2026/10/21

The Launch Checklist: What You Actually Need Done Before Pressing Go
2026/10/21
Jim Edwards (https://www.copyandcontent.ai) says,
“A deadline without consequences is just a suggestion wearing a watch.” Check out the GO Test Before you press go, ask five questions:
1. Is the close date set? 2. Is every major content and communication piece scheduled? 3. Is the proof organized and matched to likely objections? 4. Are the sales and follow-up assets finished? 5. Is the final-day plan already written?
If one of those gets a nervous little “sort of,” you’re not ready. Build The Machine Before You Turn It On A good launch should feel busy… It should not feel improvised.
The goal is not to remove every surprise. Something will always happen. A link breaks. A guest runs late. An email gets fewer clicks than expected. That’s business. The goal is to stop creating avoidable emergencies.Set the deadline first.Work backward.Plan the content.Gather the proof.Finish the conversion pieces.Build the checklist.Prepare the final day. Then press go.And if creating all those launch assets is the part that makes you want to suddenly reorganize your garage instead, that’s exactly where CopyandContent.AI can help. You can use it to turn your launch plan into sales emails, social posts, sales page copy, webinar messaging, follow-up content, and deadline reminders without starting from a blank screen every morning.Because the best time to write your launch is not during your launch.Build the machine first. Then turn it on.Check out Jim’s words of wisdom as he breaks this down for all of us. A Great One-Time Offer Does Not Sell More. It Removes the Next Problem
2026/09/23
Copy and Content coach Jim Edwards shows why a great OTO does not repair a broken first offer. It accelerates the purchase process. Most OTOs don't create the Next-Pressure / Problem & Solution PrincipleEvery meaningful purchase creates a new kind of pressure… or a new problem to solve. For instance, buy a fitness plan, and you may worry about staying consistent. Buy a copywriting course, and you may worry that your first draft is terrible. Buy a leadership program, and you may wonder how to apply it to your team on Monday morning. This leads to what I call the Next-Pressure / Problem Principle:The first sale solves the buyer’s original problem. The OTO should solve the pressure of the next problem created by taking action.Your customer has moved forward. That progress reveals a new concern involving time, effort, skill, confidence, or risk.A strong OTO meets that concern. It helps the buyer get the desired result faster, easier, better, or at a lower total cost. It does not make success possible. The original offer should have already done that.Four Ways to Sell ReliefMost great OTOs fall into four categories.1. Software that helps do the workYour training shows the customer what to do. Software helps execute, organize, automate, or speed up the process.A course might teach someone to plan a follow-up funnel. The OTO could offer software that helps draft emails or build the sequence faster. The course gives them the skill. The software reduces the labor.2. Coaching that reduces uncertaintyPeople often buy a solution and immediately wonder, “What if my situation is different?”Coaching provides context, accountability, and confidence. It helps customers adapt the method instead of staring at lesson three at 11:47 p.m. while questioning every life choice that led them there. The program works without coaching. Coaching helps the buyer make decisions faster and avoid unnecessary detours.3. An evaluation or critiqueSometimes customers do not need more information. They need confirmation.A critique certificate, review session, or assessment gives them a second set of eyes. I have used this with copywriting products because a writer can finish the draft and still wonder, “Is this actually good?”A useful critique does not replace the method. It improves the customer’s application of it.4. A done-for-you serviceSome buyers want to learn. Others want the result without adding another project to their plate.Your original offer can show them exactly what to do. The OTO can say, “You can do this yourself. If you would rather have someone complete part or all of it for you, here is that option.”That is convenience. It is not a ransom note.Jim Edwards show you how to do this with great success using his software programs that is truly the easy button to salescopy and content marketing. The Tiny Checkbox That INSTANTLY Makes Your Funnel More Profitable - The Order Bump!
