Ty Jerome scores 45 points and the Grizzlies win their season opener
2026/10/22
Fueled by a career high 45 points from Ty Jerome and a dominant rebounding performance, the Grizzlies hammered the Jazz in the first game of the season. Cam Boozer overcame a slow shooting night to post a historic plus-minus and the Grizzlies built on many of the positives of the preseason to come away with a strong showing and start the year with a victory. This episode discusses every aspect of the win.  Join the listener slack at Patreon.com/FastbreakBreakfast Please subscribe to this podcast on Youtube! Walter Clayton Jr and Micah Peavy are cut
2026/10/20
The Grizzlies finalized their opening night roster by cutting Walter Clayton Jr and Micah Peavy. Clayton, the 18th pick in the 2025 draft, was unable to overcome the crowded backcourt which made him expendable. Peavy was picked 40th last season, but did not play in the preseason after being acquired from the Pelicans in the summer. This episode discusses these cuts, the final roster and depth chart, and looks ahead to the opening of the season. The Grizzlies beat the Hornets, the roster cut down looms
2026/10/19
The Grizzlies wrapped up their preseason with a home win over the Hornets, where we again got extended looks at Cam Boozer, Zach Edey and Ty Jerome. Plus, there was an unexpected starting lineup shift as Kris Murray got a chance to play with the starters. Perhaps this was a key information gathering opportunity for the team, as they have until 4pm today to decide which two players they get rid of as they cut down to 15 contracts. This episode discusses the Grizzlies' encouraging preseason, the win over the Hornets, and the looming decision with the roster crunch. Cam Boozer looks incredible, is it for real? (Guest: Chris Herrington)
2026/10/12
The Grizzlies were able to beat the Chicago Bulls in their thrid preseason game, which was the second straight game that Memphis was able to deploy their fully-healthy starting lineup, While Zach Edey's involvement and availability is a big story, the bigger story might be just how elite rookie Cam Boozer and Ty Jerome have looked. Is three games enough to consider Cam Boozer the frontrunner for Rookie of the Year? And is late career breakout for Ty Jerome something to consider? To discuss these topics and also cover the entire preseason for the Grizzlies, including roster battles, Chris Herrington joins the show. Last call for fantasy basketball! Zach Edey plays, and Cam Boozer plays center
2026/10/08
The Grizzlies debuted their healthy starting lineup in the second preseason game, with Zach Edey returning to the court for the first time since surgery in March. They may have come up just short against the Magic and Desmond Bane, but the debut of Edey and the continued positive display from Cam Boozer made this another encouraging game. This episode discusses Edey's performance, Cam Boozer's play and the lineups that featured him at the 5, the "point per minute" offense of Ty Jerome and GG Jackson, plus goes every player that got minutes. Also: Keith takes a close look at the rotation and the clues it gives to the final roster cutdown.  Sign-up for fantasy basketball and support the show at patreon.com/fastbreakbreakfast/posts/fantasy Join the listener slack at Patreon.com/FastbreakBreakfast Please subscribe to this podcast on Youtube! The Grizzlies thrash the Hawks in their first preseason game
2026/10/06
Cam Boozer had 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Ty Jerome had 12 points and 5 assists as the Grizzlies raced out to a twenty point halftime lead in their first preseason game. It was a successful preseason debut for Boozer and the Grizzlies, that also provided a lot of information about the rotation and specific roster battles. This episode reviews the game, including Quentin Post getting the start, and discusses every player who played. Jordan Hawkins waived; the Grizzlies wrap training camp
2026/10/05
The Grizzlies completed training camp on Friday, with more talk about Cam Boozer's passing and processing, Zach Edey's health, and Ty Jerome's ability. The team also addressed their roster crunch by "mutually agreeing to part ways" with Jordan Hawkins. This episode discusses the waiving of Hawkins, Tuomas Iisalo's comments about Walter Clayton Jr, and all the latest Grizzlies news ahead of Monday's preseason game. Training Camp Report from Nashville
2026/10/01
The Grizzlies have completed two days of practices at training camp at Belmont University. Players have spoken about the high level of competition and great chemistry among the squad, and luckily the heatlh reports from training camp have stayed positive. This episode discusses the key takeaways from training camp so far, including comments from Tuomas Iisalo, Cam Boozer, Cedric Coward and Ty Jerome, plus re-examines the roster crunch and wonders if GG Jackson could actually be a candidate to get traded before the preseason ends. A healthy squad, and other Media Day takeaways
