Today we're breaking down every album by Bitch Magnet, one of the most underrated post-hardcore bands of all time. Made up of core members Sooyoung Park, Jon Fine, and Orestes Morfin, Bitch Magnet didn't make a huge splash during their initial run in the late 80s/early 90s. But a successful reunion in 2011 reminded the world of just how ahead of their time they were. This is an essential band for any post-hardcore fan and one of the most underrated bands we've covered on this channel.   Intro 00:00 Origins 00:19 The First Lineup 1:37 The Band Name 2:14 The Early Gigs 2:40 Jay Leaves 2:51 Orestes Joins 3:26 Summer in Atlanta 4:47 Star Booty 6:27 Umber 9:43 Jon Gets Kicked Out 13:08 Jon Rejoins 15:06 Ben Hur 15:50 Orestes Leaves 18:11 Breakup 19:30 Reunion 20:04 Outro 21:23 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Top 77 Album Recommendations: https://every-album-ever.kit.com/0ee90183d0   Join the Patreon, it rules: https://www.patreon.com/everyalbumever   Mike's music: Pander Monkey on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple,   Mike on Instagram @pandermonkey Tom on Instagram @tomosmansounds   Tom Osman's stuff: Music on Spotify, Apple, Website Podcast on Spotify, YouTube   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mike's Picks: Ben Hur (1990) -- Best Album, Personal Favorite Star Booty (1988) -- Worst Album, Least Favorite

Today we're discussing Live at the Witch Trials, the first album by legendary post-punk band The Fall. Before The Fall became completely run by vocalist and founding member Mark E. Smith, there was a lot more collaboration and democracy. And while that didn't last long, it resulted in one hell of a great record.   Intro 00:00 Band Formation 00:50 The First Lineup 1:23 Band Name Origin 3:08 Their Forgotten First Drummer 3:30 Recording the First Single 4:03 Start of the Crazy Lineup Changes 5:03 Bingo-Master's Break-Out! 6:30 Live at the Witch Trials 7:05 Album Review 7:59 After the Album 10:52 Outro 12:16 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Top 77 Album Recommendations: https://every-album-ever.kit.com/0ee90183d0   Join the Patreon, it rules: https://www.patreon.com/everyalbumever   Mike's music: Pander Monkey on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple,   Mike on Instagram @pandermonkey Tom on Instagram @tomosmansounds   Tom Osman's stuff: Music on Spotify, Apple, Website Podcast on Spotify, YouTube   ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today we're discussing The Modern Dance and Dub Housing by post-punk pioneers Pere Ubu. Led by vocalist and only constant member David Thomas (before his death in 2025), Pere Ubu is considered one of the first ever American post-punk bands, forming in 1975. The Modern Dance and Dub Housing, the band's first two records, are considered classics and essential in shaping the entire genre.   Intro 00:00 David Thomas Origins 00:22 Rocket from the Tombs 00:48 Pere Ubu Formation 4:13 Their First Two Singles 5:09 Peter Laughner Leaves 5:27 The Modern Dance 6:01 Review (The Modern Dance) 7:24 Dub Housing 10:30 Review (Dub Housing) 12:08 Aftermath 14:52 David's Death 15:21 Outro 15:59 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Top 77 Album Recommendations: https://every-album-ever.kit.com/0ee90183d0   Join the Patreon, it rules: https://www.patreon.com/everyalbumever   Mike's music: Pander Monkey on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple,   Mike on Instagram @pandermonkey Tom on Instagram @tomosmansounds   Tom Osman's stuff: Music on Spotify, Apple, Website Podcast on Spotify, YouTube ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today we're discussing every album by Swervedriver. Led by sole consistent members Adam Franklin and Jimmy Hartridge, Swervedriver is often lumped in with other shoegaze bands of the time, but has an identity entirely their own. Today we're discussing F# A# ∞ (aka F Sharp A Sharp Infinity), the debut album by post-rock legends Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Today we're discussing every album by British punk band Rudimentary Peni. While technically considered anarcho punk, RP was far stranger and musically unpredictable--a direction spearheaded by singer/guitarist Nick Blinko. Blinko also produces the band's album art, giving them a brilliant and inimitable signature. While Peni's music has gotten far less adventurous in recent years, their mark as one of the most unique bands of all time remains.   