219. To the Capable Ones: Fiercely Protect What Nourishes You
2026/10/12
What happens when you're the person everyone relies on... and you start to feel like you're drowning in everyone else's needs? After an unexpected hospital visit for my dad, I found myself navigating doctors, specialists, insurance, appointments, and unanswered questions, all while continuing to raise three very active children and manage the everyday logistics of life. Thankfully, my dad is stable. But this experience has reminded me of something important: Just because you're capable of carrying something doesn't mean carrying it doesn't cost you anything. In this episode, I'm talking about the hidden weight of being the capable one, how I recognize when resentment and bitterness start creeping in, and why protecting what nourishes me has become a nonnegotiable part of my life. I'm also sharing how my 90 Days of Soul Care experiment is showing up in real life, why receiving help is sometimes the most important form of self-care, and an unexpected realization I've had about how much my work, creativity, and self-expression actually nourish me. Because sometimes what we need isn't to do less. Sometimes it's to make more room for what makes us feel alive. And if you're a mother, caregiver, entrepreneur, or the person everyone turns to when something needs to get done, this conversation is especially for you. In this episode, we explore: The hidden cost of being the person who handles everything Why being capable doesn't mean being endlessly available Recognizing bitterness, resentment, and overwhelm as information about your needs Learning to receive support instead of automatically carrying everything yourself Why Soul Care matters most when life doesn't leave much room for it The importance of protecting your joy, creativity, and identity beyond your responsibilities How to start making room for yourself in the messy middle of life A few questions to sit with: What is nourishing you right now? What have you been missing from your life that you genuinely miss? What's one thing you can protect this week, even if everything else remains demanding? You deserve care. You deserve nourishment. You deserve joy. And you deserve a life that belongs to you. 218. Who Do You Want to Be on January 1?
2026/10/07
What if January 1st isn’t the starting line? We tend to arrive at the end of the year and do one of two things: scramble to accomplish everything we said we would, or decide the year is basically over and we’ll start again in January. But lately, I’ve been asking myself a different question: Who do I want to be when I wake up on January 1st? Not what do I want to accomplish. Not what do I want to weigh. Not how much money do I want to make. Who do I want to be? There are roughly 90 days left in 2026, and I’m using them for a personal experiment: 90 Days of Soul Care. And no, this is not 75 Hard: Spiritual Girl Edition. 😂 I’m not interested in a rigid checklist or starting over because I missed a day. I’m interested in becoming the kind of woman who tends to her inner world consistently—while still leaving room to ask myself what my soul actually needs that day. In this episode, I’m sharing what that looks like for me: meditation, prayer, energy work, journaling, time with God, my audio affirmation practice, creating before consuming, and even allowing my creative expression to become part of how I care for my soul.   We’re talking about discipline without rigidity—creating enough structure to keep showing up for yourself while leaving enough freedom to follow what you actually need. Because one day Soul Care might mean a guided meditation. Another day it might mean getting outside and touching some grass. And another day your soul might tell you to lay your ass on the sofa and watch Netflix. 😂 The question isn’t, Did I complete the prescribed action today? It’s: Did I tend to my soul today? I’m also sharing one practice that has made a huge difference in my creativity and business over the years: creating before consuming. Before scrolling, reading everyone else’s thoughts, or filling my brain with outside input, I’m giving my own ideas somewhere to go first.   And maybe that's part of what these final months of the year can be about. Not hustling. Not maximizing Q4. Not getting all of our shit together before December 31st. Maybe this is a seeding season. A season to tend to your inner world and nurture the garden of who you're becoming. So I'm inviting you to sit with a few questions: Who do you want to be on January 1st? What's on your heart? What are you ready to do? What are you ready to say? You don't have to know exactly who you're becoming yet. You can simply begin tending to her now. Why I’m thinking about January 1 differently this year My personal 90 Days of Soul Care experiment Becoming intentionally instead of “by accident” Why discipline doesn’t have to require rigidity Creating flow within structure The spiritual and Soul Care practices currently in my toolkit How I create and use my own audio affirmation tracks Why some of your old affirmations may have already “expired” Creating before consuming Why creative expression counts as Soul Care for me What it means to ask what your soul actually needs today Why Q4 can be a seeding season instead of a sprint What could exist in your business, family, or identity by January 1 A little Human Design + astrology exploration of why I research, experiment, organize, refine, and then teach what I learn I’ll be sharing what my Soul Care practice looks like throughout Q4 on Instagram Stories. Come follow along and tell me what you’re tending to in these final months of the year. You don’t have to wait until January to become her. Tend to the woman you’re becoming now. 217. Being Seen Without Being Completely Exposed
