SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE — WHAT DID THE FOUNDERS ACTUALLY MEAN?“Separation of church and state” is one of the most repeated phrases in American political and religious discussions—but where did it actually come from?In this episode of Let’s Talk About It, we go back to the beginning and examine the First Amendment, the Founding Fathers, and the historical origins of the idea commonly called the “separation of church and state.”What does the First Amendment actually say?Did the Founding Fathers intend to remove religion from government and public life—or were they primarily protecting Americans from the government establishing a national religion while also protecting the free exercise of religion?We’ll look at the wording Congress actually adopted in 1789, the ratification of the Bill of Rights in 1791, and the historical circumstances that shaped the Religion Clauses.We’ll also examine Thomas Jefferson’s famous 1802 letter to the Danbury Baptist Association, where he used the phrase “a wall of separation between Church & State.” Interestingly, those exact words do not appear in the First Amendment. Why God have you chosen me to be, why when your calling do I choose to flee Why did you save me with those rusty nails when I continue to mess up and fail I fail my family, I fail my God, I am less than that lonely dog I walk with no purpose here on this Earth, but that book tells me that I have some kind of worth. I believe your words, I believe every one, but I cannot help wonder if I am already done. I constantly struggle and ask myself why, do others already feel like they have died I copy the worship of the others around, but it feels forced and unnatural like my soul is bound I see other working and pointing to you but I feel as useful as two left hand shoes It brings me great pleasure to have a son but it often feels like aside from that I'm done My heart is sealed tighter, my lips will not work expressing myself makes me look like a jerk I know there is a God and he is bigger than me, but sometimes he seems so big I am less than a flea I want to do right and bring glory to High, but I fall short and am left with a sigh My God if you hear me why am I this way, I know it is something your not ready to say Sometimes I feel mislead, lonely and wrong, I hope one day you can make me renewed and strong. I long for that which others may save, a friend and companion with the Creator who gave

Empty Cities: In empty cities no one grows, the lights are low and no one grows When you enter a building it seems not alive, nothing you can see will raise any pride As you wonder no one will see, its like an eraser that makes you not be There are skyscrapers and malls with no one at all You can call out and plea but no one answers your plea Sometimes you see others against the sky, no bother greeting as they are just passing by There is no one to hug you, kiss or share love - you can try to earn it but there is only a snub Be cautious as if you stay for to many moments as the effect on your brain will be very potent Take my advice if a dead city is in your way, turn around or you will have to pay But you ask, is there any reward? No just a long life in the loneliest ward.
