Glory to God in Christ
2026/10/18
The Transfiguration of Jesus in Mark chapter 9 is one of the most pivotal moments in all of Scripture. Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up a mountain where He is transformed before their eyes, giving them a glimpse of His resurrection glory. This moment follows Peter's bold confession of faith, revealing a powerful truth: faith expressed is faith rewarded. Yet fear crept in and caused Peter to reduce Jesus from the Son of God to simply a teacher. The Father's response was clear and direct: fix your eyes on Jesus and listen to Him. Moses and Elijah appeared on that mountain representing death and life, and when only Jesus remained, the message was unmistakable. He is Lord over both the living and the dead. Whatever you are facing today, you can trust His plan and keep walking with Him.
Who Do You Say Jesus Is?
2026/10/11
Description
Jesus asked His disciples a question that still demands an answer today: who do you say He is? In Mark 8, Peter declares that Jesus is the Christ, the Anointed One of God, but that revelation came not from human reasoning but from the Father Himself. Jesus then reveals something that shocks His disciples: the Messiah must suffer, die, and rise again. True discipleship means denying yourself, taking up your cross daily, and following Him with your whole life. Holding on to control of your own life will ultimately cost you everything, while surrendering it to Christ leads to something that cannot be taken away. The cross was not a tragedy. It was the heart of God's plan to redeem humanity. The question is not just theological but deeply personal: is Jesus not only the Christ, but your Lord?
Can You See Yet?
2026/10/04
In Mark 8, Jesus heals a blind man in two stages, a miracle unlike any other in Scripture. This was not a failure or a limitation. It was a deliberate choice designed to teach a deeper truth about spiritual blindness and how God opens the eyes of the heart. Every person is born spiritually blind, unable to fully see who Jesus Christ truly is. Some come to faith in an instant, like the Apostle Paul on the road to Damascus, while others move toward the light gradually over time. Either way, Jesus does not walk away from an incomplete work. He finishes what He starts. For those who know Him, the call is to bring others to Jesus in prayer, with compassion and patience, just as the blind man's friends did in Bethsaida.
Jesus is All You Need
2026/09/27
The disciples watched Jesus perform miracle after miracle and still struggled to trust Him when faced with a simple problem. In Mark 8, they stood in the presence of the One who had just fed over 5,000 people and worried about where their next meal would come from. Jesus responded not with frustration but with patient, probing questions designed to help them remember who He was and what He had already done. His final question, asking if they still did not understand, was not a rebuke but a promise. He was still working on them, and He is still working on us. When we worry, we act as if God has not already proven Himself faithful in our lives. But He has brought us through before, and He will do it again. The same Jesus who fed thousands from a handful of loaves is walking with you through whatever you are facing today.
God is Pursuing You
2026/09/20
People have always searched for God, but the real story is not about us finding Him. It is about Him finding us. In Mark 7, two powerful encounters reveal a God who actively pursues outsiders, the desperate, and the overlooked. A Gentile woman with nothing to offer but humility receives healing for her daughter, and a deaf man is freed by the compassionate touch of Jesus. These stories show us that approaching God requires no credentials, no status, and no bargaining power. We simply come as we are, fall at His feet, and trust the One who has already been pursuing us.
What is in Your Heart?
2026/09/13
It is easy to spot flaws in others, but far harder to turn that honest gaze inward. In Mark 7, Jesus confronts religious leaders who had mastered the appearance of holiness while their hearts told a very different story. He makes clear that sin does not work its way into us from the outside. It starts within, flowing out of a heart that every person is born with. The good news is that God does not leave us there. Through faith in Jesus Christ, He offers forgiveness, transformation, and the power of the Holy Spirit to help us increasingly say no to sin. Daily time in God's Word is how that transformation continues, as Scripture searches our hearts and shapes us from the inside out. The question worth sitting with is simple: What is really in your heart?
When The Going Gets Tough
2026/09/06
It has been said, “Believing in Jesus but not obeying Him is exactly what Satan does.” In Mark 6:45, Jesus has his hands full with His disciples and a very large crowd. Both are reluctant to leave his side, yet Jesus disperses and dismisses both groups—one back to their homes, and the disciples? Well, they were sent to be tormented by the weather and the wind on the Lake of Galilee. What compelled them to enter such a wilderness? Obedience. Join us this weekend to discover how obedience to Jesus leads Christians into strains the uncommitted heart will never know. Come and see why, in the end, it was totally worth it!
What You Can With What You Have
2026/09/01
The feeding of the 5,000 is one of the most well-known miracles in Scripture, and it carries a principle that still applies to every believer today. When the disciples saw a hungry crowd of thousands, they focused on what they lacked. Jesus asked a different question entirely: what do you have? Five loaves and two fish were enough in His hands to feed thousands, with twelve baskets left over. The lesson is simple but profound. A little something in our hands can be a lot of something in the hands of Jesus. Whatever gifts, time, or resources you have right now are enough to start. Bring what you have to Him, do what you can, and trust Him to do the rest.