2026/10/01
It’s been almost seven months since I sat down behind this microphone. Not because I haven’t had anything to say. I’ve had notes, ideas, conversations that could have become episodes—and plenty of moments when I thought, I should talk about this. But I’ve also been navigating a significant season of change and becoming, and figuring out what it means to use my voice when I don’t necessarily want to share everything I’m living through. At my Walking Mom Home book party in September, I found myself putting words to so much of what I’ve been sitting with: trusting the unfolding, allowing ourselves to outgrow old identities, letting other people become new versions of themselves, and learning that being seen is not the same thing as being completely exposed. So in this episode, I’m sharing the talk I gave that night—and reflecting on what it means for me now as I find my way back to the microphone. We’re talking about the many versions of ourselves we become throughout a lifetime, the hundreds of tiny acts of courage that can happen between hiding and allowing ourselves to truly be seen, and why privacy and authenticity are not opposites. I’m also sharing the three questions I ask myself when deciding what belongs publicly: What am I sharing? Why am I sharing it?Can something I’ve lived serve someone else if I allow it to be seen? Not everything meaningful in your life has to become content. You’re allowed to have boundaries. You’re allowed to evolve beyond the version of you other people know. You’re allowed to share at the level at which you’re ready to be seen. And you’re allowed to keep becoming. In this episode: Why I stepped away from the podcast for almost seven months What my Walking Mom Home book party taught me about trusting the unfolding Letting go of identities and versions of ourselves we’ve outgrown Allowing the people we love to become, too My own evolution from being terrified of visibility to podcasting, speaking and writing a memoir The difference between vulnerability and complete exposure Why privacy doesn’t make you inauthentic Using discernment when deciding what parts of your life become public Finding my way back to my own voice Why I’m feeling called back to helping other people use theirs And if using your voice through podcasting is something that’s been sitting on your heart, I’m returning to that work, too. Podcasting with Heart is my self-paced course for the person who wants to learn how to create and launch a podcast themselves. And I’m opening a small number of private Podcast in a Day intensives for the person who knows they want a podcast but wants support taking it from an idea to publish-ready. 216. What You Need to Know Before Entering the Mother Line: Your Questions, Answered.
2026/03/17
There are the questions you ask out loud…and the ones you’re holding quietly underneath. In this episode, I’m answering both. This is a grounded, transparent walkthrough of what the Mother Line work actually is, how it works, and what you’re stepping into if you feel called toward it. Not to convince you. Not to sell you. But to give you the clarity you need to make a clean decision. Inside This EpisodeWe cover: What the Mother Line is — and what it isn’t Why this work goes beyond coaching, therapy, or certification What it means to work with your “spiritual soup” (inherited patterns + lineage) Why the goal isn’t to be perfect… but to be different Common Questions, Answered Is this only for doulas or birth workers? Do I have to be a mother to do this work? What if I have a good relationship with my mom? How do I know if this is for me? How the Work Actually Works What the 6-week container looks like How Expansion Principle (EP) energy healing works Why healing happens in layers Why you do not need to relive trauma for this to work What makes this different from therapy Is this work safe for your nervous system? What if you don’t understand how it works? What if things you’ve already worked on come back up? What You Can ExpectThis work doesn’t promise perfection. It changes: how you respond how you relate what you carry and what you no longer do It impacts your: relationships motherhood identity business and the way you move through your lifeRetreat + Logistics November 5–6, 2026 Indian Rocks Beach, Florida Intimate, limited capacity Lodging not included (group coordination available) Retreat ticket includes access to the full 6-week virtual program. A Final Note You don’t need to understand this work for it to work. You need to feel it. 215. The Doula Era Is Evolving, Expanding — And I’m Back
