text us if... This month we are thrilled to talk with Dr. Pascale Chery! Pascale Chery is a first-generation Haitian-American who grew up  in New York straddling the two cultures.   Her early years were shaped mostly by the art of music.  She played piano, saxophone, and composed tunes.  She had every intention of becoming a musician however her parents talked her out of it for fear of not being able to support herself.  She then took the decision to become a dentist.  Dr. Chery attended and completed undergraduate and graduate studies at Rutgers University and went into residency and practice thereafter. She married shortly after dental school and bore two children.  Unfortunately, the marriage didn't survive and she became a single parent early in my career.  Raising  two children away from family posed many challenges. However, it gave her insight on the trials and tribulations that many children face growing up in school today.  Today she is writing as part of my creative expression to help children build-self confidence and self-love. Originally born in Brooklyn NY, & raised In South Florida, Cal comes from a Jamaican family. He grew up during the start and rise of Hip Hop & was an emcees and rhymer in high school and college. text us if... In this month's Spotlight episode, we chat with Michela, who shares with us what it is like to be the mother of child with a rare disease. Most of us have probably never even heard of Hirschsprung's (HIRSH-sproongz) disease, which is a condition that affects the large intestine (colon) and causes problems with passing stool. The condition is present at birth (congenital) as a result of missing nerve cells in the muscles of the baby's colon. Without these nerve cells stimulating gut muscles to help move contents through the colon, the contents can back up and cause blockages in the bowel, and can be fatal if undetected. Michela's story is so powerful and inspiring and we are very grateful that she took the time to share with us all.
