I greet you in Jesus precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 29th of October, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Isaiah 50:10: “Who among you fears the Lord? Who obeys the voice of His Servant? Who walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the Lord and rely upon his God.” Then we go straight to the Gospel of Matthew 10:31: ”…you are of more value than many sparrows.”  Jesus knows that little sparrow's name. You have nothing to fear today, my dear friend. Keep your eyes on Jesus. He says, “Even that little sparrow cannot fall to the ground without My notice.” I want to read a beautiful little reading I read early this morning and it was by a man of God, and it goes like this: ”In fierce storms,” said an old seaman, ”we can do but one thing. There is only one way. We must put the ship in a certain position and keep her there. This, Christian, is what you must do. Sometimes, like Paul, you can see neither sun nor stars, and no small tempest lies on you; and then you can do but one thing; there is only one way. Reason cannot help you; past experiences give you no light. Even prayer fetches no consolation. Only a single course is left. You must put your soul in one position and keep it there. You must stay upon the Lord; and come what may - winds, waves, cross-seas, thunder, lightning, frowning rocks, roaring breakers - you must lash yourself to the helm, and hold fast your confidence in God's faithfulness, His sovereign engagement, His everlasting love in Christ Jesus.” That is the way, you and I will get through any storm we are going through at the moment. Remember that beautiful old hymn, "Why should I feel discouraged? Why should the shadows come? Why should my heart be lonely and long for heaven and home, when Jesus is my portion, my constant friend is He?"  His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me. I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 28th of October, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Ruth 2:12: ”The Lord repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.” Then we go to Galatians 6:9, in the New Testament: ”And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”  This is such a beautiful story, my dear friends. It has touched my heart very deeply this morning. When we think that Ruth, who was not a Jew, came back to Israel with her mother-in-law, Naomi, to look after her. Boaz noticed it, which is why she found favour with him. Not only did he favour her, but he eventually married her. Her husband had died, remember, and she was a widow and gave birth to a son, and that son went right down the lineage to Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world. So Ruth is of the line of Jesus. We’re not talking about the fact that Jesus Christ came straight from Heaven, we know that, but He was born through the line of which Ruth had the privilege of being part of. I want to say to you today, you must do something for someone who has no idea who you are, and has no idea how they got that blessing, so that the Lord Jesus Christ Himself can bless you for your good works. I’ve seen it before. Let me give you an example: I went to the hairdresser the other day, and I had my hair cut, and as I got up to pay, he said, "It’s already been paid.” He said, “You know the man who was in the chair next to you?” I said, ”Yes.” He’s paid for your haircut.” I said, ”Where is he?” I wanted to thank him. He said, ”Look out the window. You see that blue BMW that’s just reversing out?” He said, ”That young man paid for your haircut.” Folks, that touched me so deeply because he didn’t even want me to know who he was and that is a blessing. Today, do the same thing. Boaz saw what Ruth was doing for Naomi and because of that he blessed her. Not only did he bless her, he married her. Not only did he marry her, but she had a child from the line of David. May God bless you as you do something today for someone who will never know it was you, except the Lord. I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 27th of October, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to Galatians 2:20. Paul says: “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” I read the most beautiful little reading early this morning. It was written many, many years ago by a man named Phillips Brookes. He was an Episcopalian minister in America, and he said something quite profound. He said, "A man who lives in God knows no life except the life of God." Isn't that beautiful?  One of my heroes was a Zulu preacher from southern KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. He was just a young Zulu boy who herded his mother's cattle. He grew up and became a great preacher, a great man of God. He had a tremendous healing ministry as well - William Duma. William Duma was once invited by a group of Christians, with a few other pastors as well, just as a form of thanks for all the work he had done for the Lord -  a trip to Israel, to the place where his beloved Saviour, Jesus Christ, lived and walked and died and rose again. The other pastors - there were a number of them - were overwhelmed, and immediately they said, “Thank you so kindly” - not William Duma. He said, "I am so honoured, I am so overwhelmed, but can I let you know tomorrow? I just have to get permission from my Lord, to go, tonight." The man who lives in God, knows no life but the life of God.  