The Unrighteous Will Not Inherit the Kingdom: A Scripture Hike through 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
2026/10/26
In this sobering episode, Mark and Cindy examine Paul’s unmistakable warning in 1 Corinthians 6:9–10: Do not be deceived. Grace is not permission to continue in unrepentant sin, and our behavior is not unrelated to our hope of inheriting the kingdom of God. From sexual immorality and idolatry to greed, drunkenness, verbal abuse, theft, and swindling, Paul confronts the many ways people can be deceived into calling darkness light. Join us as we consider why God takes sin seriously—and why we should never let culture, popularity, intellect, or even those closest to us persuade us otherwise.
Wisdom for Settling Disputes: A Scripture Hike through 1 Corinthians 6:1-8
2026/10/19
Mark and Cindy explore God’s inspired wisdom through Paul as he addresses Christians who allow disagreements to become public courtroom battles.
What does the world see when God’s children accuse one another? Even winning a lawsuit can be a defeat when the reputation of Christ and His church is at stake.
Often the more Christlike response is to surrender our rights and ask, “Why not rather be wronged?” Ultimately, the question isn’t simply “Who is right?” but “What response best represents Christ?”
Remove The Wicked: A Scripture Hike through 1 Corinthians 5:6-13
2026/10/12
Mark and Cindy continue exploring Paul’s powerful lesson on the contagious nature of sin in 1 Corinthians 5:6–13.
Like leaven spreading through dough, tolerated sin can permeate an entire congregation. Because Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed for us, Paul calls Christians to remove the “old leaven” and celebrate with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. This means taking sin seriously within the church while remembering that our mission is not to judge the world, but to help one another remain faithful.
Loving correction, honest accountability, and separation from unrepentant sin are not acts of cruelty—they are intended to protect the church and help souls recognize their need for repentance --- a principle that likewise flows into our other relationships in life.
Loving Enough to Correct: A Scripture Hike through 1 Corinthians 5:1-5
2026/10/05
Mark and Cindy explore Paul’s sobering response to a shocking case of immorality in 1 Corinthians 5:1–5. Rather than ignoring sin, the church was called to mourn, confront it, and remove the unrepentant sinner from their midst. Paul’s words remind us that true love does not minimize the destructive nature of sin—it exposes it so that a soul might recognize its danger and turn back to God. Even the severe discipline Paul commanded had a merciful purpose: “so that his spirit may be saved.” When eternity is at stake, loving someone sometimes means having the courage to tell them the truth, so this podcast concludes with the story of a brave soul who did just that!
Admonished in Love: A Scripture Hike of 1 Corinthians 4:14-21
2026/09/28
Mark and Cindy continue their deep exploration of 1 Corinthians 4, discussing how Paul speaks to the Corinthians not to shame them, but to admonish them as beloved children—revealing that genuine spiritual leadership is rooted not merely in knowing truth, but in caring enough to help others live it. They note from the text the dangerous relationship between arrogance and being unteachable, recognizing that impressive words mean very little if our lives lack the power of genuine transformation, and that the kingdom of God is not built on talk, reputation, or empty claims—it is demonstrated through lives surrendered to God’s power.
Ultimately, Paul places the choice before the Corinthians --- a choice we too face every day: will we respond to loving correction with humility, or will our stubbornness require something much harder?
Learn Not to Exceed What is Written: A Scripture Hike through 1 Corinthians 4:6-13
2026/09/22
In this episode, Mark and Cindy discuss how everything we possess has been received, so that there is no room for arrogance, social ranking, or spiritual celebrity worship in the family of God.
The Corinthians saw themselves as spiritually rich, powerful, and self-sufficient, while the apostles were willing to be viewed as fools, weak, dishonored, and even as the “scum of the world” for the sake of Christ. Yet their hardships reveal something beautiful: Christian strength is not measured by comfort, status, applause, or worldly success. It is demonstrated when we can be hungry and still content, mistreated and still work, reviled and still bless, persecuted and still endure, and slandered and still seek reconciliation.
Following Christ means being willing to surrender the pursuit of human honor in exchange for faithfulness to God. In a world obsessed with recognition and reputation, this episode asks a sobering question: Are we seeking to be impressive in the eyes of men—or faithful in the eyes of God?
The Lord Will Disclose the Motives of Hearts: A Scripture Hike through 1 Corinthians 4:1-5
2026/09/14
In this episode, Mark and Cindy explore what it truly means to be servants of Christ and trustworthy stewards of the mysteries of God within Paul's reminder to us that our ultimate responsibility is not to win the approval of other people, build a following, or collect human praise, but to faithfully handle the Word of God and live for the approval of the only One who can see the heart perfectly.
We examine the danger of celebrity culture and the temptation to measure ourselves—or others—by human opinions, while recognizing that even our own self-assessment can be clouded by ignorance, bias, or self-love.
Although Scripture calls us to recognize the fruit of people’s lives and lovingly warn those who are straying, Paul cautions us against presuming to know what only God can know: the hidden things and the motives of the heart.
One day, the Lord will bring everything into the light and render the only judgment that is completely righteous. Until then, our calling is simple but demanding: be faithful, be trustworthy, resist the craving for human applause, and live for the praise that comes from God.
You Belong to Christ: A Scripture Hike through 1 Corinthians 3:16-23
2026/09/07
What does it mean to be God's holy temple, and how should that transform the way we live? In this study of 1 Corinthians 3:16–23, Mark and Cindy explore the astonishing privilege of God's presence dwelling among His people, the seriousness of preserving His holy temple, and the emptiness of worldly wisdom compared to the wisdom of God. Discover why self-deception is so dangerous, why boasting in human leaders robs God of His glory, and what it means to belong completely to Christ. You'll be encouraged to pursue holiness, reject the world's counterfeit wisdom, and rejoice in the incredible inheritance that is ours as children of God. This practical, faith-building study reminds us that because we belong to Christ, every aspect of life—and even death itself—is ultimately used by God for our eternal good!
