Shortly thereafter, she began hosting ‘A Feast of Friends Radio Show’ on KTUH 90.1 FM Honolulu held every Saturday night. ‘A Feast of Friends’ ran for more than 16 years. She currently hosts the ‘Queen of Wands Podcast’ and the ‘Queen of Wands Radio Show’ on Modsnap Radio every Saturday at 2 PM (Hawaii Standard Time), which replays every Tuesdays starting at 5 PM (HST). DJ Nocturna is also one of the resident DJs and promoters for Nextdoor’s Acid Wash HNL, the long-running ‘80s dance party in Honolulu. I had the pleasure to talk to frontman HARRY STAFFORD of Manchester post-punk legends INCA BABIES about the band's latest album Ghost Mechanic Nine, released on Black Lagoon Records. We also talked about the  "Inca Babies Documentary on the Making of Ghost Mechanic Nine - From 80s Hulme to 2024."  A vibrant part of Britain's early postpunk/goth/death rock scene, INCA BABIES amassed a steady following through touring and releasing six singles and four albums, all entering the UK Indie Charts. They also recorded four sessions for BBC's legendary John Peel show between 1984 and 1988. The band reformed in 2007 and hasn't looked back since. Stafford (guitar, keys, vocals) revisits the raw guitar sounds of the band's 80s output, joined by Rob Haynes (drums, percussion), Jim Adama (bass) and Kevin G. Davy (trumpet). Cyborg Amok started in 2019 as a recording project comprised of vocalist and keyboardist Greg Bullock and his son, drummer Brydon Bullock. With a focus on performing Cyborg Amok songs in the live environment, the duo set out to write, record and present their unique music to the world. As our planet shutdown in early 2020, living in the same home allowed Greg and Brydon to continue to develop and record music together. So far, they have released two albums, their debut, self-titled album, “Cyborg Amok” (2021) and “Etiam” (2022), as well as several singles spanning 2022-24. Pins and Needles, their first full album in over two years with a projected release in 2025. I had the opportunity to chat again with vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Ashton Nyte, who founded the Darkwave/ Gothic Rock act The Awakening.  Now US-based, The Awakening was formed in Johannesburg South Africa in the 90s.  Nyte more recently released his 12th studio album also called "The Awakening. "  With a catalogue of over 300 released original songs, Nyte and The Awakening have enjoyed airplay and chart success on radio stations worldwide, with songs featured in popular television shows like 'Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin' and 'The Purge'. Nyte has contributed to several scores, working with composer Ethan Gold for the movie 'Don't Let Go' (premiering at the Sundance Film Festival) and for the movie 'Pale Horse', directed by the late Pearry Teo. Industrial-Electronic music legend Bill Leeb (Front Line Assembly, Delerium) signs to Iconic US-based label Metropolis Records to debut his solo album. Titled 'Model Kollapse', this record explores the intricacies of artificial intelligence and the very survival of humanity itself. Based in Vancouver, Bill Leeb is the mastermind behind electro-industrial scene mainstays Front Line Assembly and ambient-pop duo Delerium, having gotten his start with Skinny Puppy (under the pseudonym Wilhelm Schroeder). He is also a key member of other occasional recording projects, including Noise Unit, Intermix, Cyberaktif and Conjure One,  just to name a few. Leeb acknowledges the role that Metropolis Records has played in his recording career since the late 1990s, noting that “Metropolis Records have been and are one of the most important labels for alternative music on this planet and this album was made possible by my long-standing friendship with Dave Heckman (RIP), who continuously has supported us through the ages and gave us complete artistic freedom”. Tragically, Heckman died in the summer of 2022.  "I'm honored to fulfill my father's (Dave Heckman) lifelong vision and to be doing this project with a lifelong family friend I can honestly call family (Bill Leeb). San Francisco born artist AURSJOEN  released her debut album "Strand" via Stratis Capta Records, produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by William Faith. AURSJOEN is the project of Ria Aursjoen, who is vocalist and keyboardist for critically acclaimed post-punk outfit Octavian Winters, who released their debut EP 'The Line or Curve' in 2023, followed by their 2024 'Nebula / Velveteen' single with electronic- industrial legend Mark Pistel (Meat Beat Manifesto, Consolidated). A classically- trained singer and multi-instrumentalist, her musical past is steeped in genres ranging from Celtic and Nordic folk to darkwave and progressive metal. Aursjoen is joined by Octavian Winters bandmate Stephan Bryan Salit, who lends his creative flourish to the mix, contributing dynamic and atmospheric guitars on two songs. I had the opportunity to talk to electronic-industrial pioneer MARK PISTEL, musician, music producer, engineer and founder of the legendary industrial band CONSOLIDATED founded in San Francisco in 1988. As a multi- instrumentalist, Pistel has been the driving force behind Consolidated and has made a significant mark in the music industry and in the electronic and industrial scenes, such as his collaboration with  Meat Beat Manifesto, Hercules and Love Affair and Until December. Pistel's career also includes remixing and engineering for a variety of artists across genres, showcasing his versatility and technical prowess. He has worked with many artists such as musician/ fashion icon Grace Jones,  flamboyant disco singer Sylvester, producer and dub innovator Adrian Sherwood-  and more recently, remixing  San Francisco's Octavian Winters' latest release "Velveteen" (Mark Pistel remix), and  releasing a single  with  multi-dimensional artist Rykarda Parasol,  a song called Northern Light  and so much more. His contributions to the music world are celebrated for pushing boundaries both sonically and socially.  He  continues to innovate, blending technology with musical artistry to create dynamic, impactful soundscapes in his recording studio called  ROOM 5 . DICHRO is Pittsburgh’s electronic rock act, blending darkwave, alternative, bluegrass or  "Goth Grass."  Fueled by the symbiotic creativity of Peter Guellard and Charmaine Freeman , the band embarked on a journey of sonic exploration, crafting a debut album entitled "Stained Glass" recorded at The Church Recording Studio and later in Psychotribe Studio in Pittsburgh, is released on Distortion Productions. I spoke  to iconic Irish artist and songwriter Perry Blake who released his latest album called "Death Of A Society Girl" on Moochin' About Records. This album features  Paul McGann, best known for his roles in BBC's "Doctor Who'", "Withnail & I'"  "Empire of the Sun'", '"Alien 3'" and "Queen of the Damned ." This album also marks 26 years for Blake as a recording artist. It's also his first music in five years, following the critically acclaimed ‘Songs of Praise’ (5 Stars MOJO). Hailing from Sligo county, Perry Blake has been dubbed one of music’s great untapped resources. Polydor UK released his debut album ‘Perry Blake’ in 1998 (with three singles chosen as 'Singles of the Week' on Jo Wiley BBC Radio 1). After which he moved to France. He achieved cult status there and across Europe, releasing a string of critically-acclaimed studio albums, a live album recorded at Cirque Royal Brussels with a full orchestra, as well as the soundtracks for ‘Presque Rien’ and 'Trois Petites Filles'. The "Death of a Society Girl'" album was co-written and co-produced with long-term collaborator Graham Murphy (Clannad, Sharon Shannon, Marie Brennan). I spoke to Colorado -based shoegaze producer and founder of A Shoreline Dream, Ryan Policky and collaborator, producer and  frontman of the band RIDE, Mark Gardener. Formed in 2005, A Shoreline Dream was founded by Ryan Policky and long-standing collaborator and guitarist Erik Jeffries who both met Gardener at a RIDE show in Denver on Policky's birthday. Working together throughout 2023 between Ride tour dates, they wrapped up three songs, co-written and co-produced, by both Policky and Gardener.