That relationship with God will stop you, sir, from falling into adultery, it will stop you, madam, from looking at other things except Jesus Christ. Young man, young lady, that relationship will stop you from getting involved in pornography on your cell phone, stop you from bending the rules, stop you from cheating because Christ in you is the hope of glory!  Have a wonderful day and give the Lord Jesus Christ full reign over your life today.  God bless you. I greet you in Jesus' precious name. It is Monday morning, the 26th of October, 2026 and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the book of Genesis 28:16. This is Jacob speaking.   Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.” Folks, the Lord is with you and me all the time, and we forget it so often, don't we? Then we go to Matthew 4:25. Great multitudes followed Him - from Galilee, and from Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and beyond the Jordan. Then we go to Mark 12:37 ... And the common people heard Him gladly. Our Lord, Jesus Christ, is the Lord of the common people, the man in the street. One of His titles is "the friend of sinners". I love that one. Yes, folks, He can be found everywhere. He can be found in the palaces of the kings of the world. But mostly you'll find in the Bible He was thronged by the ordinary working class, you could say. Now, I read this beautiful little reading in a small book by an unknown author. It's in Old English, so I'll try and paraphrase it as we go along. The parish priest, a very sincere man, climbed up in the high church steeple because he wanted to be nearer God that he might be able to hand down His word to the people.And in sermon script, he wrote his sermons on a piece of paper daily, what he thought was sent from heaven, and then he dropped it down on the people's heads, twice a day in seven.In his age, God said to this parish priest,Come down, come down from the steeple.And he cried out from the steeple,Where are you, Lord? He's trying to get as high as he can to heaven.And the Lord replied, I'm down here among my people. We don't have to look for the Lord in some special holy place. He is in amongst these people. And by the way, He's in your heart today. Father God, I pray for my dear friend listening to this message, that he or she will remember that they don't have to go to Israel or to Britain or to America to find You. I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 25th of October, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Galatians 1:12: ”For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.” Then we go to 1 Corinthians 15:2: ”…if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.” The Lord is speaking to you and me today about holding fast to our faith. People are questioning the divinity of Jesus Christ. Oh, my dear friend, He’s more real to me than you listening to this message at the moment. You know that Jesus was seen by up to five hundred people after His resurrection, and then Paul says, ”and lastly by me.” There might be one or two Thomas’ this morning listening to this message. “I’ll believe it when I see it. When I can put my fingers through the holes in His hands and His feet and my hand in His side where He was struck by the spear of the Roman soldier, then I’ll believe.” And at that time Jesus just stood right in front of Thomas. He didn’t open the door, He walked through the door and He said, ”Thomas.” And Thomas fell to his knees, ”My Lord and my God.” He said, “Thomas, you do well that you say that but blessed are those that come after you who haven’t seen me and still believe.” It was like yesterday, I’ll never forget it, when I stood on the platform down in En Gedi and I’d been preaching about the rushing mighty wind that filled the upper room, when all the disciples were baptised in the Holy Spirit and began speaking in tongues. I was so overwhelmed by the whole affair - five thousand delegates from all over the world, eighty nations represented. I walked around the front of the lectern, and you can see it on YouTube - it’s there, and I said, Jesus. Please do it again.” And oh, my dear friend, He did it. The wind started blowing so hard it was blowing the equipment off the platform, and then it started to rain. It never rains down there, hardly ever. Jesus manifested Himself to five thousand of us, plus. Today, never, ever doubt the reality that Jesus Christ is Lord of all, and He’s coming back soon.  Jesus bless you. I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 24th of October, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Old Testament, in the Book of Ruth 1:20: "But she said to them, “Do not call me Naomi; call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me.” Then we go to the Book of Job 13:15: ”Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.”  