Movies are nearly a universal language. They can inspire us and make us laugh. They can make us feel better on a bad day and be the perfect way to round out an evening. Movies can exhilarate us with thrilling plots and well-crafted dialogue. They can scare us silly and cause us to hide under a blanket. Movies pump us up with intense action scenes and great one liners and break us down with heart wrenching dramatic endeavors. Across the globe and the human race, we have an amazing opportunity within each DVD case or streaming flick we click on to share an experience with those we love or within a community of fans. But what if we weren’t totally sure how to best speak the language of the cinema? What if we wanted or even needed a little guidance when it came to expanding our film frontiers? That’s where we come into the equation. We are the self titled Cinemasters of the Universe and we love movies just a little bit more than your average joe, even though we are just a couple of average Joes. Frankly that’s kind of our specialty. Comprised of Ron “The Rental King” Avis and Adam “Nighthawk” Peterson, we have always had our own independent passions for movies from an early age. Through the years we’ve cultivated this bent towards film into an ongoing love affair with all things devoted to the silver screen. Through years spent in video stores as both patrons and Clerks, we’ve devoured thousands of movies and developed an eye for what we do and do not like about all things movies. It’s a street smarts about film with just enough heart that doesn’t come from a school but a lifelong pursuit of motion picture excellence. So we aim to provide our wealth of knowledge and observation to any and all who will gather to listen and watch whatever expertise it is exactly that we possess. We will share our thoughts on the movies we love. We’ll introduce you to films you’ve never seen or even heard of before. From time to time we’ll break down some of the more intricate moving parts of the movies we watch but our aim is always to make it accessible to the every person because deep down we want other people to share our love of movies as well. We aren’t polished or fancy. We’re just a couple of dudes who love talking about movies and hope that whatever things we say from silly to heartfelt have some translation into your own worlds to enrich the movies you chose to watch and share with those around you. That’s what makes us the Cinemasters of the Universe.

It’s official. The Cinemasters have returned just in time for Halloween with the Spooktacular! It’s been a minute but The Rental King and that man from the north are back in our ears with more scary movie reviews. First up on the list is an indie film from 2011 and newcomer at the time, director Ti West, called “The Innkeepers”. Our Cinemasters are going to break this one down and let you know a little bit of what they’ve been up to. So buckle up because these boys are just getting back in the saddle it’s the CINEMASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE!!!

Just in time (sort of) for Halloween (but not really) it’s our second episode of the Spooktacular! Ok listen folks, we’re really trying here. This spooktacular isn’t over just because it’s full on Christmas season now either. If anything, we’ll just start in on the Silent Night, Deadly Night franchise if you make us. But this isn’t a trick. This episode is ALL treat. This gem, pun intended, was discovered by Adam during his 31 Days of Horror and brought to life on the podcast by our boys.We proudly present to you the majesty that is Psycho Goreman! So grab your pillowcase of candy, but ditch those razor blades in that Snickers bar first, and listen in to this latest episode of the CINEMASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE!

Well, well, well. It has been a minute since we’ve seen each other, hasn’t it? It feels good to be back. And back we are! It’s time to get this Spooktacular kicked off right. We’re firing things up this year with a Rental King selection that is sure to terrify you. This indie film from earlier this year had all kinds of buzz around it so the Cinemasters are digging in for your Halloween delight. Mastering 'Five Nights at Freddy's' (2023)

Welcome back Cinemaster fans for a special episode of the Spooktacular 3.0! This time we’ve got a very special movie to talk about and an extra Cinemaster Jr. in the house to talk with us. Ron and Adam are talking all things Freddy! No, not that knife gloved madman who stalks you in the dream world. I’m talking the animatronic pizza purveyor who comes for you in real life, though both prefer to work while you’re snoozing. Ron took his son Logan to see this movie opening night in theaters so all three of them will be talking all things Five Nights at Freddy’s. This is your official warning that there’s gonna be some spoilers since this one is brand new. But if you’ve seen the flick in theaters or on Peacock streaming already, or you just don’t care about spoilers as it stands, grab your popcorn and get ready for this Spooktacular installments of CINEMASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE!!!

Mastering 'Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter (1984)

How fortuitous to have Friday the 13th in the middle of a Spooktacular! After a little break (even Cinemasters need a little recovery time here and there) the Rental King and that fella from the North are back at it with a franchise deep cut this time. Adam’s pick is Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter. As luck would have it, the boys were able to record this episode ON Friday the 13th. It would seem the stars have aligned as Ron and Adam sit through this installment in the series and bring you play by play on the film with interesting bits of trivia and full commentary on all things Jason Voorhees. So grab a teddy bear or maybe your favorite machete and cozy up to this episode of Spooktacular Volume 3 of the CINEMASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE!!!

Mastering 'Stir of Echoes' (1999)

The best part of waking up is Bacon on your screen! Welcome back Cinemasters to the third installment of the third annual Spooktacular brought to you exclusively by no one, especially not Vermont Aged White Cheddar. This week we are turning back the clock to when years started with a 1 for a lost classic, Stir of Echoes. In this ghostly tale of murder we find a newly clairvoyant Kevin Bacon communicating beyond the grave with the girl gone missing. In a shining performance along side Katherine Erbe (she’s having a baby in real life and in the movie) you’ll dig this creepy caper all the way up to it’s exciting conclusion. So grab you pop corn, dim the lights and join Ron and Adam for this weeks terrifying tale on the CINEMASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE!!!

