Tony and longtime collaborator Matt Rudy sit down with Richard Hughes — an optometrist, sports vision researcher, and author of Visual Edge Golf Performance — to unpack something almost nobody talks about in golf instruction: eye dominance. Richard breaks down "type one" vs. "type two" dominance, why 53% of the best players in the world (including Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods) are cross-dominant compared to just 30% of the general population, and why forcing a player into a "textbook" setup can wreck a swing that their eyes have quietly compensated for over years. Includes a simple test you can do at home to find your own dominant eye. Tony and Jackson spend a day at Dutchman's Pipe working with a full slate of tour players headed into Q-school season — Rafa Campos, Ty Gingrich, James Earl, and more — and break down the four things that actually move the needle, for tour pros and weekend golfers alike: dialing in posture and setup, building a real pre-shot process, learning not to react to every miss, and actually understanding what you're working on and why. Plus Colby's "electric fence" drill for fixing early extension, and a great story about keeping junior golf in perspective. This week Tony is joined by Coach Justin Parsons — mentor to Ben Carr, Brandon Grace, Blades Brown, and Lucas Glover — on a Golf Live discussion to break down how tour players actually build their wedge game. Forget chasing perfect distances: JP walks through the "15-foot rule" (why even the best players on tour average just 15 feet from the hole inside 150 yards), how to build a wedge system around 5-yard gaps instead of guessing, and the "3 L rule" for reading any short game shot — Lie, Land, Leave. Plus a great story about a young player learning the hard way that temperature and altitude change everything. This week on Tour Coach: the one word that fixes more golf games than any swing tip ever will — awareness. Tony sits down with longtime PGA Tour caddie Donald "Coop" Cooper, instructor Wayne Flint, and a PGA Tour mental performance coach Dr. Greg Cartin ("Doc") at Dutchman's Pipe to break down why most golfers don't struggle from bad mechanics — they struggle from not knowing what they're actually capable of. From knowing your real carry distances to understanding your start line to why "it's just a 4-iron" has ruined more rounds than any bad swing, this one applies whether you're a 30-handicapper or a tour pro. What does a tour-level coach actually see when an everyday golfer swings the club? In this week's Tour Coach, Tony Ruggiero sits down live from The Creek Club in Locust Valley, New York after a full day of teaching members alongside Morgan Hale, Jackson Koert, and others. The roundtable digs into the mistakes almost every amateur golfer repeats, how a great coach finds the one fix that actually changes ball flight, and the practice habits that separate golfers who improve from golfers who stay stuck. You will hear why simplifying beats a swing overhaul, why watching great teachers work is the fastest way to grow as a coach, how to tell whether a golfer physically cannot make a move or simply does not know how, the Paul Azinger wedge system for owning 30 to 70 yards, the practice hack almost no amateur will use (tee up your iron shots), and the three by five card trick that makes every lesson stick. Plus a shout out to Shuby after a big win in India. Sponsored by StayCay. In this lesson, Tony Ruggiero from The DewSweeper joins forces with Conner Luke to break down the most common mistakes recreational golfers make, specifically lateral slide and poor balance. Learn actionable drills using the Pivot Pack—including band-assisted/resisted turns, single-leg stability exercises, and the "punching drill"—to help you build a solid foundation, stabilize your lower body, and finally get that low point in front of the ball. Whether you are a weekend warrior or looking to sharpen your technique, these fundamentals are designed to help you strike the ball more solidly every time. In this episode of the Tour Coach Podcast on DewSweepers TV, professional golfer Andy Ogletree joins the show to discuss his recent experiences on tour and share valuable insights into his approach to the game. He talks about how taking a step back and prioritizing rest can benefit performance, and delves into the critical role that a strong mental game, optimism, and fundamental consistency play in sustaining a long professional career. Andy also outlines his strategy for transitioning into a more simplified, one-dimensional style of play following a wrist injury, explaining why minimizing errors is key to successful course management. He offers a breakdown of his specific preparation routines for practice rounds, including how he analyzes wind conditions and past data to avoid surprises during a tournament. Additionally, he provides an in-depth look at his highly structured putting practice, detailing the exact training tools and drills he uses daily to keep his stroke reliable. Finally, Andy reflects on the unique lessons, focus, and work ethic he observed firsthand while spending time around golf legends Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. Dutchman's Pipe near Lexington, Kentucky for a "DewSweeper Escape" retreat weekend. Guests include PGA Tour caddy legend Coop (Donald Cooper), Bluebell Country Club director of instruction Conner Luke, Tour Coach podcast regular David Perkins (fresh off a medical and getting back to competing on the Korn Ferry Tour), and golf writer Matt Rudy. The conversation covers the unglamorous truth about tournament golf: boring golf is good golf. They break down why managing a bad round—turning a potential 78 into a 69 or 70—separates the best from everyone else, why missing the green with a wedge or making a triple bogey is the real killer, and how elite players like Scotty Scheffler obsess over the smallest details (like a half-inch grip adjustment) while also staying coachable and open to refinement. Coop shares caddy wisdom about decision-making under pressure and the "chess game" mentality. They dig into how coaches now have to be "concierges" filtering the firehose of Instagram tips and golf content, and discuss the difference between a rigid system and a belief structure. They also riff on Gwen Stefani, Rod Stewart vs. Madonna, and what separates a plus-3 handicap from a Korn Ferry Tour player. On this episode of Tour Coach, Tony Ruggiero sits down with Austin Hitt — fresh off a trip to "Mo Vegas" (Mobile, AL) — for a wide-ranging conversation on what actually separates good players from great ones. Austin breaks down the mental side of competitive golf: why belief in yourself might be 80-90% of the battle, how he uses money games and putting contests to simulate real tournament pressure, and the lesson from his college teammate Ben Griffin that changed his approach to practice (and his golf clubs) for good. They also dig into stories about PGA Tour players Ryan Gerard, Ben Griffin, and Rafa Campos, talk through Austin's approach to hitting fairways off the tee, and get into why Austin runs his junior camps with one hard rule: no dickheads allowed. Tony Ruggiero sits down with Jackson Koert — one of the sharpest young teachers in the game — to dig into one of the most overlooked parts of club fitting: wedges. Most golfers grab one off the shelf and hope for the best. Tony and Jackson break down why that's costing you strokes, how to get properly fit starting in the bunker, and why the grind and bounce on the bottom of your club matters more than you think. Then, Tony goes back into the archives and dusts off a classic segment from the old DewSweepers Radio days — Hank Johnson, PGA Teacher of the Year and Golf Magazine Top 50, breaking down the history of the wedge, the Gene Sarazan story, and exactly how bounce works and why it changes everything around the greens. Tour Coach wraps up the VIP Elite Performance Retreat at Dutchman's Pipe — and Tony Ruggiero is joined by Ryan Webb and special guest Charles Woods, who made the trip all the way from London to be part of it. Charles shares what made this retreat unlike anything he's seen in golf instruction: six coaches in the same space, no egos, no alpha posturing — just a shared commitment to developing players at every level. From Kevin Kirk's intent-based practice model, to Wayne Flint's ability to deliver complex changes in language anyone can understand, to Dr. Greg Cartin's organic approach to performance psychology — the guys break down the key takeaways any golfer or coach can apply. Plus, Tony sounds off on why "swing or swing" comparisons are doing junior golfers more harm than good.
