9/27 - Discipleship: Into His Likeness | Philippians 2:1-11
2026/09/28
In Philippians 2:1–11, we see that discipleship is more than simply following Jesus—it is a relationship in which Jesus is continually shaping us into His likeness. The goal isn’t to become a better version of ourselves, but to take on the mindset, posture, and heart of Jesus, who humbled Himself and gave His life for others. As we behold Jesus, we are changed by Him, and our lives become increasingly less about ourselves and more about reflecting Him. This transformation happens in relationship with Jesus and with others, as we surrender our self-centeredness and allow God to shape us into His image. Ultimately, we live this way because Jesus first humbled Himself and gave His life for us.
9/20 - Discipleship: Transformed by Him | Colossians 3:1-17
2026/09/21
As disciples of Jesus, we have been transformed by Christ, are continually being renewed into His likeness, and will one day be completely made new when He returns to reign forever. What a gift it is to be made new in Christ by His grace alone. May we live from the rich inheritance and identity we have in Jesus, rather than trading them for the lesser things of this world.
9/13 - Discipleship A Follower of Jesus | Luke 5:1-11
2026/09/14
In Luke 5:1–11, we see that following Jesus is far more than making a one-time decision or simply adding Jesus to our existing lives. A disciple submits to Jesus’ Word, trusting His authority even when His instructions challenge our experience or don’t make sense. A disciple also submits to His call, recognizing our sin and need for His grace as we say yes to Jesus. And ultimately, following Jesus means surrendering the rest of our lives to Him—our work, relationships, resources, plans, and future. We don't just follow Jesus on Sundays; we follow Him every day as He transforms us into His likeness.
9/6 - 1 Samuel 8:1-22 | The King We Need
2026/09/09
8/30 - 1 Samuel 7:3-17 | Repentence and Rescue
2026/08/31
In 1 Samuel 7:3–17, Israel turns back to the Lord, putting away their idols and learning that true repentance produces dependence on God. When the Philistines come against them, Israel doesn’t try to rescue themselves—they cry out to the Lord, and He gives them victory. Samuel sets up a stone of remembrance, declaring, “Thus far the Lord has helped us,” reminding Israel that their rescue belongs to God alone. The story ultimately points us to Jesus, the greater Samuel, who not only stands in the gap for sinners but closes the gap between us and God through His life, death, and resurrection. Our hope isn’t found in our ability to rescue ourselves, but in the God who has already rescued us.
8/23 - 1 Samuel 5:1-7:2 | When God Won't Stay in His Place
2026/08/24
In 1 Samuel 5–7:2, we see that God cannot be contained, controlled, or treated casually. The Philistines recognize God’s power but refuse to surrender their idols, while Israel recognizes God’s presence but forgets His holiness. Both responses reveal the danger of wanting God on our terms rather than truly longing for God Himself. Our idols often become exposed when obedience to God threatens our comfort, control, security, reputation, or desires. Yet the gospel gives us hope: because Jesus, the Holy One, took our sin and gave us His righteousness, we can confidently approach the holy God and live in joyful surrender to Him.
8/16 - 1 Samuel 4:2-22 | God in a Box
2026/08/17
In 1 Samuel 4, Israel faces a devastating defeat against the Philistines and responds by treating the Ark of the Covenant like a tool they can use to guarantee victory. Rather than submitting to God, they want to use His power and blessing on their own terms, revealing how easily we can turn faith, prayer, Scripture, and even church into tools for our own desires. The chapter also shows the consequences of passive and compromised spiritual leadership through Eli, whose concern for the Ark ultimately reveals where his identity and priorities had been placed. Yet the story’s darkest moment points us toward the hope of Jesus, who is Emmanuel—God with us—and whose Spirit dwells with His people. We are reminded that God is not someone to manipulate, but the God who lovingly calls us to repentance, obedience, and a relationship with Him.
8/9 - 1 Samuel 3:1-4:1 | When God Speaks
2026/08/10
Every day, we hear countless voices telling us what to believe, what to fear, where to find our worth, and how to live. In 1 Samuel 3, Israel finds itself in a season of spiritual darkness, yet God speaks to a young Samuel and calls him to listen. Samuel’s response, “Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening,” shows us what it looks like to approach God with humility, readiness, and obedience. As Samuel learns to recognize and faithfully proclaim God’s voice, God uses him to bring His Word and hope back to His people. This passage challenges us to ask: Which voice are we trusting, and is God’s Word truly shaping the way we live?
