From Table to Page: Author Conversations with Richard Peall
2026/10/09
Join Florence as she sits down with author Richard Peall to discuss his debut book, The Binary Butterfly.    In this episode, they explore the origins of The Binary Butterfly, how it transformed from a ttrpg (tabletop role-playing game) into an exploration of a ‘what-if’ scenario on the possibilities and consequences of advanced technology. What started as a tabletop game evolved into something much larger, a world where every decision can have consequences, and nothing is certain until someone makes it so.    Delving into the world creation and how the city has been developed into feeling its own character and that it’s more than just a simple backdrop to the story being told. Richard also explains the character process of how these characters were made by his friends and were actively changing and reflecting throughout the tabletop game and transferring that knowledge and development into the book.   At the heart of it all is the butterfly effect. How seemingly small choices made during a game can cause a ripple and change the course of the characters and the story itself.