2026/09/29
The update from Grizzlies' media day was that Zach Edey is a full-go (mostly) and there were no other major injuries to report, which is a pleasant change from previous years. That means, however, that training camp in Nashville will be a fierce competition as the team must cut several guaranteed deals to get down to 15 by opening night.  But the players are excited and ready for the opportunity, as they told the media in Memphis on Monday. They talked about their season goals, their thoughts on rebuilding, defying expectations, and what they've seen already from Cam Boozer. This episode goes over the most important takeaways from what  the players, Zach Kleiman and Tuomas Iisalo said at Media Day, plus discusses the training camp roster, including Carson Cooper finally getting officially signed. 2026/09/28
The Grizzlies are hosting Media Day on Monday before kicking off training camp in Nashville on Tuesday September 29. DAZN is the new streaming home for the Grizzlies
2026/09/17
The Grizzlies announced a partnership with DAZN to be the television and streaming partner for the team. This episode discusses the pros and cons of the move, and why the Grizzlies probably had very few options available to them to broadcast their games.  Join the listener slack at Patreon.com/FastbreakBreakfast Please subscribe to this podcast on Youtube! The Grizzlies acquire Jordan Hawkins, Micah Peavy and picks for Taj GIbson and AJ Johnson
2026/09/08
The Grizzlies picked up a 2nd round pick and a 2nd round pick swap from the New Pelicans in exchange for taking on the contracts of Jordan Hawkins and Micah Peavy. To match the salary, the Grizzlies included Taj Gibson and AJ Johnson, two players who were unlikely to make their opening night roster. This move clears the way for the Pelicans to complete their signing of Bennedict Mathurin, and provides the Grizzlies some draft capital for taking on money. It also possibly further compounds the Grizzlies roster crunch ahead of training camp and a final cutdown to 15 guaranteed deals. On this episode, Keith reacts to the trade, explains the details and looks at the updated depth chart and the seven players currently fighting for three roster spots. Do the Grizzlies have the worst best player in the NBA? (Guest: Chris Herrington)
2026/08/20
What are reasonable expectations for a team that doesn't have anyone projected to come anywhere close to the All-Star game? Of all the teams in the NBA, do the Grizzlies actually have the worst best player? To answer this question, Chris Herrington joins this episode. He and Keith also discuss potential training camp battles, assumptions about the Grizzlies that might be wrong, the number of games Zach Edey can be hoped to play, GG Jackson's ceiling, and a lot more.  Join the listener slack at Patreon.com/FastbreakBreakfast Please subscribe to this podcast on Youtube! The NBA schedule is released
2026/08/14
The Grizzlies (along with every other team) got their season schedule on Thursday. They have numerous notable matchups, including the returns of Ja Morant, Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr to Memphis, plus they will also be hosting an MLK day game again. This episode goes over the schedule, the lack of nationally televised games, plus reviews a couple of news items.  (UPDATE: Yahoo Sports got this statement from Brandon Clarke's agent Mark Bartelstein addressing and correcting some of the reporting cited in this episode: https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/brandon-clarkes-estate) Join the listener slack at Patreon.com/FastbreakBreakfast Please subscribe to this podcast on Youtube! Who leads the Grizzlies in scoring, and is Richie Saunders going back to college?
2026/08/03
The Grizzlies may have a relatively deep squad, but are considered to have very little top end NBA talent. They will be depending a lot on Cam Boozer, Cedric Coward and Zach Edey to lead the way.  Is one of those frontcourt players most likely to lead the team in scoring this season? Or could it be veterans Ty Jerome or Jerami Grant? Or perhaps someone else? This episode tries to figure out which player is most likely to lead the Grizzlies in points per game this season, plus takes an in-depth look at what the rotation could look like when every player is healthy. Also covered on this episode: could Richie Saunders spurn the Grizzleis and go back to college?  Join the listener slack at Patreon.com/FastbreakBreakfast Please subscribe to this podcast on Youtube!