Are you going through a very tough time at the moment? Are you feeling a bit bitter, maybe towards the Lord? Naomi left her country and went to stay in Moab with her husband and her two sons, and they married two girls, but Naomi’s husband and her two sons both died and left Naomi on her own with her two daughters-in-law. The one stayed in Moab, the other one followed Naomi back to Israel, and when she got home, people all greeted her. She said, ”Don’t call me Naomi because I’ve got nothing. I have lost everything.” Maybe you’re there today? I was there. I remember it very clearly. I planted a beautiful crop of corn, of maize, but I made a terrible mistake. I got my plant population wrong. Instead of planting the seeds six inches apart they were coming up a foot apart. I thought I was ruined. They were so sparsely planted that I could walk through the maize crop in the early morning and not get any dew on my clothes, but oh folks, God is in control. I cried out to God just like Naomi did.  You know what happened with Naomi? Naomi’s daughter-in-law, Ruth, got remarried to Boaz. They had a child. His name was Obed. Obed was the father of Jesse, who was the father of King David, and that line goes right down to Jesus Christ. You talk about things changing - she was directly related to the King of Glory. Tragedy turned into an unbelievable victory. And for me, that year we had one of the worst droughts in the history of this district and the men that had planted their maize close together, like it should be, had no cobs because of the drought, but because of the spacing in my crop, I had massive cobs, and you get paid not by volume but by weight, and that year I had a bumper crop. Today, you might be feeling a bit down. Maybe you feel bitter. Things are not going your way. I want to tell you, trust in the Lord like Job the farmer did. Even though He slay me, yet will I still trust Him, and God will turn your situation around. He’s done it so many times for me. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day. Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Friday morning, the 23rd of October, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start with 1 Corinthians 15:22: “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.” Isn’t that beautiful? And then John 3:16: ”For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Praise be to God. Through Adam we have death. Through Christ we have life, as simple as that. Just the other day we were at the little church on the farm, Shalom, and a visitor came to join the congregation and afterwards I spoke to him. I said, ”Where do you come from?” He said, "I come from Iran.” I said, ”Are you a muslim?” He said, ”No.” I said, ”Are you a Christian?” He said, ”No” I said, ”What are you?” He said, ”I’m searching, I don’t know.” Straight away I felt the Spirit of the Lord say to me, “Ask him if he’d like to give his life to Jesus Christ?” I said, ”Would you like to be born again? Would you like to give your life to Jesus Christ?” He said, "Yes please, sir.” And right there and then I prayed the sinner’s prayer over that man and straight away another man walked over, and he came from another town and he was a muslim. He said, ”I too want to accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and saviour.” Isn’t that Wonderful? It’s the name above every other name folks, and we must not be shy or slow to introduce our beloved Jesus to people. It’s not a case of, ”Oh well, I don’t want to embarrass him.” If that man does not know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour, he will go to hell. That’s what the Bible tells us, so who cares whether he’s embarrassed or not. This man is in the Kingdom of God today, and by the way, the Lord impressed upon me to give him a Christian name. I said, ”I’m going to give you a new name.” I haven’t done this before, and his face lit up. I said, ”Your name is going to be Daniel. Daniel in the lions' den. Daniel was in Babylon when the Lord touched him and saved him from ravenous lions killing him.” And so we have a Daniel now, and we are so excited, but I want to ask you a question. You have been listening to the thought for the day, maybe for a long time, maybe not so long. Have you ever given your life to Jesus Christ? The Lord says we must be born again. You’ll find that in John 3:3. Please pray this prayer after me if you would like to be born again. Dear Lord Jesus,  I acknowledge I am a sinner and I need a saviour. Please come into my life. I am sorry and repent for all of my sins and today I ask you to be my soon-coming King and Saviour, and I pray this in Your precious name. Amen. I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 22nd of October, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Psalms 37:5: “Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.”  Then we go to Psalm 55:22: “Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.”  Then the last scripture, 1 Peter 5:7: "…casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”  Today, cast your cares upon Jesus because He will carry your burden and because He cares for you. In Numbers 22:23, we read that the donkey is a burden carrier, but he is also highly intelligent. We think a donkey is stupid. A donkey is not stupid, my dear friend, he is extremely clever. Balaam’s donkey was carrying Balaam along the path, remember? And she stopped dead. Balaam started to hit her with a stick and told her to move. She wouldn’t move. Why? Because Balaam’s donkey saw the Angel of the Lord standing in the road with a big sword. So she went off into the field.  