2026/09/23
Jim Edwards discusses how to create an order bump with AI. Most marketers ask the wrong question at checkout: What else can I sell them?Ask this instead: What will help them get the result they just paid for faster, better, or easier?A great bump usually does one of four things:• Improves the result. Templates can help a course buyer implement faster. A workbook can help a workshop attendee leave with something finished.• Creates an easy button. A checklist, calculator, script, or swipe file reduces effort and uncertainty.• Adds a natural companion. Someone buys the printed book, then adds the audiobook. The connection makes sense instantly.• Prepares them for the next problem. Someone generates leads, then needs follow-up. Someone writes a book, then needs a launch plan.Information tells people what to do. An easy button helps them actually do it.The best order bumps solve the friction created by saying yes.Use the B.U.M.P. TestBefore you add anything to checkout, run it through this four-part test.B: Builds on What They Already BoughtThe connection should be obvious without a paragraph of explanation.Picnic table plus instant picnic kit. Book plus audiobook. Workshop plus workbook. If you need a conspiracy board and three pieces of red string to explain the relationship, choose a different bump.U: Unlocks Speed, Ease, or a Better ResultYour bump should remove work, delay, confusion, or risk.It does not need to transform the buyer’s entire life. It needs to make the next part of the journey smoother.M: Makes Sense in Five SecondsCheckout is not the place for a new education campaign. The buyer should understand what it is, why it matters, and what it costs almost instantly. If your bump needs a video sales letter, a stack slide, and a FAQ, congratulations. You may have built another offer. It just does not belong in the checkbox.P: Protects the Value of the Main OfferThe original purchase must still feel complete.Use what I call the Penalty Test:If the buyer says no to the bump, will they still feel fully served by the main product? If the answer is no, fix the main offer. That test protects trust. And trust is worth more than the quick bump revenue you can squeeze out of a disappointed customer.Build Your Bump in 30 Minutes – See how Jim Edwards explains this simple but profitable concept at https://www.copyandcontent.ai
The Video Sales Letter Compresses the Buying Decision with Customers
2026/09/23
Jim Edwards discusses how and why a VSL does not replace reading. It removes reading as the only path.Video Can Compress the Buying Decision - Suppose you sell software that turns a rough webinar transcript into a clear sales campaign. You could spend six paragraphs describing the dashboard, workflow, and finished output.Or you could show this:Rough transcript goes in. Polished campaign comes out. Twenty seconds. The mechanism is understood. That is the first major advantage of a VSL: compression. Video can demonstrate movement, sequence, tone, transformation, and ease at the same time. While written copy explains the recipe, video lets the prospect smell dinner. This matters for software, courses, coaching frameworks, physical products, assessments, templates, memberships, and services with a visible before-and-after.If seeing the process makes the value obvious, hiding that process in paragraphs is marketing with one hand tied behind your back.Video “Shows” What Text CannotNow imagine two people saying, “I understand what you are dealing with.”One is a line of text. The other is a real person looking into the camera, slowing down, and speaking like they actually mean it.Same words. Different weight.A VSL carries facial expression, timing, confidence, warmth, and conviction. Prospects can hear the pause before an important point. They can see that you know the problem. They can decide whether they trust you.If you don’t show AND tell… you won’t sell! That does not mean you need dramatic music, a rented Lamborghini, or the vocal intensity of someone announcing the end of civilization. It means you need clarity with a pulse. The Two-Track Sales PageHere is the mistake to avoid: treating video and written copy like rival candidates in an election. They are not competitors. They are teammates.Build a Two-Track Sales Page:The “watch” track: Put a short VSL near the top for people who want the fast, visual, emotional version. The “read” track: Place clear sales copy beneath it for people who prefer to scan, verify details, compare features, and revisit proof. Most likely what will happen is The “hybrid” track where people watch first, then scroll/scan for the specific information they still need. Some prospects will watch. Some will read. Your best prospects may do both. The video earns attention. The copy satisfies scrutiny. That is the one-two punch.Use the W.A.T.C.H. ScriptDo not wing your VSL.Off-the-cuff is wonderful for jazz. It is expensive in a funnel.Use this five-part script instead:W – Wake them up, 0 to 10 seconds. Name the problem or desired result in language the prospect already uses.A – Agitate the cost, 10 to 35 seconds. Show what delay, confusion, or the wrong approach is costing them.T – Teach or demonstrate, 35 to 65 seconds. Reveal the mechanism. Show the product, process, or key insight in action.C – Confirm with proof, 65 to 90 seconds. Use a result, testimonial, demonstration, or credible reason to believe.H – Hand off to the next step, 90 to 120 seconds. Tell them exactly what to do, then point them to the supporting copy below.Keep it under 90-120 seconds when the job is to open the sale, demonstrate the idea, and direct the prospect to the next step.Short does not mean rushed.
DEBATE: Short form or Long form Sales Letter - The short-copy-versus-long-copy argument asks the wrong question.
2026/09/06
People argue about attention spans and word counts. But both short and long sales letters make money. The better question is: “How much uncertainty must I remove before the right buyer feels safe saying yes?”
Some say, “Nobody reads anymore,” when what they really mean is, “Nobody reads stuff they don't care about.”
Your sales letter should stop talking when the buyer stops wondering. This may be the best line in the entire podcast. The $3,000 coaching example illustrates it perfectly: a headline, three bullets and a button may look clean, but the buyer still has six unanswered questions. Contrast that with a $29 workshop sold to a warm audience, where very little explanation may be necessary.
That leads naturally into: People don't hate long copy. They hate copy that wastes their time.
Introduce the 4D Copy-Length Test: Dollars, Doubt, Delay, Difference. Dollars: How much does making the wrong decision cost me—not just money, but time, effort and reputation?
Doubt: How skeptical am I about you, the claim or the offer?
Delay: How long before I actually get the promised result?
Difference: How unfamiliar or difficult to understand is what you're selling?
Then give the simple scoring system:
0–1 = Short 2 = Hybrid 3–4 = Long
Short copy isn't better copy. It's copy for a different buying situation. Short works particularly well when trust is already high, the offer is simple, the commitment is low, the result is quick, or something else—like a webinar, referral or detailed email—has already done much of the selling.
Maybe that 200-word sales page worked because the webinar before it was the other 5,000 words of the sales letter.
Long copy should be a guided sales conversation—not a wall of text. Every section needs a job: increase desire, build belief or remove friction. If it doesn't accomplish one of those things, cut it. The goal isn't length. The goal is belief.