2026/03/11
You may have been taught that the most important thing you bring into a birth room is your training. Your certifications. Your techniques. Your beautifully packed doula bag. And while those things matter… They’re not the deepest layer. The most important thing you bring into the birth room is your nervous system. A Shift Is Happening Over the past several years, the doula industry has moved through different phases. There was a strong focus on certifications and techniques. Then came the rise of digital doulaship—bringing education, support, and resources to families online. And now something deeper is emerging. The doula era is evolving. The work is expanding. Because no matter how much you prepare your clients—or how much you educate yourself—you can’t out-prepare a dysregulated nervous system. In This Episode, You’ll Hear About • Why the nervous system may be the most important thing you bring into a birth space • How the doula industry has evolved over the past several years • Why regulation changes the entire energy of the birth room • How inherited patterns can influence how you hold space for clients • The connection between nervous system work, burnout, and sustainability in birth work • Why healing through the mother line changes both your work and your life The Deeper Layer of Birth Work When you begin regulating your nervous system and healing the patterns held in your body—especially those inherited through generations of women—something shifts. Your presence in the birth room changes. The way you hold boundaries in your business changes. Your capacity to hold space for clients changes. Even your relationship with power, money, and leadership can begin to shift. This isn’t just about birth. It’s about how you live and lead as a woman. Why I’m Back I’m stepping back into the doula world because the conversation is evolving. And the next era of birth work isn’t just about techniques or certifications. It’s about regulated nervous systems. It’s about healing what we carry in our bodies and in our lineage. It’s about becoming fully expressed versions of ourselves rather than living a modern-day version of our grandmothers’ survival. If This Work Is Calling You The Mother Line program is where we go deeper into this work together. Inside this experience, you’ll explore healing inherited patterns through mother line work and Expansion Principle energy healing. The next cohort begins March 23 and includes: • a six-week virtual container • an intimate in-person retreat option in November • limited private support opportunities If you feel called to explore this deeper layer of healing and leadership, you can apply here: https://www.nicholejoy.com/mother-line
214. Reclaiming the Power of Your Mother Line | Healing the Patterns You Inherited
2026/03/07
What if the way you react to life… didn’t start with you? If you’ve ever noticed yourself responding to your children, your relationships, or situations in life in ways that don’t fully match the woman you know you want to be, there may be deeper patterns at play. Not everything you carry started with you. In this episode, you’ll explore the concept of your mother line—the generations of women who came before you and the energetic, emotional, and nervous system patterns that move through that lineage. Nichole explains your “spiritual soup,” the information you inherit from your life experiences, your soul’s journey, and your lineage. But you don’t only inherit trauma. You also inherit resilience, survival wisdom, and power from the women who came before you. In this episode, you’ll Learn the three phases of mother line healing: Awareness - Recognizing that some of the patterns you carry did not originate with you. Healing - Shifting inherited information at the origin. Embodiment - Living differently as those patterns begin to change. Nichole also shares how Expansion Principle energy healing works and why healing inherited patterns doesn’t require reliving trauma or knowing every detail of what occurred in previous generations. Through personal stories—including her own birth experiences and motherhood journey—Nichole explains how lineage healing has changed the way she parents, leads, and moves through the world. This work isn’t about becoming perfect. It’s about becoming different. Why This Work Matters When you shift patterns in your lineage, the ripple effect moves forward—into your children, your relationships, and the generations that come after you. If you’re listening to this and recognizing yourself in these patterns, you may be ready to begin this work in a deeper way. The Mother Line program is where we do that together. This experience includes a virtual container and an optional intimate in-person retreat (November ‘5-6, 2026) where we focus on healing inherited patterns through mother line work and Expansion Principle energy healing. Participants in the virtual experience also receive early access to Nichole’s upcoming memoir: Walking Mom Home. This work changes how you live as a woman—and what your children inherit from you. 213. How Motherhood Impacts Your Teeth: A Holistic Conversation with Dr. Yu, Periodontist
