Listener Appreciation Day The Walt Disney World Resort, also called Walt Disney World and Disney World, is an entertainment resort complex in Bay Lake and Lake Buena Vista, Florida, United States, near the cities of Orlando and Kissimmee. Opened on October 1, 1971, the resort is owned and operated by Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, a division of The Walt Disney Company. It was first operated by the Walt Disney World Company. The property covers nearly 25,000 acres (39 sq mi; 101 km2), of which half has been used.[4] The resort comprises four theme parks(consisting of the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom), two water parks, 27 themed resort hotels, nine non-Disney hotels, several golf courses, a camping resort, and other entertainment venues, including the outdoor shopping center Disney Springs. Designed to supplement Disneyland in Anaheim, California, which had opened in 1955, the complex was developed by Walt Disney in the 1960s. "The Florida Project", as it was known, was intended to present a distinct vision with its own diverse set of attractions. Walt Disney's original plans also called for the inclusion of an "Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow" (EPCOT), a planned community intended to serve as a testbed for new city-living innovations. Walt Disney died on December 15, 1966, during the initial planning of the complex. After his death, the company wrestled with the idea of whether to bring the Disney World project to fruition. However, Walt's older brother, Roy, came out of retirement to make sure Walt's biggest dream was realized. Construction started in 1967, with the company instead building a resort similar to Disneyland, abandoning the experimental concepts for a planned community. The Magic Kingdom was the first theme park to open in the complex, in 1971, followed by Epcot (1982), Disney's Hollywood Studios (1989), and Disney's Animal Kingdom (1998). It was Roy who insisted the name of the entire complex be changed from Disney World to Walt Disney World, ensuring that people would remember that the project was Walt's dream. What's In the News at WDW - Week of June 28th, 2021 This week at Walt Disney World, more COVID-19 restrictions are dropped, new shows are announced, plus Disney unveils BIG plans for its 50th-anniversary celebration! Outside Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort reopens an attraction that had previously been shuttered since last August plus the Universal Superstar Parade returns to regular operation! 

We Review Loki, the New Disney Plus Series from Marvel Loki is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Stan Lee, scripter Larry Lieber and penciller Jack Kirby, a version of the character first appeared in Venus #6. The modern-day incarnation of Loki first appeared in Journey into Mystery #85 Loki is an important recurring figure of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As of 2021, he has appeared in every entry of the Thor films and in three of the four Avengers films. These six films are: Thor, The Avengers, Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame; and in Loki, a stand-alone Disney+ television series focused on the character. The character will also appear in What If...?,[5] an animated anthology TV series. Loki's character has borrowed a number of characteristics and storylines from across the more than fifty-year history of the character in Marvel Comics. As in the comics, Loki has generally been a villain in the MCU, variously attempting to conquer Asgard or Earth, and having allied himself with more powerful villains to achieve his aims. He has particular antagonism for his adoptive brother Thor, and is known to variously ally with and then betray Thor and others, and to regularly return from apparent death. In his development through the films, he becomes less of a supervillain and more of an antihero.

What's New at Disney Springs?  Update on Disneyland's Avenger's Campus and more... Last night, Super Heroes assembled to celebrate the momentous dedication of Avengers Campusin an epic ceremony at Disney California Adventure park! Disney CEO Bob Chapek was joined in front of Avengers Headquarters near the shining Quinjet by Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro and Marvel Studios President/Marvel Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige, along with Paul Rudd, star of the “Ant-Man” films, and Anthony Mackie from the hit Disney+ series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”  Anthony Mackie joined Captain America during the grand opening ceremony, while Paul Rudd caught up with Ant-Man and the Wasp. “Iron Man” director and actor Jon Favreau was also on hand, where he encountered Iron Man in his new armor, the Mark 80. A few other special guests toured Avengers Campus, and made special appearances during the live-stream event, including “Guardians of the Galaxy” actress Zoe Saldana, “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” actor Simu Liu and “Captain Marvel” actress Brie Larson. An entirely new land, Avengers Campus is devoted to discovering, recruiting and training the next generation of Super Heroes. Guests will join Avengers and their allies to live out their Super Hero dreams in this fully immersive land that mixes innovation with storytelling, and fun for all ages. WDW News, Week of May 10th - What's going on at Walt Disney World? Just like last week, the Magic Kingdom’s wait times have continually seen a steady drop around the parks. Many of the attractions sat in the 20 minute range for waits, including the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover at 23 minutes and Peter Pan’s Flight at 26 minutes. Disney is pushing critical race theory on employees through a new plan called “Reimagine Tomorrow,” urging workers to recognize their “white privilege,” in a battery of training modules on topics such as “systemic racism” and “white fragility,” according to internal documents obtained by City-Journal’sChristopher Rufo.  Staffers are told to reject “equality” for “equity” and must “reflect” on America’s “racist infrastructure” and “think carefully about whether or not [their] wealth” is derived from racism, according to the documents.
