been replaced by a steamy hunk with a mandolin! So romantic and sensual. Hey, why are people suddenly getting their limbs blown off? As always, we discuss Nicolas Cage news followed by a review of this cinematic wonder. Like what we're doing? Follow us on Facebook and visit niccagefight.com Our next Nic Cage review will be Windtalkers (2002).
The Cotton Club Encore Review - THEY FINALLY WATCHED IT!
2025/04/09
We FINALLY watched Uncle Francis Coppola's 2019 RECUT of The Cotton Club! The OG film was first discussed in Season 1 Episode 4 of Late Night Cage Fight. However, Cagefighter Steve famously refused to watch it. That all changed tonight, friends. How does the new cut compare? More tap-dancing, mobster shoot-outs... MORE JAZZ? Take a journey with us back to 1930-something as we discuss our thoughts on this restored musical crime drama starring Richard Gere, Diane Lane, and NICOLAS CAGE! That's right... he's in it too!   Our next Nic Cage review will be Captain Corelli's Mandolin (2001).
Our 50th Episode - Valley Girl Retrospective
2025/02/06
It's our 50th episode, and we're celebrating with a retrospective of Nicolas Cage's first film (credited as Cage) "Valley Girl"! We watched the 2003 mini-documentary "20 Totally Tubular Years Later," featuring interviews with Cage, his co-stars, and the creators of the 1980s classic. If that's not enough Cage, we also wax poetic on Nic Cage's continued influence on our lives and podcast. If you've been with us for awhile, we invite you to listen to this candid -- and slightly unhinged -- 50TH EPISODE!! Viva El Cage!!

We go deep like the snap-happy creatures in Arcadian, and then we get WEIRD with our extensive discussion of Cage as a serial killer in Longlegs. There are many surprises in this episode, so give it a listen. And check back for more Nicolas Cage movie review episodes COMING SOON! Find us at niccagefight.com. Gone in 60 Seconds (A Cage Circumcision)
2024/07/23
You wouldn't steal a car. You wouldn't steal the Declaration of Independence. You definitely wouldn't illegally download Gone in 60 Seconds from the high seas and review it for science and/or comedy. Yes, you guessed correctly. We the Cagefighters review Nicolas Cage's first film of the 21st century -- his car heist smash hit that feels forever stuck in the 90s. Did we like it? Did we love it? Listen and find out. But make it quick, I can hear the fuzz coming.
Caging Out the Dead
2024/06/19
Nicolas Cage teams up with Martin Scorsese to create one of the weirdest works of EMT fiction to ever hit the big screen. We're talking about 1999's "Bringing Out the Dead," which stars Cage as a burned-out paramedic in Manhattan who is haunted by the patients he failed to save. On the plus side, he does get to drink and do drugs on the job, so we're really not sure what he's complaining about. If only SOMEONE would FIRE HIM, DAMMIT! Just like our next episode, that apparently must wait until next week. Next up will be our review of "Gone in 60 Seconds." Find us at niccagefight.com
