Numb Hands and Tingling Feet | Felt at the End of the Line
2026/09/17
DESCRIPTION
A hand that goes dead at three in the morning. A foot that feels distant at the end of a long day. By the time you reach an appointment the symptom has gone and you’re told nothing is wrong.
Kelowna chiropractor Dr. Cary Yurkiw explains what numbness and tingling actually are: a nerve sending an inaccurate report, not proof that something has broken. Felt at the end of the line. Caused somewhere along it.
Interference, not damage, and interference is the part that can change.
Nobody is diagnosed in this episode. That is not what it’s for. You’ll leave with an explanation that holds together and a couple of things to do this week.

The Body You're Taking to College: A Chiropractor Dad's Honest Guide
2026/09/14
When your kid leaves for college, nobody hands them a manual for their own body — how to sleep, eat, and move when there's no one making them. By about week six, a lot of students crash: exhausted, aching, headaches, and they don't know why.
I'm Dr. Cary Yurkiw — a chiropractor for 31 years, a clinic owner for 25 of them, and a dad who just sent his own kids off to school. In this episode I share the exact things we focused on to give our own children a healthy start, and why the usual advice ("eat well, sleep more, exercise") doesn't work when you're standing in a dorm room at 11pm with a mini-fridge.
What you'll learn:
Why students crash around week six — and how to see it comingSleep is the domino: steady wake-up time + morning lightEat by building blocks, not rules: protein, carb, and something with colorMove often, not hard: frequency beats intensity, and accountability winsThe one small habit that separates students who thriveTIMESTAMPS

What Actually Causes Numb Hands and Tingling Feet?
2026/09/01
Numbness and tingling in the hands and feet is one of the most common things
I get asked about, and one of the least explained.
In this episode I go through how the nervous system actually produces those
symptoms — why a pinched nerve in the neck shows up in your fingers, why one
in the low back shows up in your toes, and why that pins-and-needles feeling
is the same thing that happens when your leg falls asleep.
I've also just published the booklet this comes from, and there's a free
webinar coming up.

Numb Hands & Tingling Feet Q&A — Diagnosis Tips, Common Mistakes & Real Treatment
2026/08/25
Is your numbness coming from where you think it is? Probably not.
A Q&A episode tackling the most common questions about numbness in hands, tingling feet, and peripheral nerve pain—and why diagnosing the real cause matters so much more than temporary relief.
In this episode:
Red flags that tell you numbness is seriousWhy a helpful wrist brace doesn't always mean you have carpal tunnelThe surprising reason your numb feet might be coming from your backHow to distinguish mechanical vs. systemic numbnessThe patient case that changed everything: bilateral leg numbness, disc issues, and one targeted approach that made a real differenceWhy waiting is the biggest mistake—and how easy it is to get answersWith 30 years of clinical experience, I'm pulling back the curtain on how to actually diagnose and treat nerve compression, not just manage the symptom.

Numb Hands and Tingling Feet: What's Causing It
2026/08/20
Numb hands. Tingling feet. Symptoms that come and go — until they don't.
Gabby sits down with Dr. Cary Yurkiw to ask why numbness gets ignored for years, what a pinched nerve is actually doing to nerve flow, and why a numb hand isn't always carpal tunnel.
In this episode:
- What numbness actually is, and where it starts in the spine
- Why symptoms come and go before they settle in for good
- Double crush syndrome — when two pinched nerves cause one symptom
- Why hands and feet aren't quite the same conversation
- Posture, phones, and repetitive strain at work
- How it gets properly diagnosed, and what treatment involves

In this conversation: what he wants every college-age student and their parents to sort out before the semester gets away from them — arriving early enough to build a routine before classes start, groceries and what to actually eat, protein and macronutrients, sleep and respecting your own circadian rhythm, exercise, and setting up a desk that won't wreck your neck and back.
Also covered: why a live webinar instead of just a book (you can ask questions in the chat — we'll be streaming on YouTube and TikTok), why the date lands two to three weeks into the school year, and the one thing that matters more than all the rest.