2025/10/19
In this episode, Nichole sits down with Dr. Robert Yu, a holistic-minded periodontist based in St. Petersburg, Florida, to explore how pregnancy, postpartum, and the seasons of motherhood can impact your teeth, gums, and overall oral health. Dr. Yu was the surgeon behind Nichole’s year-long dental healing journey — removing old root canals, clearing infections, rebuilding bone with grafts and a sinus lift, and placing a ceramic dental implant. Together, they dive into the often-overlooked connection between motherhood, hormones, nutrient depletion, bone health, and gum disease — and what every woman should know about supporting her mouth and body through each stage of life. This conversation bridges holistic dentistry and conventional periodontal care, offering education, empowerment, and real-life insight for women who want to approach dental health from a whole-body perspective. What You’ll Learn in This Episode How pregnancy and postpartum nutrient depletion affect bone and gum health The link between periodontal disease and pregnancy outcomes like preterm or low-birth-weight babies Why many OB-GYNs and midwives don’t emphasize gum exams — and why they should The difference between traditional titanium implants and metal-free ceramic (zirconia) implants The mouth–body connection: how oral bacteria can influence heart health, inflammation, and systemic disease Dr. Yu’s preferred vitamin and mineral support for jawbone healing (vitamin D, calcium, potassium, and Metagenics Bone Builder Why informed consent matters in dentistry — and how to advocate for yourself as a patient The truth about bone graft materials (human, animal, and synthetic) and how to make an informed choice Dr. Yu’s thoughts on light therapy, microcirculation, and energy-based healing for post-surgical recovery The power of collaboration between dentists, functional medicine doctors, and holistic providers Pregnancy and breastfeeding can deplete minerals and weaken bone structure, including the jawbone. Healthy gums support a healthy pregnancy — untreated gum disease has been linked to preterm birth. A gum exam (periodontal exam) is just as important as a dental cleaning for expecting or new moms. Bone and gum health are influenced by vitamin D, calcium, and hormonal shifts. Holistic dentistry bridges prevention and science, empowering women to make choices that align with both intuition and evidence.
212. Holistic-ish Dentistry Meets Energy Healing My Personal Story (Part 1)
2025/10/02
Root canals. Bone grafting. Energy healing. Moon cycles. And a year without a back tooth. In this candid solo episode, I walk you through the full-circle story of undoing two old root canals, healing bone loss, navigating surgical dentistry, and doing it all in my own way—blending conventional medicine with Expansion Principle energy healing, crystal support, and loads of intuitive prep work. You’ll hear: Why I chose to remove my root canals and what influenced my decisionHow I found the right providers (yes, plural) and vetted themThe difference between the two surgeries—and why one was way more challenging than the otherHow I used energy healing, moon phases, and herbal support to guide recoveryWhat this journey taught me about shame, teeth, motherhood, and self-trust 🦷 This is Part 1 of a 2-part series. In Part 2, I’ll be interviewing my periodontist to bring you the expert lens. 💬 Got questions you’d love me to ask him? DM me or email me ASAP! 211. Mother’s Day Is Complicated—Let’s Talk About It
2025/05/10
Mother’s Day is a complicated one for me—and I know I’m not alone. In this episode, I open up about my relationship with Mother’s Day, especially after losing my mom just over a year ago. This isn’t a conversation about flowers and brunch plans (though I’m not knocking either). This is a deeper reflection on grief, forgiveness, healing, and the legacy we carry—and sometimes rewrite—as daughters and mothers. For most of my life, I had a complicated relationship with my mom. It wasn’t something I talked about publicly while she was alive, but now, as I work on the book about our story, I feel called to share more—especially for those of you who also didn’t grow up with the Hallmark version of a mother-daughter relationship. In this episode, I share: Why Mother’s Day can feel like grief, even if your mom is still alive What helped me begin to forgive my mom—and why it didn’t require a conversation The full-circle moment at our final Mother’s Day together Why I chose to write a book instead of telling our story on social media A powerful reframe around forgiveness, boundaries, and self-honoring What to do when you feel like “celebrating” just doesn’t feel aligned Whether you’re missing your mom, navigating a strained relationship, or just feeling the heaviness this day can bring—I hope this episode meets you with compassion and validation. And as a gift, I’ve added a link to access a guided healing meditation —a gentle energy transmission through the mother line. You can revisit it anytime. It’s not a one-time fix, but it’s a sacred step. 🌸 Listen in and remember: You can honor Mother’s Day in your own way. You can feel grief and gratitude in the same breath. You can hold the full complexity of love, disappointment, and healing—and still choose softness. If this resonates, I’d love if you shared the episode with someone who needs it. 210. Channeling: My Experience with Dr. Alexis Romeu and Simon
