Over the Cliff or Onto the Rocks — The Fool | Astrology Ride of the Day
2026/10/01
A red feather in his cap, not a worry on his face, chin in the air, walking straight to the edge of a cliff. Paul, Rafiki and Guardian describe the Fool card piece by piece: the white dog at his feet, the snowcapped mountains, the bright yellow sky, a bundle of everything he owns slung over his shoulder, and a single white rose between two fingers. Does a different deck change the meaning? Rafiki has read tarot by the pictures for years, and going back to the book is showing him what he missed. Guardian reads through spirit and intuition, and finds that astrology adds a layer of facts on top. Then the edge of the cliff. The Fool's next step can send him soaring or drop him on the rocks below, and naivete decides which. Paul brings in the Peter Pan mentality, the boy who refused to grow up and take responsibility. Rafiki says Peter Pan was the Fool to the fullest: spontaneous, careless and reckless. The goal is to be reckless for good, not for destruction. Guardian reads the rose as chasing what's beautiful instead of what's logical, believing in an impossible goal and taking the risk anyway. The shadow keywords round it out: boastful, careless, arrogant, swagger, flamboyance, and the person who takes pride in the mirror. Know thyself. Balance your energy. Takeaways The Fool's imagery tells the whole story: a carefree wanderer with everything he owns on his back, a white rose in his hand, and a cliff one step ahead.Tarot reads in layers. The pictures give you the basics, the book adds depth, spirit adds intuition, and astrology adds facts. The Fool's next step can send you flying or falling, and naivete decides which. The Peter Pan mentality, refusing to grow up and take responsibility, is the Fool's shadow. The white rose is chasing beauty over logic and believing in the impossible goal. Is It Foolish to Go First? — The Fool | Astrology Ride of the Day
2026/10/01
Card zero. The first card in the deck is named the Fool. So is it foolish to be the first one to volunteer? Paul, Rafiki and Guardian open the Fool with a question about going first. Nobody wants the first generation of a new product before the kinks get worked out, and nobody wants to be the first to test the bungee cord. Rafiki lays out the keywords. Upright, the Fool is new beginnings, innocence, a clear conscience, the wanderer, the spontaneous leap. Reversed, it turns to vanity, naivete, being taken advantage of, and recklessness. Then Paul the astrologer connects the deck to the sky. The Fool carries Uranus energy, and the very next card, the Magician, carries Mercury. Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury, so the deck opens with the higher octave and follows with the lower. Guardian sums it up: do first, think later. Uranus shocks, and Mercury makes you think and talk about it. Rafiki's reminder: you can't have astrology without tarot. Know thyself. Balance your energy. Takeaways The Fool is card zero, ruled by air and Uranus. It's the leap before the plan.Being first can be foolish or brave. Waiting for the second generation is wisdom, but somebody has to test the bungee cord.Upright, the Fool is new beginnings, innocence and taking a chance. Reversed, it's naivete, vanity, recklessness and being taken advantage of.The deck opens with Uranus (the Fool) and follows with its lower octave, Mercury (the Magician): shock first, then thought. Tarot and astrology tell the same story. The Third Pillar — The High Priestess | Astrology Ride of the Day
2026/10/01
The pillars are everywhere once you start looking. Rafiki digs into the two pillars of the High Priestess, Boaz and Jachin, and finds the trail leading straight to the Freemasons. Mental fills in the missing piece: there are three pillars, not two. Boaz stands for strength, Jachin for beauty, and the third for wisdom. Paul asks whether the High Priestess herself is that third pillar, sitting between the two. The black and white columns lead to the Masonic checkerboard floor, a picture of duality: day and night, left brain and right brain, the beauty of the light and the strength that comes out of the dark. Then the scroll in her lap. If the Torah is the body of law that governs both the spiritual and the physical universe, which law is it? Karma, the law of attraction, reflection, harmony, and the 42 laws of Maat, all of which come down to balance. From Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva to Isis, Osiris and Horus to mind, body and soul, there's a trinity in everything. Mental closes it out: it's the same story told over and over, and it was always about you. Know thyself. Balance your energy. Takeaways The High Priestess sits between Boaz (strength, the black pillar) and Jachin (beauty, the white pillar). She's the third pillar, wisdom, holding the balance between them.Black and white pillars and the Masonic checkerboard floor point to the same lesson about duality. Light and dark, day and night, left brain and right brain all need each other. The law on her scroll is universal law. Karma, attraction, reflection, harmony and the 42 laws of Maat all teach balance with the cosmos.Trinities show up in every tradition, from Hindu to Christian to Egyptian. The ancient stories were never about distant characters. They were maps of you. You Can't Have One Without the Other — The High Priestess | Astrology Ride of the Day
2026/10/01
Before you can pull knowledge out of the water, you have to master what's inside you. Paul takes it back to the Magician: if you haven't mastered your inner world, the intuition you're picking up will be off. Mental confirms it. Rafiki names the shadow side: ignoring your intuition is the High Priestess reversed, and you have to pass through the reverse to reach the upright. That holds for every card. Then the conversation widens. You can't have the elements without astrology, or astrology without tarot, because every craft corresponds to the others. Mental hands the religious folks a jewel: use that same thinking with the different faiths, instead of arguing about whose God is better. Rafiki says that if people sat down and had real conversations, they'd find more in common than different. Paul brings the proof: the Hindus have a trinity too. Know thyself. Balance your energy. Takeaways Intuition is only as clear as the vessel it moves through. Master your inner world first, or the signals you pick up will be off.Ignoring your intuition is the High Priestess reversed. You have to go through the reverse to earn the upright, and that's true of every card in the deck. The elements, astrology, tarot and every other craft speak to each other. None of them stands complete alone.Different religions tell versions of the same story. The Hindu trinity mirrors the Christian one, and real conversation shows more common ground than conflict. Is Water Intelligence? — The High Priestess | Astrology Ride of the Day
