Rebrand Coming January 27th at Midnight
2026/01/21
________________________________________ Here is a transcript of what's in this episode. Bob talks first , the following will be read by a voiceover. This is an important message for all OTR listeners, and I want to make sure I reach everybody. This is also in the description, but it’s presented verbally next. This will bring everyone up to date on the exciting rebrand starting January 27th at midnight. So, what’s happening OTR – Achieving Mental Health for Real is heading into a major rebrand on January 27th, where we’re calling the brand OTR Universe — the structure this project was always meant to have. First the new logo, which you may have seen on the social sites. Plus, OTR Universe will be anchored from a brand-new home website, which becomes the listener portal. The entire site gets a full rebuild in the rebrand, including new and updated menu names and functionality, but will still have the links to the popular podcast player as before. The following describes the functionality accessible from the new home main web page: OTR Public Square — the new front door This is where people show up, speak freely, and participate. This is a repurpose of the Ki-Fo dot com site currently called Real Plus. The site is design to be for a sponsor site and has places to donate all over the site, I took out all that I could, but to cut corners I needed a ready built site to establish a community posting and message board which will be renamed to Public Square in OTR Universe and accessible from the main home site I have several objectives with OTR Universe. Mostly to reach listeners to come share your stories and meet others that will validate them, and that’s what it’s all about. Be a part of OTR Universe and achieve mental health for real, To thank you for trying to connect, we will give you free Real Premium for at least a full year to try the benefits and decide if you want to renew for another year for six cents a day. You can activate now by sending an anonymous post addressed to staff or Public Square. Write that you want it for free and you will actually not start the year until all benefits are rolled in one at a time. You will receive each benefit as soon as there rolled out, full details ahead. I just ask you to consider it, so we can form a small healing community. This is my dream but only your courage and support can make it come true. There will be two ways to post to Public Square 1, Anonymous Posting Zero tracing information. You post. We receive only the post. You can choose to send it to staff only, or you can have it appear on the Public Square post page. This process is not posted live since it’s not tied to the Public Square directly. So, no logon or email needed. It will be transferred to the Public Square post page throughout the day automatically. It’s the only way to do totally anonymous posting. 2. Named Live Posting Live interaction with other Public Square users and staff. More features. More connection. Requires free sign up to Ki Fo.com with logon id name and password and any email address. The logon id does not have to be an email address. No obligation. No subscription. You can use a temporary email address and delete that email address after you sign-up — you remain virtually anonymous. It is a little more work, but it gets posted immediately. This process is available today from the home website, the above only details how it will be for the rebrand. Personal Note I know the community thing is currently not popular and I understand. I felt embarrassed and shame before I first came out with my full name. All I’m saying is you may be carrying this shame weight around too long, it’s really time you shared 101 percent anonymously. You have my word. The podcast app you listen to now takes more info from you. Because anonymous posting takes zero. Let it out,...