2025/04/24
I’m so excited to bring you this conversation with my dear friend and mentor, Dr. Alexis Romeu. We’ve been connected since 2017, and if you’ve been around here for a while, you already know she’s no stranger to the podcast. But if this is your first time meeting her, let me properly introduce you to someone who has truly changed my life. Dr. Alexis is a doctor of Chinese medicine turned metaphysical teacher, channel for a trans dimensional being named Simon, founder of the Expansion Principle energy healing technology (which I’m now a practitioner of), and author of two incredible books. Go off friend! In this episode, we dive deep into what channeling actually is (spoiler: it’s not just “I had a great idea!”). We unpack the difference between readings, psychic abilities, mediumship, and true trans-channeling—where consciousness outside of you speaks through you. Alexis shares her journey of connecting with Simon, how Expansion Principle came to be, and the importance of energetic discernment (because no, you don’t just let any ol’ being borrow your vessel). We also talk about: How channeling is different from psychic readings (and why not all "messages" are created equal) Why the guidance from Simon has been a game-changer for me—especially during the hardest seasons of my life How Expansion Principle has opened up my intuitive abilities (even though I didn’t come from a traditional healing background) The beauty of zooming out to see life from a higher perspective, especially when humaning feels like… a lot What to expect if you’re joining us for an in-person channeling experience (yes, Alexis is coming to Tampa!) If you’ve ever been curious about channeling, energy healing, or how to navigate life with a little more cosmic support, this conversation is for you. Plus, we share some personal stories—including how Simon casually dropped details about my book cover (that I never told Alexis) and why fairies made a surprise appearance. ✨ Tampa friends—don’t forget, Alexis will be here on May 1st for two special events: 1️⃣ A live channeling experience with Simon 2️⃣ A Meet the Author event for her newest book The Art of Sacred Relating I’ll drop the links below so you can grab your spot. And if you’re not local, don’t worry—there are plenty of virtual ways to connect with Alexis and Simon too. Trust me, once you experience it, you’ll get why I’ve been showing up twice a month (plus private sessions) for years now. 208. Want to create your legacy? Here’s how I’m doing it…
2024/11/27
In this episode, I’m diving into something that’s been on my heart for a while now: legacy. You know, the kind of stuff that makes you stop and think about what really matters in life. Losing my mom earlier this year, and my brother years ago, has completely reframed how I view life, work, and what we leave behind. Again. Today, I’m talking about how we can create a legacy that feels authentic, meaningful, and (surprise!) doable. Especially for us entrepreneurs—what happens when we shift from chasing revenue goals to creating something that lasts longer than an Instagram story? Here’s What I Cover in This Episode: What Legacy Means to Me (and Maybe You, Too): I break down how the traditional definition of legacy doesn’t quite cut it anymore—and why I think we’re living in a time where legacy can be so much more. Why Loss Has Shaped My View of Legacy: Personal stories about losing my mom, my brother, and how those experiences have guided me to focus on leaving an impact—both for my family and the world. Legacy Through an Entrepreneurial Lens: What if your business wasn’t just about making money? I share how shifting my perspective has helped me realign my work with my deeper values. Legacy-Building Tools of 2025: I geek out on my favorite ways to leave your mark: Writing a book (the highs and lows of this massive mountain to climb). Podcasting (spoiler alert: it’s more than a marketing tool). Social media (yes, if you save and archive your content thoughtfully). Digital courses (they’re not just for revenue—they’re timeless capsules of your wisdom). It’s Personal, Not Perfect: I share why your legacy doesn’t have to be a bestseller or a viral hit. It just has to be you. And it doesn’t all have to be public—your legacy can include things meant only for your family or even just yourself. What I Hope You Get From This Episode: A fresh perspective on why your life’s work matters. Inspiration to create something meaningful without getting caught up in perfectionism. Practical ways to start thinking about (and building!) your legacy today, even if you’ve never considered it before. Don’t Forget: If you loved this episode, I invite you to share it with someone who could use a little inspiration today. Let’s chat! What does legacy mean to you? DM me your thoughts on Instagram or email me—I’d love to hear your take. As always, thanks for being here with me on this journey. You being part of my world? That’s part of my legacy. — Nichole