2026/10/01
Memories don't live in the air. They live in the water. Paul, Mental Reset and Rafiki go below the surface of the High Priestess and ask whether water is intelligence. Air and water both carry things, and when they mix you get a hurricane. Intellect is the ability to talk a theory. Intelligence is the ability to apply it. Rafiki reads the card as spirituality, psychic energy and intuition, with Isis as the keeper of hidden wisdom, and the message is that the knowledge is already in you and waiting to be activated. Then Mental turns the card upside down. Schools, the news and the church are keeping the people in the dark, and society is living the High Priestess in reverse: deceit, hypocrisy and untapped potential. Know thyself. Balance your energy. Takeaways Water is where memory, emotion and spirit live. That makes the High Priestess the card of the subconscious, the place your answers are stored.Intellect and intelligence aren't the same thing. Intellect can explain a theory. Intelligence takes that theory and puts it to work. The High Priestess doesn't hand you new knowledge. She reminds you that it's already inside you, and your job is to activate it and bring it to the surface. In reverse, the card describes a society built on secrets. When schools, the news and the church withhold truth, people lose touch with their own intuition and their potential goes untapped. The Dock Party | Astrology Ride of the Day
2026/09/30
There's a crowd waiting on the dock for you — real support, no fakers, glasses already up. But look out at the water. Ships you signed off on too fast, skipping the fine print for a good feeling, are drifting or stuck in the wrong port. Underneath that is a loose chain — a quick win, a shortcut that pays now and bills later. And underneath that, at the very bottom, is a well that's gone dry, not because it ran out, but because you stopped drawing from it. The road back starts there: fill the well first, then take off the chain, then read every line of every deal, twice. Know thyself. Balance your energy. Takeaways Support was never the problem — the dock is real, the people are genuine, and the harvest is ready. The real question isn't "why can't I stop" a compulsive shortcut — it's "what does this actually give me," since naming what it pays is the only way to stop fighting just the symptom. The well represents hope, rest, and belief in the work — it hasn't run dry, it's simply been neglected, and the fix starts there, not with the ships or the chain. The path back runs in a specific order: refill the well first, then release the shortcut, then finally read every deal carefully — building proof you can trust yourself rather than rushing the future into existence. What Astrology Do You Practice? — A Conversation on Method and Chart Ruler | Astrology Ride of the Day
2026/09/30
A conversation about astrological method and how a person's own chart shapes their approach to the craft. One astrologer describes blending traditional astrology with fixed stars and the occasional asteroid, favoring Placidus with intercepted houses over whole sign, and leaning heavily on progressions over solar returns or solar arcs. Her chart adds a real layer to the discussion — Sagittarius rising sits almost exactly between her Saturn and Uranus, both near the Ascendant, which sparks the question of whether an Aquarius Sun leans more Saturn-ruled or Uranus-ruled depending on their placements. Know thyself. Balance your energy. Takeaways Different astrologers genuinely vary in method — blending traditional techniques with fixed stars and asteroids, using Placidus with intercepted houses rather than whole sign, and favoring progressions over solar returns or solar arcs.A chart ruler question got interesting fast: an Aquarius Sun can lean more toward Saturn's traditional rulership or Uranus's modern rulership depending on which planet is more strongly placed in the individual chart.A real chart example: Sagittarius rising at 13°, with Saturn at 9° and Uranus at 16° — the Ascendant sitting almost exactly between the two rulers of Aquarius, making the Saturn-versus-Uranus question genuinely close. Looking Up — How the Wanderers Became the Zodiac | Astrology Ride of the Day
2026/09/30
Astrology starts with looking down at symbols in a circle, but the whole system began with people looking up. Observers noticed five stars moving through the sky while everything else stayed fixed — these five, plus the Sun and Moon, became the seven wanderers, tracked as far back as 2100 BCE in Mesopotamia. Every wanderer moves along the same ecliptic plane, and the fixed stars behind them, connected into shapes like a ram, a lion, a scorpion, and scales, became what we now call the zodiac signs. From there, tracking when the Sun moved through each shape turned into humanity's first calendar, marking the start, middle, and turn of every season. Know thyself. Balance your energy. Takeaways The seven wanderers — the five visible planets plus the Sun and Moon — were identified because they moved through the sky while everything else stayed fixed, with tracking traced back to at least 2100 BCE in Mesopotamia. All seven wanderers travel along the same path, the ecliptic plane, moving at different speeds but staying within the same belt as they circle. The zodiac signs originated as constellations of fixed stars used as a backdrop to track the wanderers' movement, eventually giving rise to the first calendars based on which sign the Sun occupied. The cardinal signs (Capricorn, Cancer, Aries, Libra) marked the beginning of each season, the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) marked the middle, and the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) marked the seasonal transition.