A donkey is an animal of peace, and that is why I love donkeys so much. A donkey carried Jesus into Jerusalem, when all the people laid palm leaves on the roads and their clothes, and the donkey walked over them all. He is the burden-carrier. They say in the olden days, when a king came into a neighbouring kingdom, he would ride a donkey if he meant he wanted peace. If he rode a horse, a war horse, that was indicative of war.  I want to tell you a little story. An old man I loved dearly, named Johannes Nel. He used to ride with me in my truck when I went down into the low-veld, into the homelands, when I went to collect people to come and work on the farm, and every time we went past a group of donkeys that were standing under a thorn tree, the old man would raise his hat and tears would fill his eyes. And I said to him once, “Oom Hannes, why do you do that?” “Oh”, he said, “Angus, that is the animal that carried my Master into Jerusalem”. Yes, I have never forgotten that.  Do you know that a donkey has got a cross on his back? Every donkey - it goes down his spine and across his shoulders. Cast your cares upon Jesus, the Burden Carrier, the Prince of Peace, and He will give you the strength and the ability to complete your task.  God bless you and have a wonderful day, goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 21st of October, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 13:4-5: “He rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself. After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.”   I am talking about an act by the Son of God. I am talking about the great I AM. I am talking about the greatest Man who has ever walked on the face of this earth. He took a basin, He filled it with water, He took His coat off and put a towel around His waist and He started to wash His disciples dirty feet. I want to ask you a question today. Do you feel like you are living a meaningless life? Do you feel like you are living a life of no significance? I want to speak to that mother who is looking after her three children, her husband is a blue-collar worker. He is bringing very little money and she has to make things work. She has to wash her children’s clothes the night before so they're dry, ironed, and ready to put on the next day because they don’t have another set of clothes, and she feels like this life is worthless. I want to say to you mother, I esteem you and I salute you. I want to say to that man who has got a very menial job, you don’t think that anyone is even interested in you and that you are making no contribution to the world. Don’t be fooled. Look what the Son of God did! I want to tell you a story. Maybe you have heard it before. Many years ago, I was in Central Africa with that big truck, the Seed-sower. We were preaching the Gospel to an unreached people, and we were very far into the bush. There was a pastor, a very humble man and his dear wife with a very small flock of people. We were tired, we were wary, we had been travelling for days. We were dusty. Anyway, after preaching the Gospel, we eventually went to bed. I was in a one-man tent. And during the night, I thought I was dreaming, I kept hearing water pouring. I would have given anything to have a basin of water.  When I woke up the next morning, there was a forty four gallon drum right next to my tent and it was filled to overflowing with beautiful fresh, clean water. That pastor’s wife walked back and forth from the river, about half a kilometre away, all night, carrying a bucket balanced on her head, and she brought forty-four gallons of water for us as a team, so we could drink and wash. God saw her heart. Make no mistake, I want to meet her in Heaven one day. Do not think you are of no significance, just do what God has told you to do and do it with much joy, and your reward is awaiting you in Heaven.  Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 20th of October, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Galatians 1:12: “For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.” That is a very powerful word, an encouraging word for many lay-preachers, men who tell people about Jesus without having gone to Bible College or university. Then we go to Exodus 3:14: “And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ”  What a beautiful confirmation! The last one is 2 Corinthians 3:6. Paul says: “…for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.” I want to say to you today, my dear friend, that we need the Holy Spirit like never before. I want to qualify something right at the beginning. I have no problem with education. I have no problem with Bible College, with university or studying Theology. In fact, I wish I could have done it myself, but it was not possible, but for those who have not been to university, those who have been to the school of life, that is my teacher. It was the same teacher of the great preacher, Charles Haddon Spurgeon. He never had any Bible instruction at all and he was regarded as the “Prince of Preachers”.  What about Dwight Lyman Moody? A shoe salesman, a farm boy. He went to Britain on a crusade and came back a couple of years later having led over 2 million people to Christ. His teacher was the Holy Spirit. Today, do not despise small beginnings. Do not sell yourself short. Tell people what Jesus has told you. Where do you find that? In the quiet time place, in the closet, early in the morning. You do your preparation before you get on the platform or into the pulpit. That is why I never use notes in the pulpit because I do my preparation at home and I keep my eye on the people to hold their attention.  