Ep50 – Celebrating 10 years in Business!
2026/01/26
It’s a double celebration: our 10th birthday and our 50th episode. Join Rob Boone for a trip down memory lane — from the 2015 leap to launch on the Wirral and those DIY first days, to a 14-strong team and a purpose-built HQ in Upton. We revisit the Covid years (and how this very podcast began), the client matters that shaped us, and the partnerships taking us nationwide in property. Expect humour (yes, the grey-hair gags), candid lessons, and practical takeaways from building a modern law firm — plus a toast to everyone who’s listened across 50 episodes.
For more information and details of the full range of services on offer, you can visit the Johnson & Boon Solicitors website.
If you would like some further help or advice, you can call our offices on 0151 637 2034 or email [email protected]

Ep49 – How assets are divided as part of a divorce
2025/10/28
In this episode we unpack how assets are divided on separation: the family home, pensions, savings and investments, businesses, vehicles, and debts—as well as ongoing support like maintenance. We outline the key factors courts weigh, including children’s needs, each person’s income and future earning capacity, available resources, housing needs, ages, health, standard of living, length of the relationship, and contributions.
We also flag complications to watch for: missing disclosure, hard-to-value pensions or businesses, pre/post-nups, overseas assets, tax timing, and enforcement issues. You’ll leave with practical pointers on getting organised, seeking early advice, and aiming for fair, workable agreements.
For more information and details of the full range of services on offer, you can visit the Johnson & Boon Solicitors website.

A Financial Order is the court-approved way to make a divorce financial agreement legally binding. In this episode we explain what they cover (home, pensions, savings), why timing matters, and the risks of skipping one—like later claims—even after an amicable split. We also flag why independent legal advice helps you avoid paperwork pitfalls and protect both parties for the long term.

Ep36 – COVID-19 Business Interruption Insurance Update
2021/02/22
Many businesses have been impacted by COVID-19 and all should have business insurance, but the big question this last few months has been do they have business interruption cover in that policy and can a claim be made to cover the losses that have been sustained?
A huge test case was decided at the back end of 2020, but that decision was appealed by the insurers involved and this month the Court made a decision on that appeal.
This episode sees solicitor, Jonathan Field review that decision, the points that were considered and the subsequent implications.