Each Person Must Be Careful How He Builds: A Scripture Hike through 1 Corinthians 3:10-15
2026/08/31
In this episode, Mark and Cindy explore Paul’s powerful picture of building the Kingdom of God on the only foundation strong enough to endure: Jesus Christ and His inspired words communicated through the Holy Spirit within the sacred writings of the New Testament. When the fires of testing come, everything false will be exposed and consumed, leaving only what is rooted in God's truth. Thus, this powerful section of Scripture is a call to use only the flawless word of God rather than the fragile materials of human wisdom and worldly thinking to grow the church of Christ.
We are God’s Fellow Workers: A Scripture Hike through 1 Corinthians 3:1-9
2026/08/24
Mark and Cindy explore 1 Corinthians 3:1–9, where Paul teaches the church in Corinth that spiritual maturity is revealed not merely by what we know, but by what we do with what we know. The Corinthians were still behaving like “men of flesh”—marked by jealousy, strife, division, and the tendency to elevate human teachers rather than Christ. Paul reminds them that spiritual growth requires humble, open-hearted listening, moral courage, and a willingness to apply the deeper truths of God’s Word. Whether Paul plants or Apollos waters, neither servant is worthy of being idolized, because God is the One who causes the growth. His servants have different roles, but one purpose: to work alongside Him in the most meaningful endeavor imaginable. We are God’s field. We are God’s building. And while faithful labor will be rewarded, all glory belongs to the God who gives the increase.
The One Who is Spiritual Discerns All Things: A Scripture Hike through 1 Corinthians 2:9-16
2026/08/17
What has God freely given to those who love Him, and how can we know His will with certainty? In this study of 1 Corinthians 2:9–16, Mark and Cindy explore the breathtaking spiritual blessings God has prepared for His people and the indispensable role of the Holy Spirit in revealing His mind through the inspired Scriptures. Discover why human wisdom can never rival God's perfect wisdom, why every word of Scripture matters, what it truly means to have "the mind of Christ," and why spiritual truth can only be rightly understood through God's revelation. This encouraging discussion will deepen your appreciation for the inspiration of Scripture, strengthen your confidence in God's revealed Word, and remind you of the immeasurable riches He has graciously given to all who love and obey Him.
A Faith that Rests on The Power of God: A Scripture Hike through 1 Corinthians 2:1-8
2026/08/10
Mark and Cindy explore Paul's powerful reminder in 1 Corinthians 2 that the gospel's effectiveness has never depended on eloquence, intellectual brilliance, or persuasive human arguments.
This episode is an encouraging call to proclaim God's wisdom with confidence, trusting that transformed lives come not through impressive speakers but through the life-changing power of the gospel.
When Paul came to Corinth, he intentionally resolved to center every message on Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Though he ministered with personal weakness, fear, and trembling, he relied completely on the Spirit's power rather than his own abilities so that people's faith would rest on God's power instead of human wisdom.
And lastly, Mark and Cindy discuss the profound contrast between the fleeting wisdom of this world and the eternal wisdom of God—a mystery planned before the foundation of the world yet overlooked by earthly rulers, who unknowingly crucified the very Lord of glory.
Consider Your Calling: A Scripture Hike through 1 Corinthians 1:26-31
2026/08/03
In this episode, Mark and Cindy explore Paul's powerful reminder in 1 Corinthians 1:26–31 that God has never measured greatness by the world's standards. While society celebrates education, influence, wealth, and status, God delights in using the humble, the overlooked, and the seemingly insignificant to accomplish His greatest purposes. We'll examine why the gospel has so often flourished among ordinary people, how Christ Himself became our wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption, and why every accomplishment we possess is entirely the result of the opportunities and other things God has granted us. Join us as we discover why the cross overturns the world's values, silences human pride, and teaches us that the only boast worthy of our lips is this: that we know the Lord.
God Makes Foolish the Wisdom of the World: A Scripture Hike through 1 Corinthians 1:20-25
2026/07/28
In this episode, Mark and Cindy explore 1 Corinthians 1:20–25, where Paul exposes the bankruptcy of human wisdom when it stands in opposition to God. Why has the world's greatest intellectual brilliance failed to solve humanity's deepest problems or bring people to God? Why did both the Jews and the Greeks reject Christ for opposite reasons, and why does the message of the cross still appear foolish to many today?
Together we'll examine how God turns the world's standards upside down, revealing that what appears to be weakness is His greatest strength and what seems like foolishness is perfect wisdom.
Most importantly, we'll see why Christ crucified is the power of God and the wisdom of God for everyone who believes, offering the only message that can truly transform lives and provide eternal hope!
God's Call for Unity: A Scripture Hike through 1 Corinthians 1:10-19
2026/06/18
In this episode, Mark and Cindy continue their verse-by-verse study of 1 Corinthians 1:10–19, where Paul confronts the divisions that had arisen among believers in Corinth. They examine God's call for unity, the danger of elevating human leaders above Christ, the purpose of baptism and gospel preaching, and the contrast between worldly wisdom and the power of the cross. Through biblical commentary and practical application, this discussion challenges listeners to pursue humility, reject factionalism, and place their confidence not in human eloquence or philosophy, but in the saving message of Jesus Christ crucified.