Let the Holy Spirit direct you today.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Monday morning, the 19th of October, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.  We go straight to the Gospel of Matthew 5:22: ”But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire.”  Those are strong words, spoken by the Master, the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. We need to be very careful when we use those words! There was a famous Scottish poet. His name was Robert Burns, and he lived a long time ago. He said, “A man is a man for all that.” What does that mean, Angus? Well, it means that he is not an animal. He is a man, a creation of God, therefore, treat him as such. We need to be careful how we speak.  Why am I speaking to you this morning about this very fact? Because a very dear friend of mine has just passed away. He gave his life to Jesus in our little Christian coffee bar in Greytown, many, many years ago. He died in his sixties. I think he gave his life to the Lord when he was a young teenager, maybe 14 or 15, and he became a friend of mine over the years. But he struggled. He struggled with mental illness and was very often mistaken for the things he said and did. He was an immensely strong man, very powerfully built, but I loved him dearly.  I can tell you right now that today, he is in the presence of Jesus Christ. Why? Because he loved God with a passion. I have not met many men who could memorise scripture verses like he could. What an incredible man. He used to love going up the mountains with me. We used to walk the mountains together. We need to really be careful that we don’t judge a book by it’s cover. We make that mistake too often, don’t we? He knew my birthday. I didn’t know his. He never, ever forgot to wish me happy birthday, and he knew the birthdays of every single member of my family, oh yes.  Have you heard of a man named John Nash? He won the Nobel Prize for mathematics, but he struggled with mental illness all his life. They made a movie about him called, “A Beautiful Mind.” Folks, I want to tell you something now, that movie and my dear friend have taught me one thing - to be kind, gracious and gentle with people who struggle with mental illness, because I want to tell you, they are definitely not fools. Let us love our fellowman, because he is a creation of God.  Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 18th of October, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of Luke 9:16: “Then He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude. So they all ate and were filled, and twelve baskets of the leftover fragments were taken up by them.” Then we go straight to the Gospel of John 21:12: “Come and eat breakfast.” Another version says: “Breakfast is ready.” Oh, my dear friend, how are you feeling today? Are you feeling deserted? Are you feeling desperate? I want to tell you that Jesus has compassion on you and me. He saw that the people were hungry. A little boy had two little fish and five barley loaves that his mother had probably made for his lunch. Jesus took it and fed 5000 men, not including the children and the woman. I believe in miracles, but the point the Lord is making this morning is that He loves us and He wants to help us and he wants to feed us, not just spiritually but physically as well. The story, you know it well, I have told it many times before. We were having a large men’s conference on this farm, Shalom. We were catering for 5,000 men. We said we would feed them three meals, supper on Friday night, lunch on Saturday afternoon and supper on Saturday night. Well, you know what happened! 7,500 men arrived! And the kitchen staff came running out and they said, “Please tell the men to go easy with the food.” I was so overwhelmed by the response and the amount of men that came. I said, “A message from the kitchen, eat as much as you can!” Oh but folks, after those three meals were finished, my good friend, Peter, came running into the tent when we were all praying and he said, “We have just counted all the leftover food. There are thirty six baskets of left overs. Thirty-six divided by three, that’s right! Twelve baskets of leftovers per meal, exactly like when Jesus fed the five thousand! Today, do not be anxious, do not be afraid because Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8) He will supply every one of your needs. God bless you and have a wonderful day. I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 17th of October, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in 1 Corinthians 13:1: ”Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.” Then we just move on a little bit further to 1 Corinthians 14:10: ”There are, it may be, so many kinds of languages in the world, and none of them is without significance.”  