Intro 00:00 Band Origins 00:22 Nick Blinko 00:35 The Magits 2:24 The Band's Early Days 3:09 Origin of the Name Rudimentary Peni 3:37 Their Hatred for Live Shows 3:55 First Demo 5:08 Self-Titled EP 5:47 Farce EP 8:21 Death Church 11:14 Grant Gets Cancer 14:33 Cacophony 15:04 Pope Adrian 37th Psychristiatric 21:41 Nick's First Book 25:00 Echoes of Anguish EP 26:13 The Underclass EP 27:21 Archaic EP 27:59 No More Pain EP 29:15 Great War 30:28 Final Thoughts/Recent Work 32:28 Outro 33:28 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Top 77 Album Recommendations: https://every-album-ever.kit.com/0ee90183d0   Join the Patreon, it rules: https://www.patreon.com/everyalbumever   Mike's music: Pander Monkey on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple,   Mike on Instagram @pandermonkey Tom on Instagram @tomosmansounds   Tom Osman's stuff: Music on Spotify, Apple, Website Podcast on Spotify, YouTube   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mike's Picks: Cacophony (1988) -- Best Album, Personal Favorite Pope Adrian 37th Psychristiatric (1995) -- Worst Album No More Pain EP (2008) -- Least Favorite   Albums discussed this episode... Today we're discussing Milo Goes to College by the Descendents. Widely considered one of the most influential pop punk albums ever made, Milo Goes to College blends hardcore punk with strong melodies and at times heartfelt lyrics. Driven by drummer Bill Stevenson and singer Milo Aukerman, Descendents are largely responsible for what we now consider pop punk   Intro 00:00 How They Formed 00:12 Tony Joins 3:13 Ride the Wild/It's a Hectic World 4:39 Milo Joins 5:08 Coffee Joins 6:06 Fat EP 6:54 Milo Goes to College Recording/Cover Art 8:15 Album Review 9:08 Then Milo Actually Goes to College 14:40 Bill Joins Black Flag 15:54 What Happened to Frank 16:14 Milo Returns/Reformation 16:49 Tony Leaves 17:00 The Final Lineup 17:20 Milo Goes BACK to College/ALL 17:35 More Recent News 17:53 Outro 18:23   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Top 77 Album Recommendations: https://every-album-ever.kit.com/0ee90183d0   Join the Patreon, it rules: https://www.patreon.com/everyalbumever   Mike's music: Pander Monkey on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple,   Mike on Instagram @pandermonkey Tom on Instagram @tomosmansounds   Tom Osman's stuff: Music on Spotify, Apple, Website Podcast on Spotify, YouTube   ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today we're discussing Warrior on the Edge of Time by pioneering space rock band Hawkwind. Warrior on the Edge of Time is the band's fifth album and their last with Lemmy Kilmister, who went on to form Motörhead after his firing. The events that led up to this, however, are a roller coaster of psychedelics, mayhem, and alleged backstabbing.   Intro 00:00 How They Formed 00:13 Getting Signed 00:41 Where the Name Hawkwind Came From 1:46 Their First Album 3:06 Isle of Wight Festival 4:10 Robert Calvert, X In Search of Space 6:33 Lemmy Kilmister Joins 7:18 Stacia the Nude Dancer 8:02 Silver Machine 9:21 Space Ritual 11:00 Urban Guerrilla 12:04 Their First US Tour 12:46 Album Review 13:23 Second US Tour and More Mayhem 17:08 Lemmy's Gone, Nik's Gone, Stacia's Gone 18:45 Calvert Goes Nuts 19:11 Outro 19:47  ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Top 77 Album Recommendations: https://every-album-ever.kit.com/0ee90183d0   Join the Patreon, it rules: