Description

Wow, a podcast for the every day writer? Yes! Here we have conversations and talk about what makes us tick as writers and what scares the heck out of us. Come join the Legion of Writers hosts L.E. Perez and Gladys Perez as we check out some writing tips, tricks and strategies while tackling some of the obstacles that face us all, like Imposter Syndrome. Not only will we hear from a varied array of authors and creators about how they make this thing called Writing and Creating, work, we will be doing readings as well. It may be one of our works or someone else's we highlight. (Keep that in mind if you'd like us to highlight your work) Sometimes we'll talk craft, other times we will touch on what being an artist is all about. All times we will have fun. Ep 20: Chatting w/Elicia Hyder
2021/08/24
Had the pleasure of meeting Soul Summoner Series author Elicia Hyder @ Space Coast Book Lovers Con in June 2021. Join us as we chat about her books, the writing process and the importance of knowing when to say ENOUGH. About Elicia: In the dawning age of scrunchies and “Hammer Pants,” a small-town musician with big-city talent discovered she was expecting her third child, a staggering eleven years after her second. From that moment on, Susie Waldrop referred to her daughter Elicia as “the blessing,” which is Southern-speak for “the accident,” albeit a pleasant one. In true youngest-sibling fashion, Elicia lived up to the birth-order standard by being fun-loving, outgoing, self-centered, and rebellious throughout her formative years. She excelled academically—a feat her sister attributes to her being the only child who was breastfed—but abandoned her studies to live in a tent in the national forest with her dogs: a Rottweiler named Bodhisattva and a pit bull named Sativa. The ensuing months were very hazy. In the late 90’s, during a stint in rehab, Elicia was approached by a prophet who said, “Someday you will write a book.” She was right. Now a firm believer in the prophetic word, Elicia Hyder is a full-time bestselling writer of urban fantasy, romance, and women’s fiction. Her novels have been optioned for TV and film, and are available in print, eBook, and audio all over the world. She lives (in a real house) in middle Tennessee with her husband, five children, and two (sensibly named) dogs. Follow her through her website @ www.eliciahyder.com All of her social media links are there and links to Hydernation and exclusive content. Ep 19: Writing, Reading & Edits w/CL Roman
2021/08/24
CL (Cheri) and I talk a bit about everything writing related with some wonderful tips about editing and stepping away from your manuscript. Crutch words? Yes. Adverbs? And much more. Cheri Roman writes fantasy and sci-fi with a paranormal edge. Cheri loves writing and thrives on the constant pursuit of chocolate. She lives happily with her ever-patient husband in the not-so-wilds of North Florida. The couple is kept entertained by their pets: Jack E. Boy the super-Chihuahua, and Pye the invisible rocket cat. Ep 17: A bit of Smexy w/Indie Author Gina Ferguson
2021/08/19
Got to speak with Indie Author Gina Ferguson about erotica writing and indie publishing. In her words: I'm a mother of two and a contemporary romance author. I love to write a romance with passion, drama, a little mystery and a lot of heat. My greatest achievement in writing would be to have one of my books become a movie on the big screen or T.V. I've been inspired by many authors stories but I believe mine are unique, each one derived by my own imagination. Episode 16: No Imposters here w/Drew Myers
2021/07/27
Had the pleasure of interviewing Drew Myers soon to be releasing his Tacos & Chocolate Diet. http://ow.ly/8X2950FwJ1d Drew is an enlivener, radio host, speaker, consultant and mentor (and self-acclaimed badass), who inspires others to live a bold, adventurous and intentional life. From Drew: When I walked away from my last “real” job, I put a pen to paper and realized that I had the embarrassing distinction of having 11 jobs since graduating from college...11 years ago. That’s right ...11 jobs in 11 years. Awesome! (insert sarcasm) At first, I looked at this “accomplishment” as a monumental failure. I felt like a bona fide loser, and started asking self-defeating questions. The main one: “What the hell is wrong with you?!?!?!?” Then, the smoke cleared and my confidence started to return. I kept my heart open for my next opportunity and/or adventure. Well, it found me. After a lot of discussion and prayer, I have decided to finally embrace the gift that God gave me and inspire others to look at life a little differently. I started a grassroots blog, Defining Audacity, which was designed to push others to live a bold, adventurous and intentional life. I simply wrote about my life – which included learning to be a dad, giving back and trying to attack life with reckless abandon. That blog has turned into a sydincated radio show and YouTube channel.  I’m also a chronic list maker. I currently have a life list that consists of 55 things that I want to accomplish over the next 555 days. I’m using this list as a road map for my #liveonpurpose initiative, which is designed around setting goals and going after them. This powerful platform also revolves around helping others. It’s about living with a grateful heart and putting others before ourselves. I love sharing stories of helping other people cross things off their bucket lists, and inspiring them to “pay it forward” and help someone else.