Mastering 'Willy's Wonderland' (2021)

We are officially underway in Spooktacular 3.0 and things are starting to really get good. This week the fellas are taking on a pandemic darling known as WIlly’s Wonderland. With the resurgence of all things Nicolas Cage, this hidden gem is all kinds of fun. A mute protagonist finds himself stuck between a rock and a murderous pack of satanic robots with nothing but a handful of special sodas and a flair for pinball. Join Ron and Adam as they spend the night at Willy’s Wonderland where evil animatronics come to life and try and stop Cage from sprucing up a dilapidated destination pizza place. So grab a slice, put on your party hat and join us in singing “It’s your birthday and we want you to have fun!” on this installment of the CINEMASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE!!!

Well hello again Cinemaster fans and let me officially welcome you to the third annual Spooktacular! Ron and Adam are kicking things off early this year and getting a jump on spooky season as soon as possible. Now that it’s September it’s time to start busting out hoodies, munching on candy corn and cranking up the scary movies! In the first installment the boys pull out all the stops and offer up a whole new experience with a modern classic horror flick, It Follows. So light up some candles and dim the lights, grab a blanket and some popcorn and join us for a long awaited inaugural opening of the Cinemasters of the Universe Spooktacular!!!

Mastering 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' (1990)

Cowabunga Cinemaster Fans! After a hiatus we are back at it and hitting 2023 hard with a timeless classic, 1990’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. And if we are going to do this right, we’re going to need a little extra help. This episode brings in Nick “The Prince of Pixels” Wright to help Ron and Adam dive deep into the ooze of this flick. Full of personal stories, interesting trivia and hardcore facts about the film, our reptilian martial arts loving hosts are sure to provide that extra special something you’ve grown to love. Mind you, this episode will not be under 30 minutes but it’s still free so no worries there. So grab your appropriately colored eye mask, according to your corresponding spirit turtle, a slice of your favorite kind of pizza and don’t forget your sai, Raph, and join our three ninja masters on this episode of the CINEMASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE!!!

Mastering 'As Above, So Below' (2014)

If you thought this terror train was coming into the station at the end of October, you’re sadly mistaken. Episode 5 of the Spooktacular is underway! And this time we’re heading under France into some of the tightest spots the catacombs have to offer. This claustrophobic haunt is a hidden gem of the found footage subgenre and it has so much to offer. Just think of the Blair Witch on steroids and pack it tightly in the literal Parisian underbelly. Join Ron and Adam as they carefully squeeze through this mix of adventure and fright in the latest installment of the ongoing spooktacular in this episode of the CINEMASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE!!!

Mastering 'The Ring' (2002)

It’s week 4 of the Spooktacular and we’re off to not-so-sunny Seattle in search of a killer VHS tape! For those of you unfamiliar with VHS, it’s how we watched movies back in the day. But a movie that kills you in 7 days is not for the faint of heart. In this installment our Cinemasters are taking on the 2002 US iteration of The Ring. Ron and Adam will introduce you to Rachel, Noah, and Aidan, the second creepiest kid in this movie, as we press on with another frightening feature. Just to be safe you’d better make a copy of this podcast and share it with a friend. So unplug the Magnavox and disconnect the rotary phone as you enjoy this week’s episode of CINEMASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE!!!.

Mastering 'Child's Play 2' (1990)

I see you’ve braved our first two episodes and are back for a third in this year’s Spooktacular. This one certainly is a treat as well. If you’ve ever been left alone in a room with a fair skinned, ginger haired doll then you’ve certainly felt that spine tingle that only Chucky can bring. In the highly anticipated sequel to the original Child’s Play, The Lakeshore Strangler turned killer doll is back and searching for little Andy Barclay once again. Ron and Adam sit down to discuss this film but as per usual, they give plenty of extra insight into the entire Chucky franchise. So put on your Good Guy overalls, make sure your voodoo skills are up to snuff and enjoy this installment of CINEMASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE!!!

Mastering 'You're Next' (2013)

Episode two of the third annual Spooktakular means spooky season is in full effect. This week is Adam’s first pick with the 2013 mumblegore indie flick “You’re Next”. Our Cinemasters both have fresh takes on this film and especially it’s Australian Final Girl, Erin. With crossbows and grown up Home Alone traps in place, the boys will negotiate some grisly endings for some very unlikable characters as they dissect this film for you. So grab a meat tenderizer, stay away from the windows and strap in for another extra scary installment of the CINEMASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE!!!

Mastering 'Nope' (2022)

It’s officially the 3rd Annual Cinemasters Spooktacular! Welcome to our first installment of this year’s haunting selection of films. We are kicking it off with Ron’s pick of a 2022 horror flick by the esteemed Jordan Peele, “Nope”. Typically in the past we’ve gone with more classic scary movies so this one does come with an official SPOILER WARNING! This film has been out for several months now but if you haven’t seen it yet, the Cinemasters will be going in depth so if you’d rather check it out first then press pause and come back after you’ve had a chance to watch. Otherwise prepare yourself for the spooky season to officially begin on this latest episode of CINEMASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE!!!

Mastering 'Clerks III' (2022)

Welcome back once again, Cinemaster fans! It’s time for your favorite internet off brand Clerks to bring you their thoughts on the latest and concluding installment in the Randal and Dante trilogy. Spoilers ahead for those who want to enjoy the film first before hearing Ron and Adam’s take on the film. Our Cinemasters don’t hold back in their ups and downs in this fitting and meta finale.
