God Has Not Rejected You | Romans 11 | The Gospel
2026/09/20
Has God forgotten you? Have you missed your calling for good? In this week's message from Romans 11, Pastor Lawrence Metzler walks through Paul's answer to a people convinced God had written them off — and lands on one of Scripture's most reassuring promises: God's gifts and his call are irrevocable. From Elijah's discouragement to the remnant of grace, from the olive tree to the assurance of an enduring faith, this is a message for anyone who's ever felt overlooked, disqualified, or too far behind. Show notes: The question underneath Romans 11 — has God rejected me?Elijah, the 7,000, and why God's kingdom runs on remnant obedience, not majority ruleThe quiet danger of hearing God's Word without responding to itThe olive tree: one people of God, grafted in by grace (not replacement)Living as a "vessel of revelation" — your life as influenceAssurance and endurance: "a long obedience in the same direction"Why irrevocable might be the most freeing word in the chapterScripture: Romans 11:1–2, 5–6, 13–14, 25–27, 29; Romans 10:11–13; Hebrews 3:12–14 Next steps highlighted this week: Reread Romans 11 and ask: Am I responding to God's Word, or just hearing it?If you've felt forgotten or far off, respond to Christ — His call on your life hasn't expired.Take a next step with a church family that will walk it with you.Connect with Grand Point Church: 🌐 Website: grandpoint.church 📸 Instagram: @grandpointchurch 👍 Facebook: /grandpointchurch ▶️ YouTube: Grand Point Church #WeekendMessages #TheGospel #Romans11 #GrandPointChurch #Sermon #Faith Connect with us at www.grandpoint.church/nextsteps Watch online on YouTube Follow us on Facebook and Instagram Sign up for our free weekly newsletter
Living On Mission | Romans 10 | The Gospel
2026/09/12
This week's message continues our series through the book of Romans, picking up in chapter 10. After nine chapters unpacking everything God has done for us, Paul turns the question back on us: what do we do with the gospel we've been given? This week's message unpacks three simple truths — Jesus has already done the work, what He's done in us overflows through us, and the good news was never meant to stop with us — and challenges us to think of one person who needs to hear it. Scripture covered: Romans 10:1, 9–10, 13–15, 21; Ephesians 2:8–9; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Acts 20:24 Next steps highlighted in this episode: Serve Day is next weekend — an invitation to look for opportunities to share Jesus and pray with people you encounter.A vision trip to the Dominican Republic is planned for January with Work Team Partners.A team is traveling to Honduras in April 2027 to meet sponsored children — 22 children still need sponsors. He Chose You First | Romans 8 | The Gospel
2026/09/06
Romans 8 is the chapter we memorize. Romans 9 is the one we're tempted to skip. This week on Weekend Messages at Grand Point Church, we step back into our series The Gospel and walk straight into the Bible's most honest conversation about God's sovereignty and human free will. Speaker: Lawrence Metzler Show notes: Why Romans 9 makes so many readers uncomfortable — and why that's worth pressing intoWhat the sovereignty of God actually means: supreme rule, complete control, unstoppable plansHow God chose Abraham and Israel by grace, not merit — and how faith makes you an heir of that same promiseThe 500-year Calvinism vs. Arminianism debate, and why Grand Point lands on "we are of Jesus Christ"Three truths held together: God chose Israel, God chose you, and we choose Him in returnA closing challenge about the choices that shape your lifeScripture referenced: Romans 9:2-5, 18-23 · Romans 1:1-3, 16-17 · Romans 3:10-12 · Ephesians 1:4-5 · John 15:16 · Joshua 24:15 Connect with Grand Point Church  🌐 Website: www.grandpoint.church  📸 Instagram: @grandpointchurch  📘 Facebook: /grandpointchurch  ▶️ YouTube: Grand Point Church Connect with us at www.grandpoint.church/nextsteps Watch online on YouTube Follow us on Facebook and Instagram Sign up for our free weekly newsletter
"What happens when faith turns into just going through the motions? | Malachi | The Voice"
2026/08/23