When the Gospel Offends
2026/08/24
The account of John the Baptist and King Herod in Mark 6 cuts to the heart of one of the most pressing questions facing Christians today: why does the world push back against the faith, and how should believers respond? John was a prophet whose entire ministry was built on one message, repentance for the forgiveness of sins. When he confronted Herod about his unlawful marriage to Herodias, it was not a personal attack. It was the Word of God speaking directly into a sinful situation. Herodias responded with cold fury and eventually orchestrated John's execution. Herod, though he recognized John as a righteous man, was too cowardly to act on what he heard. He listened without obeying, and in the end, he lost everything.
Four important lessons emerge from this story. First, God's Word is designed to expose sin, and that will sometimes feel offensive. Second, when Scripture convicts us, the right response is repentance, not resistance. Third, when God's Word offends others, believers are called to stand firm with grace and truth, not anger or compromise. The story of Finnish parliamentarian Paivi Rasanen, who endured 30 hours of police interrogation for a biblical booklet she wrote and refused to renounce her beliefs, is a modern example of that kind of courage. Fourth, right now, 388 million Christians around the world are being persecuted for their faith. They are not strangers. They are brothers and sisters in Christ, and they deserve our prayers, our support, and our solidarity.
Offended by Jesus
2026/08/16
Jesus has always been offensive to some people, and Mark 6 shows us exactly why. When He returned to His hometown of Nazareth, the people who knew Him best were the ones most scandalized by Him. They could not reconcile the carpenter they grew up with and the Messiah standing before them. They wanted a powerful political deliverer, not a humble servant who would go to a cross. His exclusive claims about salvation and His call to surrender self-reliance still offend people today for the same reasons. Yet His response to their rejection was not anger. He was simply amazed at their unbelief. For those who follow Him, the challenge is to represent Christ with both genuine love and honest truth, without drifting into silence or harshness.
Faith in the Waiting
2026/08/10
In Mark 5:21-43, Jesus encounters two suffering people: Jairus, a synagogue leader whose daughter is dying, and a woman who has suffered from a bleeding condition for twelve years. Both are desperate, yet both find hope in Jesus. The sermon explores how suffering either draws us closer to God or pushes us away, and challenges us to keep trusting Jesus even when circumstances seem hopeless and others tell us to stop believing.Through this passage, we see three key truths about Jesus: He is a God who suffers alongside us, a God who is sovereign over every situation, and a God who understands our pain. We also learn that we need faith in the midst of suffering, and that Jesus speaks to our identity rather than our condition. Whether He calls a woman "daughter" or tenderly wakes a little girl, Jesus reminds us who we are and whose we are, even when death seems to have the final word.
Go And Tell
2026/08/02
In Mark 5, a man tormented by a legion of demons encounters Jesus, and his life is completely transformed. This dramatic story reveals four powerful truths: demons are real, their purpose is to destroy, Jesus has complete authority over them, and Jesus sets people free. The same bondage that held that man, whether from demonic oppression or the chains of sin, can hold anyone today. Bitterness, anger, worry, and hidden sin can control even believers. But Jesus came to break every chain. When He sets you free, your story becomes a light in a dark world, and you are called to share it.
The Wind and Waves Obey
2026/07/26
In this sermon from Mark 4:35-41, Pastor Mike explores the story of Jesus calming the storm on the Sea of Galilee. He draws out three key observations: we see the storms of life, we see ourselves in the storms of life, and we see Jesus in the storms of life. The storm in the passage serves as a vivid picture of the sudden, overwhelming trials that all people face in a broken and fallen world. Just as the disciples were caught off guard and filled with fear and doubt, so too do we often struggle to trust Jesus when life's storms hit without warning. The central message of the sermon is that Jesus does not always deliver us from our storms, but He faithfully delivers us through them. Drawing on personal experience and the witness of Peter in 1 Peter 5:7, Pastor Mike reminds the congregation that Jesus is always present, never absent, and deeply caring. The disciples' question, "Who is this?" is answered clearly on the other side of the resurrection: Jesus is the Son of God, the Lord of all, who has authority over creation and who walks with His people through every storm they face.
The Kingdom of God is Like...
2026/07/19
The kingdom of God grows in ways that often surprise us, quietly and steadily, even when we cannot see it happening. In Mark chapter 4, Jesus tells two parables about seeds that reveal how God's kingdom expands and what our role is in that process. We are called to scatter the seed of the gospel through prayer, invitation, service, and simply caring for the people around us. But we cannot make the seed grow. Only God can do that. From a baby in a manger to hundreds of millions of believers around the world today, small beginnings produce unexpectedly large outcomes. These parables give us confidence to keep planting, even when the harvest is not yet visible. God is faithful, and no seed sown in faith is ever wasted.
Parable of the Sower
2026/07/12
Jesus told the Parable of the Sower to reveal a simple but profound truth: the Gospel is like a seed, and the human heart is the soil. The farmer scatters seed everywhere without prejudice, because the Gospel is available to whoever is willing to receive it. When that seed takes root in a willing heart, the transformation is so dramatic that only God can take credit for it. But there are real enemies working against that growth, including worry, the love of wealth, the desire for comfort, and shallow faith that never goes deep. Jesus named these enemies so we would not be caught off guard by them. The question worth sitting with is this: what kind of soil is your heart right now?
