Detox: Run with Endurance
2026/09/27
In the final message of the Detox series, Pastor Kai Eilert asks: Are you living at a pace that will help you remain faithful all the way to the finish? Drawing from Hebrews 12:1–2, he compares following Jesus to a marathon with exciting beginnings, ordinary middle miles, hardship, loneliness, and moments when we need help. God forms endurance through steady obedience and gives us people and practices that sustain us. Wherever you are in the race, take the next faithful step, fix your eyes on Jesus, and keep running. The One who began a good work in you is with you for every mile.
Detox: Focus and Fuel
2026/09/20
Detox is not the destination. After laying aside the weights and sins that hold us back, we still have to ask two important questions: What am I running toward, and what is sustaining me for the race? In Week 3 of Detox, we move from detox to discipleship. Hebrews 12:1–2 tells us not only what to lay aside, but where to look: Jesus. Just as a long-distance runner needs both focus and fuel, we need to fix our eyes on Jesus and continually receive from him. We’ll explore what it means to move from running from sin to pursuing righteousness, from abstaining to feasting, and from simply removing unhealthy things to replacing them with practices that help us know Jesus, become like Jesus, and stay connected to him. Scripture, prayer, Sabbath, fasting, community, silence, service, and generosity are not the point. Jesus is the point. These practices help us turn toward him, receive from him, and allow the Holy Spirit to form us into his image. The next step is simple: choose one space you’ve created through detox and intentionally fill it with a practice that helps you focus on Jesus and receive from Jesus. Fix your eyes on Jesus. Feed your life on Jesus. And keep running.
Detox: Overcomers
2026/09/13
Hebrews 12 tells us to “lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely.” Some sins are easy to recognize and move past. Others seem to cling to us, pulling us back into the same patterns again and again. But the good news of Jesus is that sin does not have to have the final word. In Week 2 of Detox, Pastor Kai Eilert looks at what Scripture teaches about sin, temptation, and the freedom Jesus makes possible. We cannot rescue ourselves through willpower, trying harder, or simply becoming better people. Jesus has already done what we could never do. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He defeated Satan, sin, and death so that those who belong to Him can truly become overcomers.  But freedom doesn’t mean passivity. Scripture calls us to actively lay aside the sin that entangles us. That means learning to recognize the patterns behind temptation, removing access to what continually leads us into sin, taking the way of escape God provides, and bringing hidden struggles into the light.  The question is: What is the sin that clings so closely to you? Name it, take one concrete step to lay it aside, fix your eyes on Jesus, and keep running. In Christ, sin is no longer your master. The fight may not be over, but it is finally a fight you can win.
Detox: Drop the Weight
2026/09/06
What if some of the things making life harder aren’t necessarily sinful—they’re just heavy? In Hebrews 12:1–2, we’re told to “lay aside every weight” and run with endurance the race God has set before us. In Week 1 of Detox, Pastor Kai explores the difference between sin and unnecessary weight, and challenges us to examine the things consuming our attention, time, energy, and affection.  From busyness and overcommitment to social media, entertainment, news, smartphones, and AI, even good and permissible things can begin to dominate us and distract us from what matters most. The question isn’t only, “Is this wrong?” but “Is this helping me run the race?” and “Is this mastering me?” This message offers practical steps for identifying unnecessary weight, resetting unhealthy digital habits, and building intentional rhythms—a Rule of Life—that help keep Jesus, relationships, and God’s calling in their proper place. Because the goal of detox isn’t simply to become less distracted or more productive. The prize is Jesus.
