How Past and Current Hurts Limit Your Marriage
2026/09/29
Send us Fan Mail What happens when the pain you thought you moved past is still showing up in your marriage? Past wounds, unresolved hurt, betrayal, disappointment, and even current conflict can quietly affect the way we communicate, trust, connect, and respond to our spouse. Sometimes we think we have “let it go,” when in reality, we have simply learned how to live around the pain. In this episode of Marriage Mondays with The Kings, we discuss how unresolved emotional wounds can create distance in marriage, trigger unhealthy reactions, impact intimacy, and keep couples stuck in cycles they may not fully understand. We also explore what it looks like to acknowledge the hurt, address what is happening beneath the surface, and begin creating space for healing, healthier communication, and deeper connection. God desires more than a marriage that simply survives. He desires marriages that grow, heal, and become stronger through truth, grace, and intentional work. How Do I Love Me? | Self-Love, Healing & Identity
2026/09/22
Send us Fan Mail What does it truly mean to love yourself through God’s eyes? In “How Do I Love Me?”, ShanTrail King explores biblical self-love, healing, identity, accountability, and how our relationship with ourselves affects the way we love and relate to others. As you listen, consider this important question: Do I love myself enough to heal, grow, take accountability, and do the work? Support the show
Faking In Marriage
2026/09/15
Send us Fan Mail What happens when a marriage looks good on the outside but feels disconnected behind closed doors? In this episode of Marriage Mondays with The Kings, we’re talking about faking in marriage — smiling for the pictures, showing up for everybody else, saying “we’re good,” while privately dealing with emotional distance, resentment, loneliness, and unresolved hurt. We unpack why couples sometimes begin performing instead of connecting, how pretending can slowly damage emotional intimacy, and what it takes to move from simply looking married to actually being connected. Marriage was never meant to be a performance. Healing begins when couples are willing to stop pretending, have the difficult conversations, and intentionally rebuild trust, intimacy, and a God-centered connection. Whether you’re married, preparing for marriage, or trying to understand what healthy relationships really require, this conversation will challenge you to choose authenticity over appearance. "The Self-Love Revolution: Are We Too Focused on Personal Growth?"
2026/09/08
Send us Fan Mail Self-love is important. Personal growth is necessary. But can either go too far? We hear it everywhere: Choose yourself. Protect your peace. Set boundaries. Prioritize your happiness. Do what’s best for you. And sometimes, that is exactly what we need to hear. But in this episode of Marriage Mondays with The Kings, Kenya and ShanTrail ask a different question: What happens when our pursuit of self-love and personal growth begins to affect our ability to love, compromise, sacrifice, and grow with someone else? We explore the tension between becoming a healthier version of yourself and remaining committed to healthy relationships. Because personal growth should help us become better—not simply give us new language to justify avoiding accountability, discomfort, or the needs of others. In this episode, we discuss:  The difference between healthy self-love and self-centeredness  Whether “protecting your peace” can sometimes become avoidance  How personal growth can strengthen—or strain—a marriage  The role of boundaries without building walls  Why individual happiness cannot be the only measure of a healthy relationship  Growing individually while still learning how to grow together  How to recognize when “choosing yourself” may be costing you meaningful connection There is nothing wrong with loving yourself. There is nothing wrong with healing, evolving, setting boundaries, or becoming more emotionally healthy. The question is: Who are you becoming in the process? If your personal growth makes you healthier, more accountable, more compassionate, and more capable of loving well—that’s growth. But if “self-love” leaves no room for compromise, accountability, connection, or consideration for anyone else, it may be time to take another look at what we’re calling growth. You can grow as an individual without abandoning the responsibility of growing in relationship with others. Support the show
When AI (Artificial Intelligence) Becomes Your Marriage Counselor
2026/09/01
