They Grumbled
2026/09/20
The parable of the workers in the vineyard helps us to understand the upside down nature of the Kingdom of God where the first will be last and the last will be first, while also reinforcing that our salvation is only by the free grace of God rather than anything we deserve and cautioning us against the sin of grumbling and complaining.
Sermon Text: Matthew 20:1-16
A Treasure Hidden in Plain Sight
2026/09/13
In his Rally Sunday sermon, the Rev. Jeffrey S. Miller addresses suffering, faith, and salvation, exploring often-overlooked verses in Chapter 5 of Mark's Gospel. Many know that Jesus raised Jairus's daughter from the dead, but a short passage within that account is a separate extraordinary account, one that shows that just the smallest amount of faith, as long as it is put in Jesus Christ, is more than enough.
Sermon text: Mark 5:24b–34
Gaining Your Brother
2026/09/06
In Ezekiel 33 and Matthew 18, we discover the heart of a God who desires not death, but restoration and life. Jesus calls us to share that heart by pursuing brothers and sisters who have wandered or wounded us—not to win an argument or prove ourselves right, but in humility and love to “gain our brother,” remembering that we ourselves have first been pursued by the grace of God.
Sermont text: Ezekiel 33:1–11, Matthew 18:15–20
No Cross, No Crown
2026/08/30
Following on the heels of Peter's Confession that Jesus is the Messiah, Jesus reveals the true nature of His messianic identity. Jesus shows His disciples that as the Messiah, He must first endure the cross before He gains the crown. Those who choose to follow Him must also participate in this pattern of discipleship. Therein lies the uncomfortable paradox that in order to find our life, we must first be willing to lose it. In other words, there can be no crown without the cross.
Sermon Text: Matthew 16:21–27
Who Do You Say that I Am?
2026/08/23
The question of who Jesus is continues to be controversial today because it is the most important question in the history of the world. Today’s Gospel from Matthew 16 is one of the most important passages in the Bible and one that is supremely relevant for us and our culture today. This morning we will be looking at that passage and its larger context in the full chapter and its relevance for us today. We will focus in on three aspects of this passage:
1. The views of people at the time about who Jesus was
2. What Peter’s confession means and why it is so important
3. How Jesus is the Rock on which our faith is built.
Sermon text: Matthew 16:13–20

Grace at the Bottom
2026/08/09
Jonah discovers that the God from whom he fled is the very God who pursues him with steadfast love all the way to the depths. Sometimes God allows us to reach those depths, where our false hopes and false ideas about him are stripped away, so that we can discover what Jonah finally confessed: “Salvation belongs to the Lord.”