Turning Feminine Pain Into Personal Wisdom — A Conversation That Reaches Men Too
2026/01/14
In this episode, we sit down with Kerry — mother, shaman, and newly published author of My Inner Heroine: Exploring Feminine Pain — to explore a life shaped by trauma, awakening, and radical self‑belief. As you can hear in the episode, her wisdom can apply in general to men. Kerry grew up in a single‑mother household in Southern California, navigating isolation, social struggle, and the early pressure to grow up fast. Her path carried her from Hot Dog on a Stick at 14, to studying Chinese and Religious Studies, to a marriage sparked in Tibet, to motherhood, divorce, and a corporate career in compliance. But the turning point came in 2015, when her mother died on Kerry’s 45th birthday — a moment that cracked her life open and forced her to confront the psychic gifts and childhood wounds she had long avoided. What followed was a decade of upheaval and transformation. Kerry speaks candidly about the darkest moments, including a suicide attempt, and the unexpected teachers who helped her rebuild: shamans, psychologists, physicists, yogis, and the men who mirrored her deepest wounds back to her. From a chess champion to decorated fire academy instructors to a former FBI assistant special agent in charge, each relationship became a catalyst for self‑understanding and spiritual expansion. Kerry also shares the profound synchronicities that led her to accept a past‑life identity as Mary Magdalene — a belief that reshaped her understanding of feminine pain, spiritual lineage, and her purpose in this lifetime. This conversation is raw, unfiltered, and deeply human. Kerry brings a rare willingness to go into the places most people avoid — trauma, identity, mysticism, sexuality, and the messy, nonlinear path of healing. Her story is an invitation to anyone carrying emotional wounds to transform them into wisdom, power, and self‑trust. Creating Spaces with Natalie Bedard (ADHD, PTSD,OCD). We open with Natalie Bedard (NatNat), an Energy Healing Specialist who helps people regulate the nervous system and transform anxiety into empowerment through her brand LiftOneSelf. She’s been featured on multiple podcasts, always reminding us that self‑care is personal and that understanding our own biology is essential. This episode is special because NatNat turns her insight toward me. I open up about the negative voices in my head — the ones many listeners know too well. It gets emotional, and she meets it with compassion, clarity, and spiritual guidance. She offers practical ways to quiet those inner demons, plus a short meditation to help ground the moment. You might want a box of Kleenex. I certainly did. I don’t pretend to have it all together — I’m traveling toward home just like you. Sleep Lists for the Sleepless Next is Helen Sernett, host of the podcast Sleep Lists and a dedicated sleep and wellness enthusiast. Her show uses simple, soothing lists — numerical, chronological, or alphabetical — all designed to help listeners drift off before the episode ends. And if you’re still awake, she offers gentle suggestions to help you settle into sleep. With six episodes per season, quarterly releases, and special holiday editions, there’s always something calming to queue up. We talk about alternative sleep routines for people without traditional schedules — remote workers, flex‑schedule professionals, college students, and retirees — and how daytime napping can support better rest. Good sleep is essential to mental health, and Helen’s podcast may be exactly the natural support you need. Advocacy for Inclusion - Neurodivergent Acceptance into Society Next we talk to Khushboo Chabria, a neurodiversity specialist, career coach, and mental health advocate reshaping how workplaces and schools include neurodivergent people. We talk about why ADHD, Autism, and other forms of neurodiversity are not disorders, and why every brain deserves the right accommodation. Khushboo is the coauthor of Neurodiversity for Dummies (including the full ADHD chapter) and leads transformative work through Neurodiversity Pathways at Goodwill of Silicon Valley. Drawing on her therapeutic background, leadership experience, and her own ADHD journey, she brings a powerful, authentic perspective to this conversation. Goodbye Anxiety, Depression, Addiction & PTSD: The Life-Changing Science of Dual-Brain Psychology. Dr. Fredric Schiffer joins me to discuss his groundbreaking new book, Goodbye Anxiety, Depression, Addiction & PTSD: The Life‑Changing Science of Dual‑Brain Psychology. A best‑selling author, psychiatrist, public speaker, and part‑time assistant professor at Harvard, Dr. Schiffer has spent decades studying how early trauma, brain laterality, and emotional patterns shape our mental well‑being. His work explores how the two hemispheres of the brain can function like two competing minds — and how treating the more troubled side can reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, PTSD, and addiction. As founder of the Dual‑Brain Psychology Institute, Dr. Schiffer has developed innovative techniques to help people access and heal the wounded part of the mind, including a surprisingly simple method involving something as ordinary as a piece of junk mail. His new book lays out these discoveries and the science...
