Just Wear Love (Sunday, October 11, 2026 20th Sunday after Pentecost) Rev Dr. Jules Erickson
2026/10/12
Introduction In Isaiah we are given a vision of the great feast to come, when God will wipe away death forever. In Jesus’ parable about a great banquet, those invited do not come, so the invitation is extended to others. In our liturgy God spreads a table before us. Even amid anxiety and hardship we rejoice in the peace of God which surpasses all understanding. With great joy we feast at the table of the Lord, and we go forth to share the wonderful invitation with others hungering and thirsting for the abundant life of God.  Isaiah 25:1-9, Philippians 4:1-9 and  Matthew 22:1-14
Producing the Produce (Sunday, October 4, 2026 19th Sunday after Pentecost) Pr Wes Kimball
2026/10/12
Introduction In today’s gospel reading, Jesus tells a vineyard parable, which speaks of God’s love poured out in the blood of Christ, given to us for the forgiveness of sin. Grafted onto Christ the vine at baptism, we are nourished with wine and bread so that we may share Christ’s sufferings and know the power of his resurrection. Isaiah 5:1-7 Psalm 80:7-15, and Matthew 21:33-46
It is Our Duty And Delight ( Sunday Sept 27th, 18th Sunday after Pentecost) Rev Dr Jules Erickson
2026/09/27
Introduction Jesus’ parable about two sons who don’t do what they say reveals surprises in the reign of God. Paul urges us to look to Christ as a model of humility, putting the interests of others above our own. Nourished by the broken bread and shared cup, we offer our lives for the sake of our needy world.  Psalm 25:1-9, Philippians 2:1-13 and Matthew 21:23-32
Finding God in Nineveh ( 17th Sunday after Pentecost September 20, 2026) Pr Wes Kimball
2026/09/20
Introduction When God changes God’s mind about punishing Nineveh for their evil ways, Jonah is angry. Yet God is gracious and merciful, abounding in steadfast love. Matthew then narrates one of Jesus’ controversial parables in which Jesus says that the reign of God is like that of a landowner who pays his workers the same wage no matter what time of day they began to work. Let us be reminded that in baptism we receive the grace of God that is freely given to all. First Reading: Jonah 3:10—4:11, Psalm 145:1-8 and Gospel: Matthew 20:1-16
The Price of Forgiveness (16th Sunday after Pentecost September 13, 2026) Pr. Wes Kimball
2026/09/13
Introduction In today’s second reading Paul questions why we judge one another, since we all stand before the judgment of God. Yet we do sin against one another, and Jesus’ challenge that we forgive seventy-seven times reveals God’s boundless mercy. When we hear the words of forgiveness in worship and sign ourselves with the cross, we are renewed in baptism to be signs of reconciliation in the world. Readings: Genesis 50:15-21, Psalm 103:1-13 & Matthew 18:21-35
I See Triangles Everywhere (Creation in Christ Sunday Sept. 6th, 2027) Rev Dr Jules Erickson
2026/09/07
Introduction Since the seventh century, September 1 has symbolized the day of the creation of the world in the Byzantine tradition and has been the opening feast of its liturgical year, in parallel with Rosh Hashanah marking the Jewish New Year. Creation in Christ celebrates the ongoing creation of the world in and through Christ, who sustains, unites, and holds all created things. We hear today of the triune God who creates all things: sun and moon, shining stars, sea monsters, creeping things and flying birds—and, yes, even human beings. God-in-Christ still takes care of all things and invites us to join in as caretakers of God's good creation.  Readings: Genesis 1, Matthew 18:15-20 and Matthew 18:15-20
We Are the Church (14th Sunday after Pentecost, August 30, 2026), Rev. Dr. Jules Erickson
2026/08/30
The prophet Jeremiah speaks of the incurable wound of his suffering yet finds in God’s words the delight of his heart. When Peter doesn’t grasp Jesus’ words about suffering, Jesus tells the disciples they will find their lives in losing them. Such sacrificial love is described by Paul when he urges us to associate with the lowly and not repay evil with evil. In worship we gather as a community that we might offer ourselves for the sake of our suffering world. Scripture Readings: Jeremiah 15:15-21; Romans 12:9-21; Matthew 16:21-28
This is the Story of the Church (13th Sunday after Pentecost, August 23, 2026), Pr. Wes Kimball
2026/08/29
In Isaiah the people are advised to look to their spiritual ancestors as the rock from which they were hewn. Jesus declares that the church will be built on the rock of Peter’s bold confession of faith. God’s word of reconciliation and mercy are keys to the church’s mission. Paul urges us to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, using our individual gifts to build up the body of Christ. From the table we go forth to offer our spiritual worship through word and deed. Scripture Readings: Isaiah 51:1-6; Romans 12:1-8; Matthew 16:13-20
The Persistence of Hope (12th Sunday after Pentecost, August 16, 2026), Pr. Wes Kimball
2026/08/23
Introduction  In Isaiah we hear that God’s house shall be a house of prayer for all people and that God will gather the outcasts of Israel. The Canaanite woman in today’s gospel is a Gentile, an outsider, who is unflinching in her request that Jesus heal her daughter. As Jesus commends her bold faith, how might our church extend its mission to those on the margins of society? In our gathering around word and meal we receive strength to be signs of comfort, healing, and justice for those in need.   Isaiah 56:1, 6-8, Psalm 67, and Matthew 15:21-28
The Sound of GRACE (11th Sunday after Pentecost, August 9, 2026), Rev. Dr. Jules Erickson
2026/08/10
In today's gospel Jesus offers everyday images that reveal to us the reign of God: a tree that becomes a sheltering home, yeast that penetrates and expands, a treasured pearl, a net that gains a great catch. Even as we seek the riches of God's reign, the great surprise is that God's grace finds us first! Scripture Readings: Romans 8:26-39 ;Matthew 13:31-33, 44-52
God is Doing Miracles Through You (10th Sunday after Pentecost, August 2, 2026), Pr. Wes Kimball
2026/08/03
In today's first reading God invites all who are hungry or thirsty to receive food and drink without cost. Jesus feeds the hungry multitude and reveals the abundance of God. At the eucharistic table we remember all who are hungry or poor in our world today. As we share the bread of life, we are sent forth to give ourselves away as bread for the hungry. Scripture Readings: Isaiah 55:1-5; Psalm 145:8-21; Matthew 14:13-21
The Radical Baker Who Makes Sourdough GRACE (9th Sunday after Pentecost, July 26, 2026), Rev. Dr. Jules Erickson

What is a Weed? (8th Sunday after Pentecost, July 19, 2026), Pr. Wes Kimball
2026/07/20
God’s word is like the rain that waters the earth and brings forth vegetation. It is also like the sower who scatters seed indiscriminately. Our lives are like seeds sown in the earth. Even from what appears to be little, dormant, or dead, God promises a harvest. At the Lord’s table we are fed with the bread of life, that we may bear fruit in the world. Scripture Readings: Isaiah 55:10-13; Romans 8:1-11; Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23
Trust the Sower (7th Sunday after Pentecost, July 12, 2026), Rev. Dr. Jules Erickson

A Cup of Cold Water (5th Sunday after Pentecost, June 28, 2026), Rev. Dr. Jules Erickson
2026/06/29
Introduction The welcome of baptism is for all God’s children. This baptismal gift sets us free from the power of sin and death. In today’s gospel, Christ promises that the disciple who gives a cup of cold water to the little ones serves Christ himself. From worship we are sent on our baptismal mission: to serve the little ones of this world and to be a sign of God’s merciful welcome. Readings Psalm 89:1-4, 15-18, Romans 6:12-23 and Matthew 10:40-42