207. I said I was dancing with grief and the universe delivered
2024/09/25
Hey everyone, grief journey update ahead. The last episode dropped on September 5th, a Thursday, and the feedback I got really warmed my heart. Some of you shared kind words, and it felt good to know my vulnerability resonated with you, especially when it comes to grief. But, honestly? I’ve been dragging my feet about recording again. Maybe it was a vulnerability hangover, or maybe I just needed some time. When we left off last episode, I was talking about how I was dancing with my grief. Well, let me tell you how the universe delivered. On September 6th, the day after sharing the most recent episode, my dad had a birthday party in his building—music, champagne, dancing, the works. When I walked in, he was already in his element, dancing and having a great time. It was beautiful to see him enjoying himself, but when he noticed me and gestured for me to join him, I was hit with a wave of overwhelming emotion. The last time I had danced with my dad was at my wedding in 2015, nine years ago. The emotions hit me like a bag of bricks. I suddenly felt like I couldn’t handle it. I considered passing on the offer because I was afraid of losing my composure. But then I gave myself a quick pep talk, “Get it together! You’re not going to miss this chance.” So, I went out there, and I’m not gonna lie—I lost it. I ugly cried right in front of everyone. Talk about a vulnerability moment! I know I’ve said that crying is healthy, and it is, but doing it in front of a room full of people is a whole different ball game. It felt like the universe was reminding me, “Hey, you said you wanted to dance with your grief. So here you go.” And that’s exactly what I did. I ugly cried and danced with my dad for the first half of the song, and it was intense. I realized that I was not just dancing with my grief, but also with my dad’s grief—his loss of my mom, the love of his life, despite how many years it had been since they were together. Sometimes I get so caught up in my own grief that I forget he’s grieving too. He’s been dealing with this since April, and it hit me that we were both in this dance together. I felt it was important to share this moment because I needed a bridge to move forward from our last conversation. I hope this resonates with some of you who might also need that transition. It’s okay to feel sad, to be vulnerable, and to express those feelings—especially in a world that often tells us otherwise. So, as you listen, remember it’s okay to dance with your grief, to cry when you need to, and to pep talk yourself into facing those tough emotions. Here’s to a week of honoring our feelings—whatever they may be. xo
206. Does she have it all together? Or has she built up her emotional intelligence?
2024/09/05
In this episode, we’ll dive into a topic that’s been relevant for me lately: processing and embracing emotions, including grief. Here’s a look at what you’ll hear in the episode: Not a Therapist: Just to be clear, I’m not a doctor or a therapist. But over the past eight years, especially since I was pregnant with my second child, I’ve worked hard to build my emotional intelligence and learn to recognize and process my feelings. Crying as a Tool: I want to talk about crying—something that makes a lot of people uncomfortable. Personally, I cry almost every day, and I’ve come to see it as a valuable way to process emotions. Old Emotions: I’m still working on clearing out emotions I’ve been holding onto for over 30 years. It’s been a long journey, but one that I’ve learned so much from. Finding Safe Spaces: It’s crucial to find spaces where I feel comfortable expressing my emotions. These safe spaces are defined by trust and the ability to hold my feelings without judgment. Safe Spaces Defined: For me, safe spaces aren’t just physical places but are defined by the trust and emotional capacity of the people around me. Emotional Capacity: Not everyone has the emotional bandwidth to support others’ emotions. I’ve learned that it’s okay to ask if someone has the capacity to listen before sharing my feelings. Parenting Through Grief: I’ve learned to model healthy emotional expression for my children, showing them that it’s okay to cry and talk about our feelings openly. Teaching Through Example: By sharing my emotions with my kids, I aim to teach them how to handle their own grief and feelings in a healthy way. Experiencing Joy: It’s been challenging but essential for me to allow myself to feel joy even when I’m grieving. I’ve learned that both joy and sadness can coexist. Finding Beauty in the Storm: Embracing both sadness and joy, and recognizing the beauty in difficult times, helps me find balance and healing. Thank you for tuning in, friend. I hope this episode helps you navigate your own emotional landscape with greater ease, flow, and compassion. xo