This week's message opens a new 12-week journey through the Old Testament's Minor Prophets, starting with Malachi — God's final recorded words to Israel before 400 years of prophetic silence. Malachi confronts a people who had rebuilt the Temple and resumed the rituals, but whose hearts had gone quietly numb. Through a striking back-and-forth between God and His people, we're challenged in three areas: what we sacrifice, what we withhold, and how we respond to correction — and reminded that even in the middle of indifference, God is actively making a way back. Scriptures covered: Malachi 1:2–3, 6–7, 12–13 | Malachi 2:5 | Malachi 3:1, 5, 7–10, 13–18 | Malachi 4:1–2 | Romans 12:1 | 2 Corinthians 9:7–8 | Revelation 3:19–21 Three questions to take with you: What we sacrifice for God reveals how much we value Him — what are you currently giving Him: your best, or your leftovers? What we withhold from God reveals how much we trust Him — where are you holding tightly out of fear instead of trust? Our response to God's correction reveals how much we love Him — when God (or someone He's placed in your life) calls something out, how do you typically respond?Next Steps: Take a moment this week to be honest with God about one area of indifference — invite Him back in.Try Malachi 3:10's challenge: test God's generosity with your own this week, in whatever form that takes for you.Talk with a friend, spouse, or Grand Point community group about where you've felt "numb" lately, and pray for each other.New to Grand Point? 2026/08/16
Have you ever waited for something you knew was coming, but didn't know exactly when it would happen? On this episode, we continue our summer series through the Minor Prophets, The Voice, landing in the book of Zechariah — fourteen chapters of visions, judgment, and hope for a discouraged people waiting on God to keep His word. We trace three pictures of Jesus hidden inside Zechariah's prophecy: the Humble Messiah who entered Jerusalem on a donkey exactly as foretold, the Suffering Savior betrayed for the exact price Zechariah named 500 years in advance, and the Returning King whose feet will one day stand on the Mount of Olives. Show Notes / Scriptures Referenced: Zechariah 1:1-4 — "Return to me, and I will return to you."Zechariah 9:9 & Matthew 21:4-5 — The Humble Messiah, on a donkeyZechariah 11:12-13 & Matthew 27:3-5 — Thirty pieces of silverZechariah 12:10-11 — Mourning for the one they piercedZechariah 14:4, 14:9 & Revelation 19:11-16 — The Returning KingRomans 5:8 — Christ died for us while we were still sinnersNext Steps from This Episode: Read Zechariah 9:9 and Zechariah 14:9 side by side this week — the King who came humbly, and the King who's coming in glory. If you've never settled the question of where you stand with Jesus, don't leave it unanswered — take that step today.Connect with us in person or online — we'd love to help you take your next step.Connect with Grand Point Church:  Website: www.grandpoint.church  Instagram: @grandpointchurch  Facebook: /grandpointchurch  YouTube: Grand Point Church Connect with us at www.grandpoint.church/nextsteps Watch online on YouTube Follow us on Facebook and Instagram Sign up for our free weekly newsletter
When Bitterness Becomes a Family Feud | Obadiah | The Voice
2026/08/09
In this week's message from Grand Point Church's series The Voice, Director of Kids Ministry Stephen Hunt walks through the book of Obadiah — the shortest book in the Old Testament, but one of the most convicting. Through the story of Edom's betrayal of Judah, Stephen unpacks how bitterness, gossip, and slander quietly tear apart families, friendships, and churches — and what Scripture calls us to do instead. In This Episode: The historical context of Obadiah and Edom's family history with IsraelThe four-part structure of the prophecy: judgment, sin, the Day of the Lord, and restorationHow James 3 and Matthew 12:34 connect the tongue to the condition of the heartPractical steps for addressing conflict biblically, straight from Matthew 18:15-16An invitation to repentance and reconciliationNext Steps: Reach out to someone you've talked about instead of talked to — make the call, send the text, this week.Read Matthew 18:15-16 and James 3:1-12 as a follow-up this week.Talk with your family about what it looks like to "make the messy beautiful" in your own home.Missed the full service? What's Your Temple? | Haggai | The Voice
2026/08/02
Haggai is one of the shortest books in the Old Testament — and one of the most direct. In this episode, Dr. Mark Long teaches from Haggai as part of our series The Voice: A Journey Through the Minor Prophets, unpacking what happens when good intentions quietly turn into good excuses, and what it looks like to consider your ways. Show notes: Historical background: Solomon's temple, its destruction in 586 B.C., and the return from exileThe two ways the people of Judah lost their vision (Haggai 1:1–15)Three commands for the discouraged: be strong, work, do not fear (Haggai 2:1–9)Why sin spreads — and what to do about it (Haggai 2:10–19)The promise of the coming Messiah (Haggai 2:20–23)What it means that you are the temple today (1 Corinthians 3:16)Next steps: If you've never given your life to Christ, today can be that day.If you need prayer or someone to talk to, reach out to a campus prayer team. This week, sit with Haggai 1:5 — "consider your ways" — and let it shape one specific area of your life.Connect with Grand Point Church:  Website: www.grandpoint.church  Instagram: @grandpointchurch  Facebook: /grandpointchurch  YouTube: Grand Point Church Connect with us at www.grandpoint.church/nextsteps Watch online on YouTube Follow us on Facebook and Instagram Sign up for our free weekly newsletter
