In this episode we talk about fishing with bait, both live bait and dead bait, aka, "chunking bait".  Other than live shrimp, I can't say I am that knowledgle with using bait for fishing as I mostly like to throw lures.  Throwing bait is something Manny has much more experience and does it quite often, especially for his fishing clients.  We talk about using live shrimp, mullet, and of course croaker.  For dead bait we talk about dead shrimp and "cut" bait.  Thank you for listening. In this episode, Manny and I talk about the unwritten rules of fishing on the bay.  What's the proper distance to fish next to someone else? Or how far do you go around wade fishermen with your boat?  I'm sure we've all seen the guy who ruins the bite for someone else or that jerk that just doesn't care and creates wakes with his boat thinking the bay belongs to him and he can pull up and start fishing right next to you. Well, we talk about how not to be that guy, from boat ramp etiquette, boating around kayak and wade fisherman, kayaking etiquette, and even cleaning table etiquette.   We also touch on boating around bigger boats.  Yes, a lot of it is common sense and courtesy.   Rage on the water is not worth compromising the safety of yourself and/or others. If you have ever wondered what it's like to go on a top notch fully outfitted South Texas quail hunt, then this is the episode for you. This is Manny's specialty and we get into the whole experience of hunting quail in the South TX brush country with bird dogs, quail hunting rigs, drivers, and outriders.  We go in depth as to what to expect on a hunt like this and how the dogs work and how sometimes they struggle to find birds. We also talk about how these types of hunts have the stigma of being an elitest hunt, for the wealthy, and how that's not necessarily always true. We were lucky enough to draw a deer/exotic archery hunt once again at Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge in deep South Texas.  Only half the crew this time, but we still had a great time chasing the target species of Nilgai antelope.  This is the recap of the trials and tribulations of this adventure.  It is not easy to get within bow range of these free range animals. In this episode we talk about a topic that probably doesn't get talked about enough, Safety.  Specifically, being safe while hunting.  Since most hunting is done with firearms, it goes without saying that firearm safety is a must and probably taken for granted that we (hunters) all know gun safety and respect firearms, but yet there are about 1000 hunting related accidents annually in the US and approximately 100 of those are fatal. Manny shares a few incidents that he has been involved with both as a guide and personally. I think we all assume we are safe, but carelessness or human error can happen to anyone.