Send us Fan Mail When did AI become easier to talk to than your own spouse? More couples are turning to artificial intelligence, Google, social media, forums, and other online spaces for answers to some of the most personal questions in their marriages—sometimes before having the conversation with the person sleeping right beside them. In this episode of Marriage Mondays with The Kings, Kenya and ShanTrail explore what happens when AI starts becoming the place we take our marriage questions, frustrations, fears, and private thoughts. Technology can be a helpful tool—but what happens when asking AI feels safer than communicating honestly with your spouse? And when does seeking guidance online cross the line into avoiding the conversations your marriage actually needs? In this episode, we discuss:  Why someone may feel safer talking to AI than their spouse  The fears that can make difficult conversations feel impossible  Some of the most common marriage questions people search for online  How relying on outside answers can affect trust, communication, and intimacy  The difference between using AI as a tool and treating it like a marriage counselor What Scripture teaches about listening, communication, and understanding  Practical ways couples can begin having the conversations they have been avoiding Focal Scripture: James 1:19 AI can give you information. It can help you organize your thoughts. It may even help you see a situation from another perspective. But it cannot do the work of your marriage for you. At some point, the question you typed into the search bar may need to become the conversation you have with your spouse. If you've ever found yourself asking AI something about your marriage that you haven't been able—or willing—to ask your spouse, this episode may hit a little differently. Listen, reflect, and then have the conversation. Support the show
IT’S TIME TO ELEVATE: Your Marriage
2026/08/18
Send us Fan Mail Is your marriage truly growing — or just repeating the same cycles with different arguments? In this eye-opening episode of Marriage Mondays with The Kings, IT’S TIME TO ELEVATE: Your Marriage, we get honest about the real reason many relationships stay stuck. Spoiler alert: it’s not always your spouse. Many of the struggles couples face today are rooted in unhealed childhood wounds, emotional baggage, and toxic patterns that quietly follow us into adulthood. Using the powerful illustration of a hot air balloon, we break down how issues like control, fear of abandonment, unresolved anger, addiction, and people-pleasing act like sandbags — keeping marriages grounded when they were designed by God to soar. Rooted in Isaiah 40:31, this conversation explores how spiritual faith must be matched with emotional healing and personal responsibility. You’ll hear modern-day examples of how couples unknowingly replay their past in present conflicts, why prayer without action keeps us stagnant, and how true freedom comes when we release what’s toxic within. “When you release what is toxic to you, you feel free — and that freedom causes you to elevate higher.” We close with practical, faith-based tools individuals can start using immediately to bring healing, accountability, and elevation into their marriage. If you’re ready to stop surviving and start rising together, this episode is for you. Support the show

2026/08/11
Send us Fan Mail In today’s world, couples are facing more pressure than ever—financial hardships, job loss, political tension, and racial division threaten to pull families apart. In this episode of Marriage Mondays with The Kings, we’re diving deep into how husbands and wives can:  ✨ Stay united when the world feels divided.  ✨ Overcome financial stress and job loss as a team.  ✨ Protect their home atmosphere from negativity and outside influence.  ✨ Strengthen family dynamics with prayer, intentional time, and biblical truth.  ✨ Rekindle love and romance even in hard seasons. 📖 Focal Scripture: Matthew 7:24–25 reminds us to build our house on the Rock—so when the storms of life come, our marriage will not fall. If you’ve been feeling the weight of today’s climate on your marriage or family, this conversation will give you biblical encouragement, practical tools, and renewed hope to keep pursuing one another and protecting your covenant. 💡 Thought of the Week: “The storms of life will always rage around us, but they don’t have to rage within our homes. For the singles, are you preparing for the type of marriage you are praying for? Open Marriage
2026/07/07
Send us Fan Mail Open marriage is a topic that many people are talking about, but not everyone is willing to have the honest conversation. Is an open marriage a good idea? Can open marriage rules and boundaries protect a relationship? What does an open marriage really do to trust, intimacy, commitment, and emotional safety between a husband and wife? And for those who follow God, we have to ask the deeper question: Does God support open marriage? Should Christian couples even entertain the idea of an open marriage, or does it move the marriage away from God’s design for covenant, faithfulness, and commitment? In this powerful series of Marriage Mondays with The Kings, we are taking our time and diving into the real questions surrounding open marriage, Christian marriage, biblical marriage, boundaries in marriage, trust in marriage, infidelity, emotional connection, sexual intimacy, and what it means to honor your spouse and your covenant. Many people are afraid to talk about this topic, but we are not. We are going to have the conversation with truth, wisdom, faith, and love. 🎧 Listen in, join the conversation, and share your thoughts. This is one episode you do not want to miss. Support the show