There are a great many languages in the world and folks, we need to get the Word of God, Jesus Christ, out to a dying world. We are not talking about Bible studies, we are not talking about history lessons. We’re talking about the undiluted love of Jesus Christ Himself, and the best way we can do that is to get the Bible into individual languages as quickly as possible. That is why I have a great respect for two groups of people in this world. Number one, intercessors. Those who lock themselves up in their closet and pray every day for the power of God to be manifest in this dying world through the name of Jesus Christ, and secondly, the Bible translators of this world. Those people who are sitting in the jungle somewhere, I know some of them. They don’t see any anybody, nobody seems to notice them but they are committed to translating the Bible from English into unknown languages, and that’s what Paul is saying today. One of the great leaders in this country once said, ”When you speak to a man in English you speak to his head, but when you speak to him in his mother tongue you speak to his heart.” Today, you and I need to start speaking to the heart of people. The world is desperate for love. If we look at the four Gospels, we will see that people flocked around Jesus just like bees around a honey pot. Why? Because they wanted to experience the undiluted love of Christ. Now you and I have that privilege. Let us not waste the time that we have on this earth. Let us not get involved in things that have no consequence for eternal life. Let us talk to people about the future.  Let us tell them that there is a God Who loves them. Let us tell them that there is a Christ Who is coming back soon to take His people back to Heaven with Him. Let us leave no one behind. I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Friday morning, the 16th of October, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Judges 16:30: “Then Samson said, “Let me die with the Philistines!” And he pushed with all his might, and the temple fell on the lords and all the people who were in it. So the dead that he killed at his death were more than he had killed in his life.” Then we go straight to the New Testament, John 12:24. Jesus says: “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.” We had a Mighty Men Conference many years ago on this farm and we called it, “Dying to Live”. The biggest enemy you and I face is our own self-preservation and stinking pride. If you want to live, you have to die.  As soon as you say, “No, I can’t do that because what happens if it doesn’t work?” And “I can’t do that because if I go up there and share my testimony, people will laugh at me.” They might do, but they might also give their lives to Christ. I want to tell you a little story that happened in our little town, Greytown, 15 kms away from this farm. Greytown is nestled in a little valley. A massive 40-ton truck was coming down the road. It was loaded with some heavy cargo, and the poor driver, coming down that hill, had his brakes fail, and he couldn’t stop the truck. The truck started picking up incredible speed, and as he approached the town, coming down the hill, he didn’t know what to do, because just ahead of him was the end of the lessons for the little school down at the bottom of the hill. All the children were coming out of the classrooms and they were walking across the road.  Well, there could have been a mass disaster, but that brave driver- and I don’t even know his name, but Jesus knows his name - do you know what he did? He drove that massive truck into a huge gum tree that's still standing today. He drove his truck straight into the tree and of course, crushed himself to death because the cab literally disintegrated and the load was trapped at the base of the tree and all the children were saved. That is what Jesus Christ did for you and for me! He sacrificed His life so that you and I can have eternal life. I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 15th of October, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of John 15:13: “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” Then we go straight to 1 Corinthians 13:1: “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.” Very powerful words! 1 Corinthians 13 - known as the chapter on love. This is a very special chapter for me.  I have done many weddings. In fact, I have married two of my own daughters to their husbands in the little chapel on Shalom Farm, two sons and another daughter. I have many children, and it is such an honour and a pleasure, but I want to say to any young, budding preacher, if you are ever stuck at a wedding and you don’t know what to say, just read the full chapter of 1 Corinthians 13, and there is your sermon, there are your instructions for the young couple. It is the most beautiful and challenging chapter. The Lord speaks through Paul, but He speaks very clearly. He says, “If I have no love,” he says, ”though I bestow all my goods, feed everybody, and I even give up my body to be burnt, if I have not love, it profits me nothing.”  A wedding is a very sacred time, and we make vows. We make a promise to God, “Till death do us part, we will stay together." That is a huge commitment. I made it myself, not far off 50 years now, and I want to tell you, I remember the day like yesterday. Count the cost before you ask that young lady to be your wife. Count the cost before you accept that proposal because it is very serious, and then put into action everything in this chapter, and even if you are a young married couple, I want to encourage you to read this chapter often. It really does challenge us and God will enhance and make your wedding day all that much more purposeful.  Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, goodbye.
