Acts 14 brings us along on the final leg of Paul and Barnabus' missionary journey. The Spirit of God continues to pour out leading to salvation and continued persecution. The persecution is intense and idolatry is running rampant, but even then there are miracles, healings and numbers of salvation are added to the church.   As we dive into this chapter, we also learn the importance of staying on mission amidst opposition.   You can connect with Amie on her website: https://rawandrealministries.com/   You can connect with me or order my books on my website here: https://debbiekitterman.com/ click on the store tab and choose the book(s) you would like to view under the book tab.   OR on Amazon here using my affiliate links:  Check out my Amazon Store front here:https://a.co/d/0fSFMjq0 D2h Podcast Books  https://amzn.to/4wnk96D Podcast Equipment https://amzn.to/4u8PloC  I even have other categories for my sourdough, chickens, my favorite things, and more…. check my entire storefront out here: https://a.co/d/0fSFMjq0

Welcome to week 14 of our Series in the book of Acts. Acts 12 opens with a difficult time for the believers in Jerusalem and the church as a whole. Herod seems to be in control and the church appears to be losing. BUT Prayer and God.   In Acts 12 we see a stark contrast between human pride, the arrogance of Herod, and God's power at work through prayer. We experience the death of the first Apostle, James, the rescue of Peter, and finally the death of Herod.

UPDATE: I just want to let everyone know that my website and email have been offline for a week. I am unable to send or have not received any emails from my website and its email. I pray they get the issue figured out soon, but until then you can find the podcast episodes on YouTube or your favorite podcast platforms.   As we dive into Acts 11 we see that God is telling the church its time for change. Out with the old. The old ways, old barriers, old traditions need to go and in with the new. What is the new? It's the beginning of a multi-ethnic church and a new understanding that God's grace is for ALL!   Acts 11 is also the first mention of those who follow Christ and the new emerging church being called Christians.    You can connect with me or order my books on my website here: https://debbiekitterman.com/ click on the store tab and choose the book(s) you would like to view under the book tab.

Today we pick up where we left off and finish Acts Chapter 9 and discuss chapter 10 where we see a HUGE Paradigm shift for Peter and the rest of the believers. God is breaking down barriers and changing mindsets as He reveals His Kingdom's thinking. He reveals salvation is for everyone, not just the Jews. We learn today that NO ONE is beyond God's grace.   Also, there is a challenge for us all: Are we willing to continue with the Great Commission. An important task Jesus charged believers with, or do we have biases that hinder or prohibit us from expanding the Kingdom of God?    You can connect with me or order my books on my website here: https://debbiekitterman.com/ click on the store tab and choose the book(s) you would like to view under the book tab.

As we discuss Acts 9 we are reminded that the power of God can changed the hardest of hearts. I would say this chapter is definitely a plot twist only God saw coming! Not only does the enemy of the church join the Jesus team, but Saul the persecutor becomes an Apostle after being blinded by the light of Jesus.    Things were not easy for Saul after his miraculous encounter on the road to Damascus, but there is no down that the church's greatest persecutor becomes the most influential Apostle who demonstrates and writes about grace.

