The subject of salvation by faith alone is illustrated by Paul with the life of Abraham in Romans 4. We will look at “Faith Alone” in a couple of parts over the next few weeks.

What does God really feel about our rebellion and sin? We hear so much about God’s love but shutter at the idea of God’s anger; are they mutually exclusive? How can God both love and hate?

We don’t like to consider ourselves guilty of violating God’s standards. We excuse, blame shift, ignore and apologize our way to thinking we stand a chance for God to declare us innocent; how wrong we are!

There is within us a need/longing to worship. Mankind has come up with all kinds of alternatives to God, the only one worthy of adoration and praise. Are we truly living worship filled lives or are we just being religious?

One of our unnamed children was obsessed with fairness. If we did something she considered unjust, we would regularly hear, “That’s not fair”. It often came out when something happened and no one would confess or tell on each other so we would administer justice to all of them. It usually involved some form of group activity like having to pick up dog mess in the yard or not getting to watch TV or a loss of a reward like ice cream. The concept of fairness is one we all desire.

We will conclude the introduction of the book of Romans today with Paul stating his purpose for writing and that is the gospel. This whole book is emphasizing the importance of the gospel to our relationship to God and one another.

We begin a series on one of the most powerful books in the Bible: Romans. Gospel is its theme and we will be challenged to both know and apply it to our lives.

As we wrap up the series on What is Man? We will recap who we are, what is happening in our culture today and where we are going and ask is there hope for change? Are we on a loop of destruction or will things get better?

You have probably heard the phrase “woke” over the last couple of years. What is it? Is it biblical and how should we respond to those who are perpetually a victim of something?
