This episode of The Horse's Mouth, I had the good fortune of speaking with none other than Tim Bonython. Tim is a weapon behind the lens. He's been running around the globe chasing waves and surfers with a camera since 1978. Over the decades that followed, Tim has captured some of the most iconic moments in surfing and surf history, from the early days at Bells through to France, Spain (Nazaré), Teahupo'o (Tahiti), Fiji, and beyond. He also produced the Hawaii Nine-O VHS series, from Nine-O through to Nine-7, which were some of my fav's to plug into instead of homework after school.   Tim takes us on a whirlwind tour through a life spent chasing waves, stories, and some of the biggest moments in surfing history. This episode of The Horse's Mouth, I had the pleasure of chatting with Mark Clatworthy, founder of Ocean Grind Coffee, Torquay Mark's not long back from Central America, looking at coffee bean farms and forging relationships in the game. Mark's journey into the bean isn't a straight shot. After making a career in engineering and while travelling with his wife in South America, he stumbled upon a popcorn-making machine and thereafter, a lightbulb moment -  following his intuition and curiosity for the bean and making banging coffee, ultimately building Ocean Grind into the Surf Coast’s most respected coffee roaster. In this episode of The Horse's Mouth, I had the great pleasure of talking with Dr Dzavid Haveric. Dzavid is a force of nature — an academic of the highest order, you might say. He's one of the most well-read people I've ever met and has dedicated his life's work to history, particularly the story of early Muslims trading with the First Nations people of Arnhem Land prior to white colonisation. His published work also explores Muslims fighting alongside Australians in the Boer War and both World Wars. To date, he has had 16 books published, along with numerous university papers. Dzavid's own story is just as remarkable. He grew up in Bosnia and fled when Serbia invaded in the early 1990s, eventually making his way to Australia. Dzavid's life is an incredible story, and I was thrilled to have him on for a chat. Cheers, Dzavid.

Luke is one of those people with infectious energy — a great human, a great storyteller, and a serious gonad man. His ability to hold priority and wait for the right wave is enough to melt even the sternest of steel traps. Luke hails from the coastal Victorian town of Lorne, where he dominates both the point and the main drag. When he’s not doing that, he’s dominating the spot — and when he’s not dominating the spot, he’s at work, smashing houses together to help keep Victoria moving. He’s got a biblical trade — a carpenter — and he’s damn good at it too. And if he’s not in the surf or on the tools, he’s either hanging out with his girlfriend or trekking to some far-flung corner of the globe, sniffing out wedges and spreading the Luke Williams fairy-dust good vibes wherever he goes. Around here, she’s best known as a yoga teacher and founder of OurSpace Yoga in Torquay… but no no no—Tina is so much more than that. She’s a serious force of nature with a hell of a story to tell. Originally from New Zealand and raised in the school of hard knocks (seriously!), Tina's life took a sharp turn thanks to a chance encounter with a stranger—maybe even a guardian angel, depending on how you look at it. That moment gave her the courage to get out of her situation and go live, really live, and experience the world. And that’s exactly what she did.
