Restoration, Not Innovation - Reformation Day Lectures
2026/11/01
Message from Mike Kloss on November 1, 2026
Choose Life - The Forgiven Life Is a Holy Life
2026/11/01
Synopsis: Jesus ends the Sermon by setting life and death before you, as Moses did, and shows you the greater righteousness in five pictures: the narrow or wide gate, false prophets or true, good fruit or bad, works of lawlessness or works of the law, and a house on rock or on sand. You cannot stand on what you say about Christ, only on knowing him, so choose wisely today. Sermon Text: Matthew 7:13-29
LORD of the Harvest - Single Sermons
2026/10/25
Synopsis: God has established the law of sowing and reaping to teach us about his character and duties as his chosen people. Sermon Text: 1 Corinthians 3:10-15
The Divine Standard of Love - The Forgiven Life Is a Holy Life
2026/10/18
Synopsis: God’s generosity is the ethical standard in our relationships with one another. We must not be hypocritical, but wise and generous in whom we share what we have so graciously received. Sermon Text: Matthew 7:1-12
Trust, Not Trepidation - The Forgiven Life Is a Holy Life
2026/10/11
Synopsis: Jesus is a greater Solomon, teaching His disciples the wisdom of the kingdom. Anxiety about life in this world robs us of life in the world to come. We cannot secure our investments or other circumstances, because we are not omnipotent — and we can't add to our days by anxious living. The wisdom here works from the lesser to the greater: the omnipotent Lord feeds and clothes every living thing in creation, and man is God's greatest creation — so will He not also feed and clothe you? Seek first God's kingdom and righteousness. Lose your life and you will gain the life of Christ, in Christ, for Christ. Do not be anxious. Do not worry. Have faith. Sermon Text: Matthew 6:19-34
The Lord's Prayer - The Forgiven Life Is a Holy Life
2026/10/04
Sermon Text: Matthew 6:9-13
The Theater of God's Glory - The Forgiven Life Is a Holy Life
2026/09/27
Synopsis: In Matthew 6:1–8 and 16–18, Jesus turns from the Pharisees' teaching to their "good works." He exposes them as hypocrites: actors who give, pray and fast for the praise of men and their own glory. Jesus doesn't abolish these disciplines. He redirects them to their true audience, calling his people to live coram Deo, before the face of God, in the theater of his glory, where the Father who sees in secret is himself the reward we cannot earn. Sermon Text: Matthew 6:1-8; 16-18
The Heart of Biblical Justice - The Forgiven Life Is a Holy Life
2026/09/20
Synopsis: Jesus closes the triads on the law by addressing the heart of biblical justice. The state is God's minister of justice and vengeance while the individual believer should focus on acts of mercy and imitating the Father’s common grace. Sermon Text: Matthew 5:38-48
Let Your Word Be a True Word - The Forgiven Life Is a Holy Life
2026/09/13
Synopsis: Christians guard their marriage vows and their words by guarding their heart. Fidelity in making oaths or vows is crucial for those who serve the Word of truth, Jesus Christ. Sermon Text: Matthew 5:31-37
Gate Keeping Our Desires - The Forgiven Life Is a Holy Life
2026/09/06
Synopsis: We must keep our imaginations pure to keep our hands pure — this requires mortification of sin and renouncing “self,” that the life of Christ may be vivified in our heart, mind, and strength. Sermon Text: Matthew 5:27-30
Heart Murder - The Forgiven Life Is a Holy Life
2026/08/30
Synopsis: Christ's greater righteousness exposes anger as heart-murder, requires reconciliation before worship, and demands urgent settlement with our adversary — because the law was always aimed at the heart, not merely the hands. Sermon Text: Matthew 5:21-26
Restore One Another - Single Sermons
2026/08/23
Synopsis: True religion isn't external conformity to a list of rules — it's the family bond of brothers and sisters united to Christ, who get low enough to bear each other's weight and gently restore one another when sin traps someone in the church. But that ministry of restoration is only possible for those who've dealt with the log in their own eye first, since self-deception about our own standing before God is exactly what makes us unfit to carry anyone else's burden. Sermon Text: Galatians 6:1-3
Psalm 2 - Single Sermons
2026/08/16
Sermon Text: Psalm 2
Covenant Salt and Life - The Forgiven Life Is a Holy Life
2026/08/09
Synopsis: Jesus fulfills the Law and the Prophets to make his kingdom people the salty light of the world, who obey the living Torah, Jesus Christ. Sermon Text: Matthew 5:13-20
Heaven - Single Sermons
2026/08/02
Synopsis: A synopsis of the reality of heaven; The future destination of those who are united to Christ. Sermon Text: Revelation 21:5-8