The God Who Sings Over You | Zephaniah | The Voice
2026/07/26
Zephaniah is one of the shortest books in the Bible, but it names "the Day of the Lord" 19 times. In this week's message, part of our series The Voice: A Journey Through the Minor Prophets, we explore how God lovingly warns His people out of idolatry and complacency — and how a book that begins in judgment ends with something stunning: God singing over His people with delight. Meet King Josiah, discover what modern idols really look like, and hear the invitation to gather, seek, and return. Taught by Pastor Lawrence Metzler. Show notes: Why the "Minor" Prophets aren't minor at allThe Day of the Lord: judgment, history, and hope (Hebrews 9:27–28)King Josiah's reformation — seeking the Lord at 16, removing idols at 20, reopening the Word at 26Idolatry then and now: comfort, money, and technology as modern idolsFour warning signs of spiritual complacencyThe invitation of Zephaniah 2:1–3 — gather, seek, returnThe surprising finale: the God who rejoices over you with singing (Zephaniah 3:17)Scripture referenced: Zephaniah 1:1–6, 12; 2:1–3; 3:1–2, 14–17; Hebrews 9:27–28; 2 Chronicles 34; 1 Corinthians 10:14; 1 John 5:21; Colossians 3:3 Next Steps: Take the Josiah challenge this week — pick one: seek the Lord in daily prayer, name and remove one idol, or reopen the Word with a reading plan.Identify your modern idol. When You Can't See What God Is Doing, You Can Trust in Who God Is | Habakkuk | The Voice
2026/07/19
Have you ever prayed and felt like God wasn't listening? In this week's message from The Voice, our summer journey through the Minor Prophets, we open the book of Habakkuk — a prophet bold enough to argue with God about the evil and injustice around him, and honest enough to bring his doubt straight to God's throne. What he received wasn't an explanation, but a revelation: "the righteous shall live by faith" (Habakkuk 2:4). Discover how to climb the watchtower when God seems silent, and how Even-If faith (Habakkuk 3:17-19) can turn your lament into worship — even before your circumstances change. Show Notes: Speaker: Dan Culbertson, Shippensburg Campus PastorSeries: The Voice — a summer walk through the Minor ProphetsMain text: Habakkuk 1–3Supporting texts: Romans 5:3-5; Romans 10:9Habakkuk is written as a call-and-response conversation between the prophet and God, largely in the Hebrew form of lamentDoubt, frustration, and honest questions are not the opposite of faith — Jacob, Job, Jeremiah, and Thomas all wrestled with God, and He rejected none of themHabakkuk 2:4 — "the righteous shall live by his faith" — later quoted in Romans, Galatians, and HebrewsTwo practices for seasons of perceived silence: Climb the Watchtower (move toward God, not away — keep praying, keep seeking, position yourself to watch for His movement) and Even-If (decide in advance to worship even if the worst-case scenario happens — Habakkuk 3:17-19)Referenced: Craig Groeschel, Hope in the Dark — acceptance is not denial; honest grief and real hope belong togetherNext Steps (highlight in episode page): Follow Jesus. The Bible Has a Sequel — and It Changes How You See God | Nahum | The Voice
2026/07/12
The book of Jonah ends with one of history's greatest comebacks — an entire city repenting and God relenting. But what happened next? In this week's message from THE VOICE, our series through the Minor Prophets, we open Nahum: the Bible's sequel to Jonah, written a century later to the very same city. Discover why mercy and judgment are complementary rather than contradictory, why faith can never be inherited, and why this hard-edged prophecy contains one of the most comforting promises in Scripture: "The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him" (Nahum 1:7). Show Notes The Bible's "sequel": how Nahum continues the story of Jonah, 100 years laterThe Bible as a book of comebacks — Moses, Rahab, Peter, PaulThree truths about God from Nahum 1:2–3: He cares for His people, He judges what opposes Him, and He is slow to angerNineveh at the height of its power — and the prophecy no one believedHistory's confirmation: the flood, the fire, and a city lost until the 1840sWhy God judged Nineveh: violence, idolatry, and arroganceTwo lessons for today: sin will be dealt with, and God's mercy must be embraced by each generationThe hope inside a hard book: God as refuge (Nahum 1:7)Scriptures referenced: Nahum 1:2–3; 1:7; 1:8; 1:15; 2:2; 3:1–10; Jonah 3:1–10 Next Steps Take a personal step of faith — if you've been living on borrowed or inherited faith, make it your own this weekRequest prayer — our team would love to pray with youPlan a visit or take your next step through baptism or a group Connect with Grand Point Church: Website: https://www.grandpoint.church I nstagram: @grandpointchurch  Facebook: /grandpointchurch  YouTube: Grand Point Church Connect with us at www.grandpoint.church/nextsteps Watch online on YouTube Follow us on Facebook and Instagram Sign up for our free weekly newsletter