Overcoming Binge Eating - Rewiring the Brain
2025/12/19
Amber Abila helps women stop binge eating and overeating by rewiring their brains so they can finally feel normal and in control around any food. Over 3% of the US population struggles with binge eating and so many more do so in silence. For years, Amber struggled with her own relationship with food, trying everything from therapy and calorie counting to weight loss coaching. Nothing seemed to work until she discovered, through coaching and psychology, that there was nothing “wrong” with her at all — she simply needed practical brain tools to break free from the cycle. By learning how her unconscious brain was driving habitual eating patterns, Amber began making dramatic shifts in her habits and her life. Now she shares those same evidence‑based tools with others, showing women that freedom from food obsession is possible and that lasting change doesn’t come from more discipline or stricter diets, but from understanding and retraining the brain. In this episode, Amber opens up about her journey, the science behind binge eating, and the strategies that helped her reclaim peace with food. Her mission is clear: to ensure no one feels as alone or broken as she once did, and to empower women everywhere to step into confidence, resilience, and joy in their everyday lives. Transforming Anxiety, Stress, and Trauma through Tapping - Treatment for PTSD and Other Mental Issues
2025/10/29
Amy Vincze struggled with PTSD from childhood trauma in her family growing up. Her father was an alcoholic who left home when she was just four. This led to her PTSD later in life as she felt her father’s abandonment must be because there was something wrong with her. This led to anxiety, and depression and she believes led to her cancer at just 31. Amy was always fascinated by the complexities of human behavior and driven to uncover the motivations behind people’s actions. This led her to navigate her own struggles. She finally came across Tapping—a transformative tool that not only helped her manage her symptoms but also allowed her to address and release the root causes of her suffering. Through tapping, she unlocked a profound secret: true healing isn’t about masking symptoms; it’s about resolving the patterns that create them. Amy goes over in detail how to use this technique which can make a major difference to someone with PTSD or other mental health conditions. Just a friendly warning, It may be safer to try this with a councilor since stirring up painful events may become an issue if practiced alone. Just a Person - Living Authentically through ADHD, PTSD, using CMI
2025/09/12
This episode is packed with goodies as we get down to it with our guest Estefana Johnson who shocked me when i asked her to describe herself. She noted that she was "Just a Person" and didn't read off a list of her many accomplishments. We talked about how you should live as your authentic self and never mask and be your real self. Later we got into how Estefana is leading the launch of Critical Memory Integration (CMI™), a groundbreaking therapeutic model that dares to ask: What if talk therapy isn’t enough? Estefana Johnson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and experienced trauma therapist with over two decades of experience in mental health. She began her career in 2001 as a Behavioral Health Technician, briefly stepping away in 2005 to teach in Japan. Her diverse background spans multiple roles and settings, including residential treatment for at-risk youth and medical social work. CMI is turning heads in the mental health world by challenging the long-held belief that trauma can simply be desensitized or cognitively reframed. Instead, it dives beneath the surface, helping clients uncover and rewrite the unconscious survival strategies still dictating their lives long after the trauma has passed. She is currently a Dosing Session Monitor at Lighthouse Psychiatry and TMS in Gilbert, Arizona, contributing both to clinical care and research trials exploring the therapeutic use of psychedelics. Real Plus and Premium Plus Special Episode
2025/08/28
This is a special episode explaining in detail the new changes coming up for OTR, if you want them. We are implementing a community forum and a quarterly blog for all in Real Plus. This is being done for three reasons. First to develop a community around healing from any Mental health condition and thriving. I think it’s important as we grow together to achieve Mental Health for Real. Secondly, to get direct input through a community forum and suggestion box that will make the show what the listener wants. And lastly to grow the show so we can increase our reach and implement better quality sound with just a little revenue. This will put us in a position to reach more people and book any guest we feel will help us. To do this I am implementing a Premium Package as part of Real Plus. The premium Package will have everything in basic Real Plus but so much more as described below and detailed in this short episode. Real Plus Premium – Subscribed Access Unlock exclusive content, including early access to episodes Annotated Transcripts – not just what we said, but why it