The church is under persecution, but we see they don't stop spreading the good news. The persecution from Saul causes many to scatter to the very areas Jesus told them to go. God uses this horrible time of persecution to bring about His plan of spreading the gospel to the ends of the earth.    In Acts 8 we encounter 4 different men: Saul, Phillip, Simon the Sorcerer, and the Ethiopian Eunuch. There was a lively discussion around one of these individuals, so you will have to let us know what you think. This is also the beginning of the door for the Gospel to be taken to the Gentiles, definitely a monumental moment for the church and the believers.    You can connect with Amie on her website: https://rawandrealministries.com/   You can connect with me or order my books on my website here: https://debbiekitterman.com/ click on the store tab and choose the book(s) you would like to view under the book tab.   OR on Amazon here using my affiliate links:  Check out my Amazon Store front here:https://a.co/d/0fSFMjq0 D2h Podcast Books  https://amzn.to/4wnk96D Podcast Equipment https://amzn.to/4u8PloC  I even have other categories for my sourdough, chickens, my favorite things, and more…. check my entire storefront out here: https://a.co/d/0fSFMjq0   For Specific Individual Books:   Legacy: The Lost Art of Blessing  http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BNJNNHKY/ref=nosim?tag=da2he-20   Releasing God's Heart through Hearing His Voice:  http://www.amazon.com/dp/0615316220/ref=nosim?tag=da2he-20   The Gift of Prophetic Encouragement: Hearing the Word of God for Others:  http://www.amazon.com/dp/0800798864/ref=nosim?tag=da2he-20   The Gift of Prophetic Encouragement Bible Study: Living a Lifestyle of Encouragement  http://www.amazon.com/dp/B083J3RCYP/ref=nosim?tag=da2he-20   Symbolism Reference Guide & Dream Journal: http://www.amazon.com/dp/0984012346/ref=nosim?tag=da2he-20

Acts 7 is the longest chapter in the book of Acts filled with faith, bold obedience, and martyrdom. It is not just a recitation of church history for the nation of Israel and the Jewish people, but Stephen is also refuting the Jewish leaders' indictments against him. Stephen, filled with the Holy Spirit, delivers a fiery speech. He not only recounts the nations history, but he challenges the religious establishment ultimately ending in Stephen becoming the first christian martyr.

Acts 6 is a master class in Church Leadership amidst rapid growth. This is a very short chapter that would be easy to skip over so please don't. Take the time to read over it yourself and glean from it as much as you can. Especially if you tend to be a leader that has to do all the things.   There is a simple formula the Apostles used to figure out what to do and we can too. They identified the problem, examined the problem, solved the problem, and released and equipped others to fix the problem.

As the church continues to grow, we see in Acts 5:17-42 that not everyone is happy about it. Miracles, signs and wonders abound, but the truth of Jesus Christ and the Gospel Message is under attack. As the story of the early church continues to unfold, the message to us today is the same. Truth matters and it can't be stopped. There will always be those who oppose the truth and those who hold fast to the truth may experience persecution because of it. The Apostles held to the truth they witnessed first hand and obeyed what they were asked to do, even when persecution came.

As we were recording last weeks episode, I felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to recording a specific episode regarding women in the church. Specifically because in Acts 5:12-16 this is the first time Luke mentions the salvation of women and men and not just mentioning the total of  men being saved.  Both in Acts and the Gospel of Luke, Luke has a lot to say about women and their relationship to Jesus Christ and His Church.    Again, as always, Scripture is our foundation and context matters. So we are tackling the hot button topic of Women in Ministry and Church Leadership. We look at the context of Scripture in both the Old and New Testament. We look at historical context and also translation choices of the original Greek words to get a full picture of God's heart and intention towards women in church. We ask that you join us for this powerful conversation with an open heart and open mind as we search for God's truth.

In Acts 4:32-5:16 we see a church that is deeply united in heart and no one, not one single person had a need. We see radical acts of generosity prompted by the Holy Spirit to care for the new emerging church - the body of believers. Then, just as quickly we see the pure heart motives and choices of one person, quickly turning into God exposing bad motives and impure intentions on the part of others.    Part of today's discussion involves looking at the different schools of thought around what took place with Annanias and Sappihra. We look at what Scripture actually says and draw some conclusions regarding discernment, heart attitudes, and the importance of guarding our hearts.

As we continue with our We are the Church series in Acts 4:1-31, Luke continues the thoughts and story he shared in Acts chapter 3. Peter and John continue to CHOOSE BOLDNESS OVER Fear. Several hours into their conversation with those gathered around them after the miraculous healing of the lame man, the temple police show up and arrest them along with the healed man. Yet even more was added to the church.    When we partner with the Holy Spirit He brings extra everything and adds it to our ordinary making it extraordinary. Peter refused to be intimidated, fearful, and he didn't bow his knee but chose to speak the truth of Jesus Christ as directed by the Holy Spirit, and we need to follow Peter's lead today.
