In this episode of The Troubadour Podcast, hosts Jared Pete Gile and Carly Evans sit down for a candid, long-form conversation with Texas Red Dirt standout William Clark Green about his deeply personal seventh studio album, Watterson Hall. Released in March 2026 on Bill Grease Records and produced by Logan Wall, the 14-track record marks a mature evolution in Green's songwriting, drawing from his life as a husband and father while exploring themes of family, love, loss, and resilience across standout cuts like the title track "Watterson Hall (Me & You)," "Whole Lotta Lubbock," "Where The Wild Things Are," and "Stubborn and Remains."   Green opens up about stepping outside his usual lane, including powerful co-writes with Travis Meadows (notably on "Stubborn and Remains" and "I Am the Kite"), as well as collaborations with Gary Stanton, Sean McConnell, and others, plus the real-life dancehall inspiration behind the project's heartfelt core. The conversation also shines a light on Green's passion for giving back through Cotton Fest—the annual three-day country music festival he founded in Lubbock, Texas (taking place June 25-27, 2026 at Cook's Garage with a stacked lineup including Flatland Cavalry, 49 Winchester, Josh Abbott Band, and more)—and the High Cotton Relief Fund, the 501(c)(3) he helped establish in 2018 to support West Texas cotton farmers and their families facing hardships like medical bills, funeral costs, and farm needs. In this in-depth conversation, Oklahoma country artist Krislyn Arthurs joins the show to discuss her bold, boundary-pushing sound, fearless songwriting, and the realities of building a career as a fully independent musician. From touring relentlessly, balancing a day job with music, to the upcoming release of her debut album Honky Tonk PhD, Krislyn opens up about finding her true voice, raw storytelling, and what it takes to chase this dream on her own terms. Whether you love classic country edge, outlaw vibes, or modern rowdy storytelling with a 90s twist, this episode delivers inspiration, behind-the-scenes insights, and plenty of laughs (and maybe a few "oh wow" moments). Today's episode is the next in a group of interviews we recorded at Steamboat Music Fest this past January.  In this episode we interview Andy Hedges.  Andy is a songster, reciter, storyteller, guitarist, and collector of cowboy songs and poems. The son of an Italian schoolteacher and a rodeo cowboy turned preacher, Andy was born in Lubbock, Texas, in the spring of 1980. He grew up in the small community of Tokio, Texas, where his family paid rent on an old farmhouse by looking after a few head of cattle. It was there that Andy fell in love with traditional music by listening to his father's cassettes of cowboy songs.  Andy has had the honor of performing at places like the Grand Ole Opry and the Newport Folk Festival.  Andy is also a podcaster and hosts Cowboy Crossroads with Andy Hedges featuring his interviews with everyone from cowboy poets and musicians to working cowboys.  Enjoy the show! The #1 way you can support The Troubadour is by visiting our Patreon page Carly and I were thrilled to have Josh Crutchmer back on the show to talk about his 3rd and latest book, Red Dirt Unplugged. Along with working a day job for a little ol publication called the New York Times, native Okie and Red Dirt Music Fan, Josh Crutchmer, is a journalist who's played a significant role in getting recognition for the artists and the music we all dig for years now. For example, Josh just spent an entire year basically embedded with Wyatt Flores as he rides a very hot streak into the fall.  He was in the studio with him as he recorded his latest album. Josh has also been spending a lot of time with The Great Divide as they capped their comeback this year with some Texas Music honors as well as their Opry debut in July and their Ryman debut (opening for Wyatt) coming in December! Over the past year, Josh has also had his articles published in Rolling stone featuring artists like Flatland Calvary, Wade Bowen, Dylan Gossett, Koe Wetzel, American Aquarium, Cody Canada, Reckless Kelly, Muscadine Bloodline, Dasha, Shane Smith, Old 97s and Charles Wesley Godwin. So, let's just say Josh has his pulse on the scene and the exciting time we're all experiencing in our favorite genre of original music.  We were thrilled to have him on the show and we can't recommend his book highly enough!
