Send a text In this episode of the Colorado High School Basketball Podcast, host Matt Langley interviews former high school and college basketball player Caydrick Bloomquist to explore how high school basketball develops mental toughness, resilience, and elite performance skills that transfer to life after sports. Caydrick grew up in Emporia, Kansas in a basketball culture built on the xitZone mentality—a philosophy focused on pushing beyond comfort zones, performing under fatigue, and building discipline through accountability. That mindset helped shape his journey from high school basketball to college athletics, becoming an All-American pole vaulter, and later working in sports performance, mindset training, and human performance consulting with Olympians, tactical athletes, and military populations. This episode discusses: How high school basketball builds mental toughness and resilienceThe XitZone philosophy and its seven core principlesWhy learning to perform while fatigued creates a competitive edgeHow mindset training improves confidence, focus, and consistencyLessons from basketball that apply to school, careers, and life challengesWhy today’s athletes must train their mindset as much as their physical skillsPerfect for high school basketball players, coaches, parents, trainers, and educators, this episode explains why basketball is one of the best tools for developing work ethic, leadership, emotional control, and long-term success—both on and off the court. Send a text Host Matt Langley welcomes Andrew Farrell and Micah Roberson, co-founders of Locker Room (L-K-R-M), a new sports technology company aimed at helping high school coaches manage their basketball programs more efficiently. The conversation begins with light-hearted banter about college traditions and leads into a deeper discussion about how lessons from playing sports translate into life skills and professional success. Andrew shares his background — growing up near a high school where his mom worked as an administrator — and how seeing coaches stay late inspired him to build a platform that saves them time. Despite majoring in physics and politics, he turned down a lucrative job offer to pursue Locker Room full-time, driven by the belief that technology can simplify coaching and program management. Micah reflects on his basketball journey in Alabama, realizing early that his playing career wouldn’t extend to college but that the teamwork, discipline, and perseverance he learned through the sport carried over into his medical school pursuits and his work with Locker Room. Together, they describe Locker Room as a coach-first platform designed to eliminate paperwork, streamline scheduling, manage rosters, track budgets, and even integrate with platforms like MaxPreps. Their goal is to save coaches 20 hours a week and help them focus more on their players and program culture. Langley praises the platform’s intuitive design and relates it to his own experience as a high school coach who once had to manually call newspapers to report scores. The episode emphasizes how technology, teamwork, and passion for the game can intersect to make high school sports more effective and enjoyable for everyone involved. 🏀 Key Takeaways Locker Room (LKRM) helps coaches cut administrative time by up to 40%.Built from feedback from hundreds of coaches nationwide.Focused on organization, culture, and long-term program sustainability.Founders emphasize life lessons from sports — goal setting, resilience, and teamwork. The episode captures how innovation in high school athletics can empower coaches and players alike.Support the show for more follow @bball_co on twitter or visit BasketballColorado.com