https://www.patreon.com/everyalbumever   Mike's music: Pander Monkey on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple,   Mike on Instagram @pandermonkey Tom on Instagram @tomosmansounds   Tom Osman's stuff: Music on Spotify, Apple, Website Podcast on Spotify, YouTube ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today we're dissecting Metal Box/Second Edition by Public Image Limited (or PiL for short). Formed by John Lydon (formerly Johnny Rotten) directly after leaving the Sex Pistols, PiL is an ever-changing beast of a band that continued to push the boundaries of rock music in strange and unexpected ways. Today I'm breaking down every album by Six Finger Satellite. Formed in Providence, RI in 1988, Six Finger Satellite were an insane noise rock band unlike any other. Today we're discussing Dinosaur Jr's first album, You're Living All Over Me. Released in 1987 on SST records, You're Living All Over Me is one of the most beloved rock albums of all-time and largely responsible for the formation of alt rock, indie, and shoegaze. Here, J Mascis, Lou Barlow, and Murph crafted some of the most original and impassioned rock, with no shortage of hooks, as well as ear-piercing chaos.   Intro 00:00 Dino Jr./J Mascis Origins 00:30 Deep Wound 2:42 Deep Wound Breakup 3:31 Birth of Dino Jr. 4:20 Dinosaur self-titled 6:19 You're Living All Over Me Review 7:34 Immediate Response to the Album 11:33 The Album Title Origin 12:20 Tensions Between J and Lou 12:32 Bug 13:08 Signing to a Major 14:16 Dino Jr. Breakup/Reunite 14:45 Outro 16:14   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Top 77 Album Recommendations: https://every-album-ever.kit.com/0ee90183d0   Join the Patreon, it rules: https://www.patreon.com/everyalbumever   Mike's music: Pander Monkey on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple,   Mike on Instagram @pandermonkey Tom on Instagram @tomosmansounds   Tom Osman's stuff: Music on Spotify, Apple, Website Podcast on Spotify, YouTube     ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm breaking down every album by anarcho punk band Zounds. Formed in Reading, Berkshire, England by Steve Lake in 1977, Zounds were closely associated with other anarcho punk bands like Crass, Flux of Pink Indians, and The Mob. This week we're discussing Nothingface, the fifth album by prog, experimental metal band Voivod. I listened to every album by Laughing Hyenas. Formed in Ann Arbor, Michigan by John Brannon (of hardcore punk band Negative Approach) and Larissa Strickland (of L-Seven) in 1984, Laughing Hyenas were a noise rock band who fused elements of garage rock, punk, blues, and Birthday Party insanity. Their struggles with heroin led to chaos as the years went on, including Brannon vomiting on Drew Barrymore right before a show.  Intro 00:00 Laughing Hyenas Origins 1:23 Merry Go Round EP 7:32 You Can't Pray a Lie 11:53 Life of Crime 18:04 Crawl EP 23:00 Hard Times 26:05 Breakup/Puking on Drew Barrymore 31:33 Aftermath 34:26 Outro 36:25 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Top 77 Album Recommendations: https://every-album-ever.kit.com/0ee90183d0   Join the Patreon, it rules: https://www.patreon.com/everyalbumever   Mike's music: Pander Monkey on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple,   Mike on Instagram @pandermonkey Tom on Instagram @tomosmansounds   Tom Osman's stuff: Music on Spotify, Apple, Website Podcast on Spotify, YouTube     ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   Mike's Picks: You Can't Pray a Lie (1989) -- Best Album, Personal Favorite Hard Times (1995) -- Worst Album, Least Favorite   Albums discussed this episode... We interviewed Paul Leary, guitarist and founding member of the Butthole Surfers, and he walked us through each of their albums, one-by-one. Made up of core members Paul Leary, Gibby Haynes, and King Coffey, the Butthole Surfers are one of the most beloved and extraordinarily weird bands in history.