Day 14 of the 100-Day Challenge: Precision, Adjustments, and Real-Life Execution
2026/01/22
In this episode, I review Day 14 of the 100-Day Challenge and walk you through a full, honest breakdown of how the day actually played out—from meals and workouts to macros, steps, and mindset.
I cover:
A steak-and-chicken skillet meal and where hidden carbs come from
How fats (especially olive oil and cream) quietly drive calories
Smoothie upgrades, protein substitutions, and what happens when a favorite ingredient runs out
Why halving indulgent foods and doubling beneficial ones works
Net carbs vs total carbs—and why that distinction matters
Managing family dinners without breaking momentum
Steps, walking strategy, and post-dinner movement
Strength training, recovery, yoga, and meditation
What I’m tracking daily: net carbs, protein, and fiber
This episode is about awareness and course correction, not perfection. You’ll hear how small tweaks compound into real progress—and how to think through your own substitutions if you don’t eat the same foods I do.
I also explain how this daily tracking may turn into a future book and how these principles connect to my upcoming webinar on fat loss, strength, and energy.
If you want a realistic blueprint for sustainable fat loss—this is a strong checkpoint episode.
Day 4 Recap (Day 5 Check-In): Early Momentum, Smart Fasting, and Real Fat Loss Progress
2026/01/17
In this episode, I recap Day 4 of the 100-Day Challenge and check in on progress now that I’m five days in. I stepped on the scale at 217.8 lbs, down about 3 pounds, and I break down exactly why that’s happening.
You’ll hear about:
Intermittent fasting decisions and whether electrolytes break a fast
Comparing Liquid IV vs LMNT while fasting
Elliptical vs treadmill cardio and how it translates to steps and fat oxidation
Early-day training while fasted
Real food choices: cottage cheese, berries, egg whites, bacon, wagyu burgers, smoothies, salads, and snacks
How fats quietly drive calories up
Managing net carbs, protein, and fiber in real time
Adjustments made during the day to stay on track
Why consistency + awareness is beating willpower
This episode shows how structure removes guesswork. Instead of guessing what to eat or when to train, I’m following clear principles—and the scale is responding.
If you’re early in a fat-loss phase, experimenting with intermittent fasting, or trying to lose weight without sacrificing muscle, this is a practical, real-world walkthrough.
Day 2 of the 100-Day Challenge: Real Numbers, Real Decisions
2026/01/15
In this episode, I walk you through Day 2 of my 100-Day Challenge—the wins, the misses, and the exact numbers behind them.
I break down:
Steps (what I hit, what I missed, and why it matters)
Intermittent fasting timing and how it felt pushing too long
Exact food choices, portions, and net carbs
Protein intake and muscle protection
How family dinners fit into a fat-loss plan (without blowing it)
Calorie burn vs intake and why this approach works long-term
Early signs of “keto-flu” and how hydration and fiber helped
This episode is about execution over perfection. You’ll hear how to stay flexible, protect results in real life, and make smart adjustments without quitting.
If you’re doing fat loss, intermittent fasting, or just trying to stay consistent in a busy life—this one’s for you.
Follow the podcast for daily updates from the 100-Day Challenge and practical strategies you can apply immediately.
My Simple Morning Meditation & Yoga Routine (How I Start My Day Calm, Focused, and Pain-Free)
2025/12/18
I start my mornings with a simple meditation and yoga routine to calm my mind, improve flexibility, and support long-term spinal and nervous system health.
I set up a quiet space, get comfortable, focus on my breathing, and let my body fully relax. This daily practice helps reduce stress, improve focus, and build a stronger mind-body connection before the workday begins.
As a chiropractor, I see firsthand how stress, tension, and poor movement patterns affect the body. Meditation and yoga are powerful tools that complement chiropractic care and help people feel and function better.
If you’re looking to reduce stress, improve flexibility, or support your overall health, this routine is a great place to start.

Simple swaps that save calories daily
How to enjoy treats without losing momentum
This is the same philosophy behind my 32-pound weight loss in 100 days, and it’s what I teach clients who want real, sustainable results.

2025/12/15
Confused about carbohydrates? In this short video, Dr. Cary explains the simple difference between good carbs and bad carbs—and why this matters for energy, digestion, and weight loss.Good carbs come from vegetables and fiber-rich foods that digest slowly and support metabolism.
