Poem:
I thought I knew what running felt like:fast heart, flushed red cheeks,
Legs heavy with an acid they call — “lactic”.Left hip tender, right knee tight, hamstrings twitching, two calves scared with fright. Hunched over, hands on my knees,
Trying to make friends with oxygen/Puffing, Heaving,
I asked the people around me? Am I a runner yet?Coach gave me spreadsheets, and a heart-rate strap.Above one seventy five on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
Below one thirty, on the days your legs don’t feel like talking.
Follow your feet, follow the signs,Follow the roads, follow the tree-lines.
Just don’t follow the people on your screens. What they’re selling isn’t a feeling, it’s a pdf wrapped up in pretty colours,
Trying to sell you some kind of self-healing.
And if you see straight through it,
You’ll go back to the start. Running way too hard, stress-fracturingwanting more of your racing heart. This isn’t running. No, this is an output. A byproduct of a curious mind,
An interpretation of something divine. So what am I feeling? - A tall man stops me in my tracks. He says “I’ve been doing this fifteen years”l look him up, I look him down,
Supposedly, he’s running this town. He’s got bright yellow laces, and a hat I’d like to wear.Shorts that go from Copenhagen to Berlin,An agenda he wants to tear. I’ve been in this game as long as you,I’ve had my heart broken, and my hands too,yet after all these kilometres, I’ve left something unspoken.
So I’ll tell you what it feels like… Mr man.
Running is a movement that rips me apart,
But never leaves me lonely. Running is a place I pray,
But it’s not my religion. Running is my place of claritybut it’s not my ocean. It’s the home I choose to return to,
When the walls of the world shake. It takes me to the people,
Who dare to hold a heart, my heart. It shows me the way through,
When the signal drops out. But that’s not it. I go back to the streets, back to the red walls, and my red cheeks. I follow the white lines, I paint the white words. and one feeling comes up. Running feels like something true, a rebellion against the world I knew. If I had to choose one word to save,Mr man, the word I know,
Is brave.

Poem:
Everyone tells me to be brave,
But I want to be brilliant,
and they don't understand.
How scary it is.
To put yourself out there.
To be kind when the world is cruel.
To keep going when they copy.
To show up tired.
They think bravery is a light switch.
ON. OFF. ON. OFF. ON. OFF. ON. OFF.
No. Bravery is a choice. A habit.
Brilliance is an illusion.

Poem:
A year later
The fig tree looks stronger,
it has overtaken the toolshed
and reaches far, talking to the sweet potatoes.
Old man, he shuffles with his scissors
A full bucket of grapes
His son tells me he could go forever
I'm sure the sweet green figs will sustain him.
Old lady, she makes me smile talking about sugar
She prepared dessert earlier
Her heart has been shaky
But the fig tree gives her something to do
My love, Her first visit to the island
The table below the unripened fruit is dusty
I wrote many pages there, staring at the ocean
I'm sure the fig tree remembers
The poet, he has returned once again.
Reminded of a simple life below the mountain
He nees more time in the sun,
For now, He'll share fresh figs in the shade.

Poem:
Bird by bird,
The lady said
Find a bird
Write a bird
Draw a bird
Watch a bird.
And as one comes,
another goes.
I cannot expect one on my palm
And I shouldn't wish one to change it's path.
I know the birds have an eye on me.
Just like I do on them.
But a day feels too long,
so instead, I take things,
bird by bird.

Poem:
Josh read:
Although the rhythm of the waves beats a kind of time, it is not clock or calendar time. It has no urgency. It happens to be timeless time. I know that I am listening to a rhythm which has been just the same for millions of years, and it takes me out of a world of relentlessly ticking clocks. Clocks for some reason or other always seem to be marching, and, as with armies, marching is never to anything but doom. But in the motion of waves there is no marching rhythm. It harmonizes with our very breathing. It does not count our days. Its pulse is not in the stingy spirit of measuring, of marking out how much still remains. It is the breathing of eternity, like the God Brahma of Indian mythology inhaling and exhaling, manifesting and dissolving the worlds, forever. As a mere conception this might sound appallingly monotonous, until you come to listen to the breaking and washing of waves.
Andy:
Don't forget to imagine the best case scenario, too.

Poem:
Are you mad?No.Are you mad?No, I couldn’t be. Are you mad?Some days, I suppose.Are you mad?Not really, only a little.Are you mad?I’m colourful, I’m red.Are you mad?That’s what they tell me.Are you mad?I have no choice.Are you mad?Yes.Are you mad?Yes, of course?Are you mad?No, I am just a mirror to the world.

R.I.P - My friend, Sohail Sakhi.
Poem:
There is a space that exists between you and the marathon.
A pang of curiosity,
An ache of knowing,
A love for potential,An acceptance of something bigger. You never signed up for the marathon. It was inevitable that your name would one day be on the list,
A letter in the mail,
A bib across your body. You were a number in a lottery,
With fate ruling order,The marathon is a realisation,
Your time has come.Because where you are now,Is a space too small,
To hold you,
To run,
To be.
The space between you and the marathon,Is 42.2km. The space between you and your next iteration,Is the distance between receiving and accepting.

Poem:
“I hope you find me running.”I leave this note on the table, every day.I hope you find me running,I’d make it a silver necklace, if I had time to play.I hope you find me running,in a moment between clouds passing,a moment with speckled sun.Perhaps, the birds flying by,would pause and stare, maybe they would stop and cry,
Looking at this act so rare. I hope you find me running,
Not amongst the forest,
Or down these trodden streets.I’m sure it might be lakeside, yet, it shouldn’t be the case.I hope you find me running,
For it’s my favourite place. Running is a matter of the heart, something otherworldly, something out there. many people warn not to startI just ask you to wait, should you have time spare. In a place between me and you, exists worlds so far, so blue, ones I cannot access, without being in toe with you. Running is a place I hope to find you.Running is a place, with my heart to view.In a world that moves so terribly fast,What I find, I’m sure will last. In all my dreams,In all my wishes,
never did I think the day would finally come true,
Where I looked up towards you,and before I knew, you whisperedI hope you find me running.

Poem:
Runner,
Who are you?Are you where you started? Are you your shoes and wardrobe? Are you longest run?Are you your best memory? Are you your saddest memory? Are you your injuries? Are you your heartbreaks? Are you your wins? Are you your tears? Are you group of friends? Are you your age group? Are you how you live? Are you your tactics? Are you your mindset? Are you what you eat?Are you your outfit? Are you your personal best? Are you your statistics? Are you who you say you are?

Poems from "Honey Pot" a hand-made Zine from Love Trails.
Poem:
I want to share running like I do my honey,
I want to put it in a jar and leave it in your cupboard.
I want you to know this thing called running, never goes off.
#2:
Anyone can love honey.
Anyone should try.
Anyone isn't everyone.
Anyone was once no-one.
Anyone is you.
Anyone is me.
Anyone is free.
Anyone is running,
if they want to be.