8/2 - 1 Samuel 2:12-36 | Scandal at Shiloh
2026/08/03
This week's message from 1 Samuel 2 exposes the scandal at Shiloh, where Eli's sons abused their authority through entitlement, while Eli's passivity allowed their sin to continue unchecked. The passage challenges us to examine our own hearts, asking where we choose comfort, self-preservation, or personal desires over obedience to God. While Samuel stands as a faithful contrast, the sermon reminds us that even he is only a sign pointing to someone greater. Our true hope is found in Jesus Christ—the perfect and eternal High Priest who doesn't take from His people but gives Himself for them, offering forgiveness, and the power to live faithfully for God.
7/26 - 1 Samuel 2:1-11 | When God Becomes Your Song
2026/07/27
Hannah's prayer in 1 Samuel 2 reminds us that true worship is rooted not in our circumstances, but in the unchanging character of God. Whether we are waiting for answered prayers or surrendering the blessings God has given us, our greatest need is not changed circumstances but a clearer vision of who He is. This message explores three truths from Hannah's song: there is no one like our God, no one who acts like our God, and no one more worthy of our trust. Ultimately, Hannah's prayer points beyond her own story to Jesus Christ, the greatest reversal in history, through whom sinners are made saints and the dead are made alive. No matter what season you're in, you can rejoice because there is no one like our God.
7/19 - 1 Samuel 1:1-28 | Doug Johnston
2026/07/20
This week we begin our journey through 1 Samuel by looking at the life of Hannah, a woman whose years of pain and unanswered prayers became the starting point of God's greater plan. In a world where everyone did what was right in their own eyes, Hannah shows us what it looks like to bring our deepest burdens to the Lord in humble dependence and surrender. Her story reminds us that God never wastes our suffering—He often uses it to shape our hearts and accomplish purposes far bigger than we can see. Ultimately, Hannah's life points beyond Samuel to Jesus, the true King who bears our grief, carries our sorrows, and is worthy of our complete trust.
7/12 - Galatians 6:11-18 | From GRACE to GRACE by GRACE
2026/07/13
In Galatians 6:11-18, Paul closes his letter to the Galatians in his own handwriting, driving home a warning against those pushing circumcision just to avoid persecution and to boast in outward religious performance. He contrasts that hollow boasting with his own only boast: the cross of Christ. This message explores the main message of the book of Galatians. The Gospel has freed us, therefore our only boast is in the cross of Christ. Because of Jesus, we are saved and set free to live a transformed life.
7/5 - Galatians 6:1-10 | Lawn Care 101
2026/07/07
In Galatians 6:1–10, Paul teaches that every believer is sowing something—either to the flesh or to the Spirit. This message explores what it means to bear one another's burdens, restore those who have fallen with gentleness, and faithfully continue doing good even when it feels exhausting. Most importantly, we see that Jesus first carried our greatest burden on the cross, empowering us to live lives that reflect His love. Join us as we discover how sowing to the Spirit produces an eternal harvest and transforms both our hearts and our church community.
6/28 - Galatians 5:16-26 | The Good Life...and the One That's Better.
2026/06/29
We all long for the abundant life Jesus promised, yet many of us still find ourselves exhausted, anxious, and striving. In Galatians 5:16–26, Paul teaches that our greatest struggle isn’t simply with sinful behavior—it’s with the competing desires of our hearts. This message explores how lasting transformation doesn’t come through willpower or trying harder, but through abiding in Christ and walking by the Spirit. As the Gospel moves from our minds into our hearts, God begins to reshape our desires and produce the fruit of the Spirit in us. Discover how true freedom is found not in striving, but in resting in the love of God and allowing Him to transform you from the inside out.
6/21 - Galatians 5:1-15 | Freedom in Christ: From Exhaustion to Love
2026/06/23
What if the exhaustion you feel isn’t because you’re failing—but because you’re trying to earn something Christ has already given? In Galatians 5:1–15, Paul reminds us that true freedom is not the ability to do whatever we want, but the freedom to rest in who God says we are. This message explores how performance, comparison, and self-protection leave us empty—and how the gospel invites us into a different way of living. Jesus gave up His freedom to secure ours, freeing us from striving and empowering us to love others from a place of grace. Discover what it means to stand firm in the freedom Christ has already won for you.
