Jesus Sends Out the Twelve | Mere Interest or Willing Obedience? (Luke 9:1-9) | THE GOSPEL OF LUKE (Corey Huard)
2026/10/05
Jesus didn’t just call the twelve—He equipped them and sent them. They were told to go without the resources they would normally depend on, trust God to provide, proclaim the good news, and remain faithful even when people rejected their message. In Luke 9:1–9, we’re reminded that Jesus still calls His people to kingdom work today. We don’t have to be capable enough on our own, control how others respond, or guarantee the results. Our responsibility is to trust the One who sends us and be obedient to what He has called us to do. Herod heard about Jesus and became interested in Him. The disciples heard Jesus and obeyed Him. The question for us is the same: Are we merely interested in Jesus, or are we actually willing to obey Him?
Becoming Better | Jesus Raises a Dead Girl and Heals a Sick Woman | (Luke 8:26-56)
2026/09/29
On this episode of Becoming Better, Nate, Josh, and Corey sit down to talk about the last 2 messages. If you missed this past sermon or want to revisit it, you can always look back one episode to help get the most out of today's conversation.
Jesus Raises a Dead Girl and Heals a Sick Woman | Even Death Obeys Him
2026/09/28
In Luke 8:40–56, Jesus encounters two desperate people: a woman who has suffered for twelve years with an illness no one could heal, and a father whose twelve-year-old daughter is dying. One woman is considered unclean. One girl is beyond healing because death has already come. But neither is beyond the authority of Jesus. The woman reaches out to Jesus in faith and is made clean. Jairus is told not to be afraid, but to keep believing. And when Jesus takes the little girl by the hand, even death must obey Him. Luke continues to show us who Jesus is: the One with authority over creation, evil, disease, uncleanness, and death itself. And these stories are more than accounts of two people Jesus helped. They are pictures of the Gospel. Through Jesus, the unclean are made clean and the dead are raised to new life.
Jesus Restores a Demon-Possessed Man | No One Is Too Far Gone (Luke 8:26-39) | GOSPEL OF LUKE (Josh Garrett)
2026/09/21
In Luke 8:26–39, Jesus crosses the Sea of Galilee and comes face to face with a man whose life has been completely devastated by evil. He is isolated, tormented, living among the tombs, and beyond anyone else’s ability to help. But he is not beyond Jesus. The demons immediately recognize who Jesus is and know they are completely under His authority. With a word, Jesus sets the man free and begins restoring everything darkness had taken from him. This story reminds us that there is no place sin can take us that Jesus is unwilling to go. No darkness intimidates Him. No chain is too strong. No one is too far gone. And when Jesus changes our lives, our assignment is often much simpler than we make it: tell people what God has done for you.

2026/09/15

Jesus Calms the Storm | Where is Your Faith? (Luke 8:22-25) | GOSPEL OF LUKE (Jason Price)
2026/09/14
In Luke 8:22–25, Jesus and His disciples find themselves in the middle of a violent storm on the Sea of Galilee. The disciples are terrified. Jesus is asleep. But when they wake Him, Jesus simply speaks—and the wind and waves obey.    The point of this story isn’t merely that Jesus can calm the storms in our lives. Luke wants us to wrestle with the same question the disciples asked: “Who is this?”    Jesus doesn’t just have power over creation—He has authority over it because He is the One through whom all things were made. And if Jesus truly has authority over all things, then our faith in Him should extend beyond our salvation and into every part of our lives.    So when circumstances are beyond your control, the question remains: Where is your faith?
The Evidence of Listening (Luke 8:19-21) | GOSPEL OF LUKE (Josh Garrett)
2026/09/08
It’s possible to hear God’s Word, agree with it, and even know it well without ever allowing it to change the way we live. In Luke 8:19–21, Jesus makes a startling statement about who belongs to His family: those who hear God’s Word and put it into practice. Following Jesus isn’t defined by our proximity to Him, how often we attend church, or how much Bible knowledge we have. The evidence of careful listening is obedience. God’s Word begins shaping our decisions, priorities, relationships, and everyday lives. The question isn’t simply, “Have I heard God’s Word?” but, “What has changed because I heard it?”
Becoming Better | Consider Carefully How You Listen (Luke 8:16-18)
2026/09/01

Consider Carefully How You Listen (Luke 8:16-18) | GOSPEL OF LUKE (Jason Price)
2026/08/31
Jesus warns His disciples to consider carefully how they listen. Hearing God’s Word is not enough—the way we receive it will eventually be revealed by what it produces in our lives. In Luke 8:16–18, Jesus continues His teaching about the soils by showing that genuine transformation cannot remain hidden. When God’s Word takes root in a receptive heart, it produces visible fruit. But just as true transformation cannot be hidden, it cannot be faked. In this message from Luke 8, we’re challenged to examine not simply whether we hear God’s Word, but how we hear it. Are we receiving it with humble hearts, holding tightly to what God says, and persevering long enough for His Word to bear fruit? Every time the Word is opened, our hearts are responding. So, as Jesus says, “consider carefully how you listen.”
Becoming Better | The Faith That Refuses to Quit (Luke 8:4-15)

The Faith That Refuses to Quit (Luke 8:4-15) | GOSPEL OF LUKE (Josh Garrett)
2026/08/24
Everyone wants to believe they are the good soil, but Jesus gives us clear markers of a heart that truly receives His Word. In Luke 8:4–15, we see that good soil doesn’t simply hear the truth—it holds onto it, perseveres through difficulty, and trusts God to produce the crop. When following Jesus gets hard and quitting feels easier, genuine faith keeps clinging to what God has said and refuses to let go.
Becoming Better | The Slow Fade of Faith (Luke 8:4-15)

The Slow Fade of Faith (Luke 8:4-15) | GOSPEL OF LUKE (Jason Price)
2026/08/17
Faith rarely disappears overnight. In Luke 8:4-15, Jesus warns that the worries of life, the deceitfulness of wealth, and the pursuit of pleasure can slowly grow around God’s Word until our faith becomes unfruitful. The question isn’t simply whether the Word has taken root in your life, but what may be growing alongside it—and what needs to be pulled before it chokes out what God is growing in you.
Becoming Better | Untested Faith Is Untrusted Faith (Luke 8:4-15)
2026/08/11
On this episode Jason, Nate, and David sit down to talk about last weekend's message as well as their kids being back in school. As always, you can look one episode earlier to catch the sermon if you haven't yet, as that will make this conversation make a lot more sense.