mattered. The “Unpolished” Feed – outtakes, false starts, and the moments we almost cut. Produced twice a year Monthly Dispatch – one email, no marketing, just what we’re building, breaking, and rethinking Verified/co-authored Badge – not for clout, just a quiet nod that you are co-authors Suggestion Box (with Teeth) – you pitch it, we respond. If it’s good, we build it. If it’s off, we say why Yearly Dividend – 5% of total earnings redistributed equally to listeners at year-end - So, this gives the advantage to the early subscribers, since the price will never go up no matter what extras we put in. So, if we raise the price over the years your actual value back rises from 5 percent and there is no cap. If the show some how goes viral, you will make more money than you pay for subscription. Potentially much more. . Refunds for dividends -If canceled mid-year, refund begins at end of the month -Refund is prorated based on the yearly rate - Any payment method is eligible -Credit card, Zelle, or other agreed-upon method Cancel Button will be clear and on the first screen. 2 click cancel I am thinking about a co-host for the 2026 season. I will keep you informed. Also, you may have noticed the logo has been changed in Facebook, Instagram and X. The Logo will officially change everywhere on November 1, 2025. Hopefully along with Real Plus. Which changes everything. The implementation of Real plus depends on you. I will have a post on Facebook, Instagram, and X. Please indicate your interest in the program tiers. Please "Like" the post, if you’re in for implementing Real Plus on November 1, Please "Love" or other than like the post, if you’re in for the Premium Package in Real Plus. Or send an email to [email protected] with the subject "Like" or "Love" and please indicate if you want to receive status updates of the project if we have 5 likes for Real Plus and/or 5 "Loves" for the Premium Package one or both It will be implemented For November 1 sign up and benefits. So the future of OTR is up to you. If we don't implement; I may offer the program at a later date. Warrior Mom Rising- Story of Recovery from PTSD using EMDR
2025/08/15
Meet Jenn Robb—author, coach, wife, and fiercely devoted mom. With over 20 years in acute care medicine and certifications in functional and integrative approaches, Jenn brings both clinical expertise and lived compassion to her work. She’s the author of Warrior Mom Rising, a raw and powerful account of her journey through her teen daughter’s severe anxiety, depression, and trauma. Through that fire, Jenn discovered that true healing often doesn’t come from a prescription—it comes from purpose, from community, and from knowing you’re not alone. She wears many hats, but at the center of it all is one driving force: helping women—especially mothers—find strength, hope, and purpose in their hardest seasons. Even though she directs her message to Mothers, this episode talks about different procedures and steps that can be taken by fathers, spouses or any loved one or even just the individual themselves to fight Anxiety and depression, especially PTSD after a traumatic episode. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is one of the techniques discussed in this episode. We also talk about a service dog that can calm and center a person with anxiety and depression. There were times Jenn felt like she was drowning—unsure of how to help her, daughter, what to do next, or even how to take care of herself. She knows the ache of watching her child suffer and feeling completely helpless. and knows the guilt, the self-doubt, and the deep longing for breakthrough. Warrior Mom Rising is a lifeline for moms carrying the invisible weight of their child’s mental health struggles. Through fierce advocacy, faith-filled wisdom, and raw honesty, this guide empowers moms to rise from exhaustion and guilt into strength, purpose, and hope. Whether you’re navigating schools, doctor visits, or late-night worry spirals, Jenn Robb offers the tools, encouragement, and battle-tested strategies you need to advocate fiercely, overcome burnout, and rediscover your own strength. Hi, I'm God - Recovery and Thriving with Schizophrenia
2025/07/31
Dale Walsh has faced—and transcended—one of the most formidable mental health challenges: schizophrenia. His journey from the depths of psychosis to a place of clarity and purpose informs every aspect of his work. Through his unique "inside-out" perspective, Dale coaches families of individuals living with serious mental illness, helping them bridge emotional gaps and navigate their daily challenges with empathy and strength. Dale creates a nonjudgmental space for those often referred to as the “forgotten victims of mental illness”—the family members, caregivers, and loved ones who struggle to maintain connection. His method, called LIVELOVE (Learn–Integrate–Validate–Explore / Listen–Observe–Value–Express), offers not only a roadmap for meaningful dialogue, but a chance to reclaim personal identity in the midst of caregiving fatigue. This conversation honors both the pain and resilience that shape mental health narratives—and shines a light on the power of coaching, compassion, and lived experience.
