From hair loss to Hair Loss Pride: A chat with Tami Wong
2026/02/02
In this week’s episode of Mom Camp: Around the Campfire, I’m joined by Tami Wong, founder of Hair Loss Pride. Hair loss is something so many women experience, yet few of us talk about openly. It often shows up quietly, wrapped in shame, fear, and the belief that we’re the only ones going through it. This chat was incredibly powerful—not just because of her story, but because of what she’s built in response to it. In this episode, Tami shares her journey with alopecia, which began in her teens, and reflects on the years she spent hiding her hair loss and the impact that secrecy had on her confidence and sense of self. What moved me most was how Tami has transformed her lived experience into meaningful support for other women. Through one-on-one coaching, wig and topper consultations, and community gatherings, she is creating the kind of space so many women wish had existed when they were first navigating hair loss—a space rooted in empathy, education, and connection. We talk about the many forms of alopecia, hair loss related to postpartum changes and perimenopause, and the identity shifts that can come with it all. This episode is a powerful reminder that when one woman shares her story out loud, it creates room for others to feel seen, supported, and less alone. Creating Confidence and Curiosity Through STEAM: A chat with Anthonia Ogundele
2025/06/30
In this week’s episode of Mom Camp: Around the Campfire, I’m joined by the incredible Anthonia Ogundele, founder and executive director of Ethos Lab Educational Society. We dive into how she's transforming after-school STEAM (science, technology, engineering, applied arts, and math) programming by centering culture, identity, and community — especially for kids who may not traditionally see themselves in STEM fields. Anthonia shares the origin story of Ethos Lab, how storytelling and cultural identity play a role in STEAM learning, and the ways her organization is helping young people find their place and voice in these spaces. We also dig into a powerful discussion about AI — the concerns, the promise, and the importance of young people (and parents!) understanding and engaging with this rapidly evolving technology. This is an inspiring, thought-provoking conversation that goes beyond the basics and looks at how we raise empowered, curious, and critically engaged young people — while also helping parents navigate this fast-changing, complex area of society with confidence and awareness. You can find the full show notes, timestamps, and Anthonia's bio and contact details at www.momcamplife.com/podcast.
From Survival Mode to Sustainable Wellness: A Chat with Lauren Bohl
2025/06/09
In this episode of the Around the Campfire podcast, I’m joined by Lauren Bohl — a functional medicine certified health coach, occupational therapist, and mom of two teens — for a powerful conversation about what it really looks like to prioritize your own well-being as a mom. Lauren shares her personal journey through motherhood, career pivots, and burnout, and how those experiences ultimately led her to support other moms in building healthier, more grounded lives. We dig into what functional medicine actually is, the difference between self-care and self-comfort, and why stress management is often the most important — and most overlooked — starting point when it comes to feeling better in our bodies and our lives. We talk about: How functional medicine and health coaching can help moms feel more in control of their health The surprising truth about balance (hint: it’s never perfect and that’s okay) Tangible ways to reduce stress and reconnect with what matters The difference between comfort and care, and why both are valid Why building connection — with yourself and your family — is at the heart of everything Whether you’re feeling stretched thin, stuck in survival mode, or just ready for a reset, this conversation is a reminder that your wellness matters too — and taking care of yourself is not just okay, it’s essential. You can find the full show notes, including Lauren’s bio, contact details, and episode timestamps at www.momcamplife.com/podcast.

But here’s the magic: the insights she shares aren’t just for parents of neurodivergent kiddos. This conversation is for every parent who's feeling the shifts in the world and wondering how to respond with more calm, connection, and intention. We talk about: The power of self-regulation (and how hard it can be) What it really means to show up differently for our kids Practical tools to help you stay grounded in the moment How Nancy’s personal journey has shaped the work she does today This is one of those episodes where you’ll find yourself nodding along and maybe pausing to write down a few of her mic drops. The Importance of Community and Inclusion: A chat with Koryn Heisler
2025/05/12
In this episode, I’m chatting with the incredible Koryn Heisler, founder of This World’s Ours Centre in Vancouver. Koryn is a former teacher and a mom of three kiddos, two of who are on the autism spectrum. We talk about what led her to start this amazing space, how it’s grown from a big dream into a vibrant, inclusive community hub, and how it's meeting a much-needed gap for neurodivergent kiddos and their families. We dive into the challenges families often face navigating support systems, the heartbreak of exclusion from camps and programs, and the magic of building a space where all kids—and parents—are welcomed just as they are. Koryn shares what balance looks like for her family, how she’s prioritized self-care, and what it was like taking that first bold step to claim time for herself by coming to Mom Camp. Koryn shares how attending Camp gave her the space she didn’t know she needed—to reflect, reconnect with herself, and realign her priorities before opening the Centre. She talks about the clarity it gave her, the community she found, and how it truly became a turning point not just for her business, but for her family. We talk about the importance of community, the power of creating space for parents to connect, and what legacy means to her. It’s a beautiful and emotional conversation, and I’m so grateful Koryn joined me to share her story.