This is also where I'd introduce your Accordion Principle: make the top of the page work for somebody who's ready to buy quickly, then expand downward with proof, mechanism, FAQs, comparisons and details for people who need them.
The right sales letter isn't short or long. It's complete.
Texting (SMS) or Email Follow Up Work Flow to the Customer
2026/08/31

Create CALM and Never Have a Chargeback Again and Get More Return Customers
2026/08/18
Jim Edwards and Stew Smith discuss how to communicate with customers to avoid chargebacks, wasted time in customer service, and ultimately more returning customers by staying CALM! The CALM Sequence:1. Confirm the decisionSend this message immediately after purchase.Do more than say thank you. Name the decision they made and connect it to the result they want.Instead of:Your payment has been received.Try:You are officially registered. You just took the first step toward turning your scattered follow-up into a simple system that keeps customers engaged after they buy. Then state what happens next, when it happens, and where they should look. The customer should finish this email thinking, I know where I am, and I know what comes next.2. Activate a small winDo not make the customer wait until the event, course, or product arrives to feel progress.Give them something small and useful: a two-minute assessment, a checklist, a template, a single question to answer, or a setting to complete. The goal is not to bury them under bonuses.Give them one action that creates movement.A buyer who takes one meaningful step starts seeing the purchase as progress, not an expense.3. Lower uncertaintyAnswer the questions buyers may feel silly asking. When does it start? How long will it take? What should they prepare? What if they miss a session? Where do they log in? Who can help? What result should they expect first?Do not confuse mystery with anticipation. Mystery before a purchase can create curiosity. Mystery after a purchase creates support tickets and refunds. This is also the right place for a short story, testimonial, or behind-the-scenes note that shows how the experience works. Choose proof that reduces a specific fear, not applause that merely says you are wonderful.“This changed my life” is flattering.“I was worried I had no time, but the first lesson took 12 minutes and helped me fix my welcome email that afternoon” is useful.4. Move them toward commitmentBefore the main experience begins, ask the buyer to do something that signals participation.Add the event to their calendar. Reply with their biggest question. Introduce themselves in the group. Complete a short worksheet. Choose the result they want to leave with.Small commitments change the customer’s role. They stop feeling like someone who spent money and start behaving like someone who joined something. That distinction matters.

The Fortune is In The Follow-Up (Mastering the Follow up sequence) with Jim Edwards
2026/08/05
Check out how Jim Edwards helps business owners continue the follow-up process to not just set up sign-up pages, but continue the communication with show-ups and then make sales. Your communications should demonstrate the value of attending. See https://www.copyandcontent.ai for tons of training on figuring out the right sales copy and content marketing. Jim sees a lot of people treat event/webinar registration like the finish line. Someone signs up for the webinar. Downloads the report. Grabs the free training. Clicks the button. And the business owner celebrates like they just won the Kentucky Derby. But that excitement falls apart rather quickly.Registration is not the end… Registration is the BEGINNING.That tiny distinction is where most of the money quietly evaporates. Not in a dramatic “the funnel is broken” kind of way. More like a leaky garden hose behind the shed. You don’t notice it at first. Then one day you look at your numbers and wonder why 1,000 registrants turned into 43 attendees, 4 buyers, and a huge bill on your Facebook ads account. The event didn’t fail. The follow-up did. And here is where this gets interesting. The fortune has never really been in the list, the webinar, the free report, or the traffic source. The fortune is in what happens after someone raises their hand to sign up.That’s the part most people under develop. They spend weeks creating the webinar. Days tweaking the landing page. Hours arguing with themselves over the button color (like lime green somehow has magical conversion dust). Then someone registers……And the pain begins. Be ready with follow-ups to get them from signups to sales.
Ways to Inject Urgency Into an Evergreen Offer Without Lying
2026/07/23
Just because your offer is always available doesn’t mean you can’t make it urgent for them to buy now. Marketers have a weird relationship with urgency. They know it works. They know people procrastinate. They know a good deadline can turn “I’ll think about it” into “Where do I put my credit card?”But then comes the problem. What happens when the offer is evergreen? What happens when the sales page is always live, the checkout link always works, and the product is technically available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, whether someone buys today, next Tuesday, or three months from now while eating cold pizza on the couch?Check out this podcast with Jim Edwards as he and Stew Smith discuss your offer to help make your sales pages EVERGREEN. Perfecting Your Follow Up Sequence (emails) to be Evergreen
2026/07/16
Here is the truth: (https://www.copyandcontent.ai) Evergreen does not mean untouched. Evergreen means designed to stay relevant. There’s a big difference. A good evergreen email sequence feels personal, timely, and useful even though it’s automated.
A bad follow up sequence feels like a broken vending machine selling expired Twinkies! (Do they actually expire?)
Your audience can tell. They may not know what a workflow tag is. They may not know what dynamic dates are. They may not understand conditional logic, segmentation, or automation triggers.
But they absolutely know when something feels off, looks dated, and smells strongly of BS! That tiny moment of confusion or inconsistency is where trust starts to fall apart. Not loudly. Quietly. Permanently.
The hidden problem with evergreen email is not automation. It’s neglect.
