In this episode of Confidence Restored, we explore what it means to speak up when it would be easier to stay silent. Inspired by a recent news story about an AI researcher, Jacob Coxon, who resigned from a major artificial intelligence company and publicly warned about the potential dangers of rapidly advancing technology, we examine a question that reaches far beyond AI: What happens when people with knowledge, influence, or insight choose not to speak? At first, the warnings about the future of AI sparked fear. But as I reflected, my thoughts turned to the story of Esther. Like Esther, many of us find ourselves in positions where we can see problems unfolding around us. We may be tempted to remain silent out of fear, comfort, self-preservation, or uncertainty about the outcome. Mordecai's challenge to Esther in Esther 4: 13-14 remains relevant today: "For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise from another place... And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?" Just like Esther, we must decide whether we will remain silent or step into our calling. Because for such a time as this, God may be calling us to do the right thing, speak the truth, and use our voice to bring hope, wisdom, and change. If God gave you a vision, He also gave you a voice. What do you do when disappointment shakes your confidence? In this episode, I share the story of auditioning for a dance team, believing I had made it, and later discovering I wouldn't be able to perform because my scores weren't high enough. It was a difficult moment. But that disappointment led me to discover new opportunities, leverage my gifts in different ways, and learn an important lesson about resilience. Sometimes confidence isn't restored by getting what we wanted. Sometimes confidence is restored by discovering what's still possible.
