Retro Late Fee Goes “Back into the Future” with Verity!
Usually, Retro Late Fee takes us 25 years into the past to revisit the movies and television shows that shaped pop culture. But this time, we’re breaking the rules—and jumping all the way back to 2026 to review the new movie Verity!
Based on the bestselling novel by Colleen Hoover, Verity brings a twisted psychological thriller to the screen, filled with secrets, deception, obsession, and questions about just how much we can trust the people closest to us. In this special “Back into the Future” episode, we leave the retro VHS shelf behind and take a look at one of today’s most talked-about movies.
What did we think of Verity? Does the movie live up to the hype surrounding Colleen Hoover’s novel? How does the adaptation handle the book’s shocking twists and complicated characters? And, most importantly, is Verity worth paying the cinematic late fee?
Join Retro Late Fee as we review Verity, discuss the performances, story, adaptation, twists, and our overall reaction to the movie. Warning: spoilers ahead!

Jeepers Creepers
2026/09/03
On this episode of Retro Late Fee, we’re heading into the terrifying world of Jeepers Creepers, the 2001 horror movie directed by Victor Salva and starring Gina Philips and Justin Long. We’re looking at the movie exactly as audiences would have experienced it 25 years ago—before the sequels, before the internet picked apart every detail, and before The Creeper became one of the most recognizable monsters in modern horror.
When siblings Trish and Darry Jenner encounter a mysterious truck on an isolated country road, what begins as a frightening encounter turns into a nightmare involving a terrifying creature known as The Creeper. As the siblings try to figure out what they're dealing with, they find themselves trapped in one of the most memorable horror movies of the early 2000s.
We’re discussing Jeepers Creepers from every angle: the atmosphere, the jump scares, the creature design, the performances from Gina Philips and Justin Long, the movie's increasingly bizarre mythology, and the unforgettable moments that helped make Jeepers Creepers a cult favorite among horror fans.
Does Jeepers Creepers still work as a genuinely scary horror movie? How effective is The Creeper? And how does this 2001 horror classic hold up 25 years later?
Grab your popcorn, lock the doors, and join Retro Late Fee as we take a trip back to 2001 for Jeepers Creepers.
Retro Late Fee is the podcast where we review movies as if we're watching them exactly 25 years after their original release—no hindsight, no modern-day perspective, just the movies as they existed in their original era.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
2026/08/25
It’s August 25, 2001, and Jay and Silent Bob have officially struck back!
Just one day after Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back hit theaters, Mark and Carol are heading back to the View Askewniverse to review Kevin Smith’s outrageous 2001 comedy on Retro Late Fee — the podcast that asks, What if we were actually living 25 years ago?
In this episode, we take a look at Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, starring Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith, as the foul-mouthed duo discover that Hollywood has made a movie about their comic-book alter egos, Bluntman and Chronic, without giving them a piece of the action. Naturally, Jay and Silent Bob decide to take matters into their own hands and embark on a ridiculous road trip to Hollywood to stop the movie from being made.
We'll talk about Kevin Smith, the View Askewniverse, the returning Clerks characters, the movie's enormous collection of celebrity cameos, the Bluntman and Chronic movie-within-a-movie, and all the ridiculousness that made Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back one of the most recognizable comedies of 2001.
And because this is Retro Late Fee, we're not looking back from 2026 — we're experiencing the movie as it exists on August 25, 2001. No hindsight. No knowledge of what Kevin Smith, Jay, Silent Bob, or the View Askewniverse will do next. Just two people talking about a brand-new movie the day after it opened in theaters.
So grab your popcorn, fire up the VCR, and take a trip back to the summer of 2001 for our Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back review!
Retro Late Fee is a nostalgia podcast covering movies, television, music, pop culture, and entertainment exactly as if it were 25 years ago. If you love 2000s movies, 1990s nostalgia, Kevin Smith movies, View Askewniverse films, retro movie reviews, and pop culture from 2001, you're in the right place.

Tune in for the movies. Stay for 90210.
It's a great way relive old movies, 90210, and Buffy!

Great podcast!
Although it appears your “hulu tapes” for 90210 are missing the same amount of episodes due to music rights back then as well!
