The first major international race of 2026 proved to be a thriller at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez as Nick Cassidy scored Citroen Racing’s first Formula E victory in only its second race. The Kiwi scored possibly his greatest E-Prix win from 13th on the grid after an audaciously clinical Attack Mode strategy was pulled against all the odds. Some brilliant overtaking was also built in to the drive which Cassidy pulled off superbly to head a close train of Edoardo Mortara, Oliver Rowland, Taylor Barnard and Jake Dennis over the finishing line. The finale of the 2024-25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship season saw total domination by Nick Cassidy and the Jaguar TCS Racing team as they swept to their fourth and fifth victories in the last six races. It guaranteed them second place in the teams’ standings and Cassidy the runners-up position just before he leaves the team for a Stellantis flavoured drive next season. The wins in London also saw Jaguar boss James Barclay sent off in style as he will join the McLaren Hypercar operation later this year. Porsche’s success in capturing of the manufacturer and teams’ titles despite only winning one race this season is dug in to, as is the performance of Mahindra which captured fourth position in the standings after solid performances by Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara. The ongoing saga of Antonio Felix da Costa’s future at Porsche is debated as the knock-on of his decision stalls drivers’ futures and the whole complexion of the grid for next season. An appraisal of Formula E’s surprising choice of Homestead as a venue for the tenuously titled Miami E-Prix is picked through after a messy end to a race that saw numerous penalties applied. Pascal Wehrlein had elements of fortune on the way to his first E-Prix win of the season, while teammate Antonio Felix da Costa was one of several drivers to be scuppered by a late red flag for a multi-car shunt at a specially made chicane. The possibility of Wehrlein retaining his title is dug in to, as is the poor early season form of Jaguar, who will lose its team principal James Barclay at season end. A miserable weekend in Florida from the Stellantis powered car is also analysed, as is strong performances from Nico Mueller, Dan Ticktum and Lucas di Grassi, the last of which scored a momentous surprise second place for a reborn Lola.