It Was Never About the Whale | Jonah | The Voice
2026/07/05
You think you know Jonah — the prophet, the storm, the whale. But this week's message adds one word that changes the whole story: disobedience. In this episode of Weekend Messages at Grand Point Church, part of our series The Voice on the minor prophets, we walk through the book of Jonah and find a man who heard God clearly and ran the other way, a God whose mercy was bigger than his enemies, and a question that lands on all of us: will we obey, or will we run? Wherever you're listening from, there's a next step here for you. Show notes: Why "minor prophet" doesn't mean minor impact"Jonah + disobedience = whale" — the reframe that reshapes the storyThe calling Jonah didn't want, and why he ran (Jonah 1:1–3)How God used even Jonah's disobedience to bring the sailors to worship (Jonah 1:15–16)The honest prayer from inside the fish (Jonah 2:2–3)Nineveh repents — and Jonah sulks (Jonah 4:1–11)"Where are your priorities?" — God's closing questionAvoidance vs. obedience, and the excuses we baptize in Christian languageScripture referenced: Jeremiah 29:11 · Isaiah 30:21 · Jonah 1, 2 & 4 Next steps this week: Identify the calling — ask the Holy Spirit if there's something you've been avoiding.Repent honestly — confess the resistance; ask for a willing heart.Take one obedient step — make the call, release the control, say yes.Connect with Grand Point Church:  🌐 Website: www.grandpoint.church  📸 Instagram: @grandpointchurch  👍 Facebook: /grandpointchurch  ▶️ YouTube: Grand Point Church Connect with us at www.grandpoint.church/nextsteps Watch online on YouTube Follow us on Facebook and Instagram Sign up for our free weekly newsletter
Can You Hear Him? | Micah | The Voice
2026/06/28
God is still speaking — but pride, fear, and bitterness can fill the line with static. In this week's message from our summer series The Voice, Pastor Lawrence walks through the book of Micah, an Old Testament courtroom drama where God takes the bench as Judge, His people stand as the defendants, and the verdict bends toward mercy. We'll meet a small-town prophet with a nation-sized message, name the three barriers that keep us from hearing God's voice, and land on one of the most famous summaries of faith in all of Scripture: "To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God" (Micah 6:8). It's a message about getting the static out — and rediscovering the God who casts our sins into the depths of the sea. In this episode: Why we're drawn to courtroom drama — and how Micah reads like oneThe truth that God is a speaking God who wants real conversation with youThe three barriers to hearing God: pride, fear, and bitternessWhy "resentment is a self-inflicted wound" — and how to let it go (James 1:21)The difference between hearing what we want and what we needMicah 6:8 and what God actually requires of usThe hope of Micah 7:18 — the God who pardons sinNext steps this week: 👉 Pick one barrier — pride, fear, or bitterness — and take one honest step to clear it. When the Spotlight Turns | Amos | The Voice
2026/06/21
Everybody's an expert on what's wrong with the world — but Amos had a harder question. In week 3 of The Voice, our summer series through the Minor Prophets, Pastor Lawrence introduces us to Amos: a shepherd and fig farmer with no prophetic pedigree, called by God to confront a prosperous, comfortable people who loved hearing about everyone else's failures. When Amos turned the spotlight around, his message stopped being popular — and started getting personal. This week, sit with the question Amos leaves for all of us: if someone learned about God only by watching your life, what would they learn? Show Notes: Why God sends "warnings" — and the people He uses to deliver themAmos the unlikely prophet: a farmer, not a professional (Amos 7:14)How God uses ordinary people whose hearts are turned toward HimA warning delivered in a season of peace and prosperity (~800 BC, Jeroboam II)The "for three sins, even for four" pattern — and why the crowd cheeredThe turn: when Amos named the sins of God's own people (Amos 2:6)Justice for the poor, compromise, and worship without the heart (Isaiah 29:13)Living in the world but not of it (1 John 2:15)Scripture: Amos 1–4; 7:14; Acts 2:44–45; 1 John 2:15; Isaiah 29:13; Leviticus 20:26Next Steps: Reflect this week: what would people learn about God by watching your life?Pick one area — words, relationships, work, generosity — to live "set apart" this weekNew here or ready to take a next step?
