Boring Journal entry 20 August 2026
2026/08/20
We cant always be switched into stage mode....... today as going through the motions of life and work, I had a notion to journal my thoughts, all a bit random but somewhat focus on the why...... why do I work a flexible schedule, why do I do what I do? If we knew more about people ..... the real version of people could this help us find our own unique path? I think it could and this is why many of us are fastinated by social media...... Is it kinda cool to be a fly on the wall for a millamoment ...... or is it a tad creepy?
Data, Dreams & Music

Data, Dreams & Doing Good: Culture, Creativity and Community
What does a loneliness epidemic, a yellow t-shirt, and a Fleetwood Mac algorithm have in common? More than you'd think.
Over 33% of adults globally report feeling lonely and young men are now the most socially isolated generation on record. Meanwhile, the music industry is spending billions buying back catalogue, monetising nostalgia with forensic precision, and leaving something crucial behind: community.
This podcast sits at the intersection of data, culture, and human connection. Each episode explores how creativity, immersive experience, and smart thinking about people can help us build something the streaming era forgot: belonging.
Hosted by a visual artist, criminologist, and music tech thinker who believes the right music, meeting the right people, at the right moment, is still the most powerful force in the world.

Google yourself & get chatGPT to turn it into a podcast

What happens when you google yourself and turn it into a podcast
This podcast is a conversation between AI as they discuss me......interesting. Not as a gimmick, but as a mirror.
The AI responds with reflection, challenge, context, and sometimes uncomfortable clarity. Together, we explore what surfaces when your digital footprint, inner life, and future potential collide.
As I ask ChatGPT questions it turns it into a conversation and then generates a podcast..... is this the modern day 'google me'

The body remembers first
2026/01/19
What is it about a song from the 80s or 90s that can stop us mid-day and quietly change how we feel?
In this episode, Dora Jean Gillespie explores resonance — the subtle, physical lift that music from our formative years still gives us, long after life has grown heavier. Drawing on neuroscience, lived experience, and visual art, she reflects on why sound reaches the body before the mind, and why that matters now more than ever.
This is a conversation about creativity without perfection, archives as living spaces, and how technology — when used respectfully — can protect human intuition rather than replace it. Dora also shares the thinking behind Starilum: using machine learning to handle invisible labour so artists can stay connected to feeling, instinct, and meaning.
This episode isn’t about optimisation or productivity. It’s about belonging.About staying human. And about remembering that you don’t have to disappear to move forward.

The Dopamine Chase - the power of scent in image-making
2024/02/12
Guess what? Today, we're diving into something super cool and a bit geeky, but its popped up in a few conversations today so I thought I might share as it is oh-so-relevant to what we do here at Dora Jean Creation in our imagemaking. Ever wondered why some images just stick with you, or why you can't help but hit that 'share' button? let me introduce you to our brain's very own hype-man: dopamine! yes I know theres a lot of talk about it lately but guess what? It's also got everything to do with how we remember , replay, recall and connect imagery and music and moments and maybe even training videos.
I just had a meeting on finance and believe it or not we discussed the power of scent also, how stores use it and how it makes us buy. So, let's take a little adventure into the world of dopamine delights, guided by none other than yours truly and the incredible work of Dora Jean Creation.
Imagine dopamine as that awesome DJ at the best party you've ever been to, getting everyone on their feet and making the night unforgettable. In the world of online scrolling and swiping, dopamine is what makes us feel all the good vibes when we see something truly amazing. It's the secret sauce that keeps us coming back for more, craving those visual feasts and soulful beats. Tik Tok is the king of dopamine at the minute. but what about the training world or office space or even spotify.
Now, enter the stage, Dora Jean Creation - not just any artist, but a photographic designer who's like a wizard at capturing moments that make your brain dance with joy. Think of your favorite track , one that you can't help but play on repeat because it just feels so darn good, or that video of the man falling down the icey stars that you keep replaying and laughing harder then you probably shold. That's dopamine in action, folks!
So, how does this magic happen? Simple! It's all about creating images that don't just catch your eye but tug at your heartstrings and tickle your brain cells in all the right ways. our aim is to master this by mixing vibrant colors, stunning compositions, and that sprinkle of movement and mystery that on occassion makes you wanna dive into the picture. It can be like a visual concert, where every element is perfectly tuned to make your dopamine levels hit the high notes.
And here's the kicker for us in the art and music biz: understanding this dopamine dance can totally revolutionize how we connect with our audience. By crafting experiences that aren't just seen or heard but truly felt, we create those unforgettable encores that keep our fans coming back for more. tik tok does this by adding filters, you get a dopamine hit each time you add that bold glamour filter or the dog ear filter
So, as we jam out in this digital world, let's take a leaf out of this sensory playbook. Let's blend art, science, and a dash of dopamine magic to not just create but to resonate, leaving a lasting impression that's as powerful as a chart-topping hit.
Thanks for tuning in to today's beat on the science of engagement. Keep creating, keep inspiring, and let's make every piece of our work a hit that gets everyone talking, sharing, and loving what we do. Thank you for listening please like and share . See you soon
