Hart, based on the eponymous 1897 novel Dracula by Bram Stoker. The film stars Gary Oldman, Winona Ryder, Anthony Hopkins, and Keanu Reeves. Set in 19th-century England and Romania, it follows Count Dracula (Oldman), a vampire who falls in love with Mina Murray (Ryder), the fiancée of his solicitor Jonathan Harker (Reeves). When Dracula wreaks havoc in London, Professor Abraham Van Helsing (Hopkins), an expert in vampirism, is summoned to bring an end to his reign of terror.

The film stars Corey Feldman, Jami Gertz, Corey Haim, Edward Herrmann, Barnard Hughes, Jason Patric, Kiefer Sutherland, and Dianne Wiest.

An international co-production of the United States and the United Kingdom,[2] the film is a loose adaptation of the 1981 novel of the same name by Whitley Strieber, with a screenplay by Ivan Davis and Michael Thomas. Its plot concerns a vampire (Deneuve) who bestows immortality and apparently eternal youth on her lovers. However, the latter proves unreliable, and her lover at the beginning of the film (Bowie) undergoes rapid ageing, leading her to take a new lover, a doctor who specialises in sleep and ageing research (Sarandon). The film's special effects were handled by make-up effects artist Dick Smith.

Dracula refuses, however, and insults Mamuwalde by making a pass at his wife, Luva. After a scuffle with Dracula's minions, Mamuwalde is bitten by Dracula and transformed into a vampire while dead. Dracula then curses him with the name "Blacula" and imprisons him in a sealed coffin in a crypt hidden beneath his castle while leaving Luva with Mamuwalde to die in the chamber.

The vampire suite continues with the hugely influential 1931 Dracula. Our meandering conversation takes us through the work of Bela Lugosi, the trouble with early talkies, iconic accents, vampires becoming sexy, the ephemeral nature of early film, the flavours of armadillos, and other such nonsense. W. Murnau and starring Max Schreck as Count Orlok, a vampire who preys on the wife (Greta Schröder) of his estate agent (Gustav von Wangenheim) and brings the plague to their town. Nosferatu was produced by Prana Film and is an unauthorized and unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula. Various names and other details were changed from the novel, including Count Dracula being renamed Count Orlok. Although these changes are often represented as a defense against copyright infringement,[3] the original German intertitles acknowledged Dracula as the source. Film historian David Kalat states in his commentary track that since the film was "a low-budget film made by Germans for German audiences...setting it in Germany with German-named characters makes the story more tangible and immediate for German-speaking viewers".
