Is God punishing me, or preparing me? In week four of Heart of God, Pastor Seth works through Hebrews 12 and what Scripture actually means when it talks about discipline. The message covers how to tell the difference between God's correction and the enemy's attack, why the wilderness shows up everywhere in Scripture, and what it means that difficulty often reveals before it changes. "Satan attacks who God says you are. God confronts who you've made yourself to be." "Sometimes God knows what's coming in your not-so-distant future, and He knows you today aren't ready for it. His discipline isn't always a reaction to bad behavior. It can be deep preparation for something more." "He loves us exactly where He finds us. But He loves us too much to leave us there." Scripture referenced: Hebrews 12:5-13 Proverbs 3:11-12 Deuteronomy 8:2-5 Romans 8:1 Isaiah 35:3 Isaiah 42:3

In week three of Heart of God, Pastor Tim works through what it actually means that God is holy – completely unique, and completely pure, and what that has to do with us. "I didn't run to Jesus because I'm perfect. I ran to Jesus because I'm so short of his glory." "If we have a passive view of the cross, we will have a permissive view of sin." Scripture referenced: 1 John 1:5-10 Romans 3:21-26 1 Peter 1:13-21 Exodus 15:11 Job 34:12 Psalm 89:14 Habakkuk 1:13 Zechariah 8:16-17 Isaiah 66:2 Revelation 4:8 ABOUT METRO COMMUNITY CHURCH We're a church where people want to move closer to God, each other, and the disconnected. Why would God still want me? That question is where we begin the Heart of God series. Week one works through Matthew 11 and the moment Jesus says "Come to me." "Your weakness is not a reason to run from Jesus. It's a reason to run to Jesus."

What does the church actually do when it gathers? In the final week of Ecclesia, Pastor Seth Conerly works through three things scripture says a gathered body of Christ is for: protecting the unity Christ has already established, devoting ourselves to spiritual formation, and using our gifts to serve one another. "The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips, then walk out the door and deny him by their lifestyle." - Brennan Manning Scripture referenced: Ephesians 4:1-6, 15-16 · Philippians 2:1-4 · Colossians 3:12-17 · Acts 2:42-47 · 1 Peter 4:8-11 · Romans 12:3-8
