Our Failures, God’s Faithfulness | Genesis 12:10-20
2026/10/25
Abram obeys God’s call, but a severe famine hits the land God promised him. Genesis 12:10–20 follows him into Egypt, where fear leads him to protect himself with a half-truth that endangers his wife and God's promises. The plan works, and that is the unsettling part. God may permit an unfaithful choice to produce the result we wanted, but the damage and consequences remain.
In “Our Failures, God's Faithfulness,” Pastor Eric traces Abram's self-reliance, the cost of apparent success, and the Lord's decisive intervention. Abram's actions created the crisis, but God's action preserved the promise. Grace did not excuse Abram's disobedience or erase every consequence, yet his failure could not overturn God's faithfulness.
Living on God’s Promises | Genesis 12:4–9
2026/10/18
How do God’s people keep obeying and worshiping while they wait for His promises to be fulfilled? Genesis 12:4–9 shows Abram entering Canaan without possessing the land and still without the offspring God promised. Abram can obey God’s command, but he cannot produce the promised future. Fulfillment rests on God’s faithfulness, not Abram’s ability.
In “Living on God’s Promises,” Pastor Eric traces Abram’s obedience, God’s renewed promise, and the worship that marked Abram’s journey. The rest of Scripture shows that the promise leads through Israel to Jesus Christ. Those who belong to Christ already possess forgiveness, eternal life, and the Holy Spirit, while still awaiting resurrection and the fullness of their inheritance. Until then, Christians keep obeying what Christ has said and keep worshiping in every season because God has been faithful.
The Promise That Shapes the Story | Genesis 12:1-3
2026/10/11
Genesis 12:1–3 begins with God calling Abram. God speaks, calls him away from everything familiar, and promises a future Abram cannot produce for himself. Abram has no map, no child, and no way to know how God will fulfill His promises. All he has is God’s word.
In this opening sermon from God’s Promise Through the Patriarchs, Pastor Eric traces three movements in the passage: God calls Abram to leave what he knows, commits Himself to Abram’s future, and carries His blessing beyond Abram. Galatians 3 shows that the promised blessing reaches the nations in Jesus Christ. Everyone who belongs to Christ is an heir according to promise. Abraham’s story teaches us to begin with the God who speaks and to trust what He has actually promised. God binds the future of His people to His own word, and God keeps His word.
What Are You Giving Yourself To? | Titus 3:9-15
2026/10/04
At the end of Titus, Paul asks us to consider what our religious activity is actually producing in us. Christian subject matter is not automatically spiritually profitable. One evidence that truth is forming us is that we remain correctable by truth, willing for God’s Word to expose what we have misunderstood or failed to obey.
Paul then turns to ordinary people, practical responsibilities, and real needs. Grace-produced good works make a transformed life visible as believers faithfully love the people Christ has placed in front of them. Yet Christianity does not begin with what we give ourselves to. It begins with Christ giving Himself for us. The grace that saves is also the grace that trains His people to live fruitful lives.
He Saved Us | Titus 3:3-8
2026/09/27
What actually explains the difference between who you were and who you are? In Titus 3:3-8, Paul refuses to let the answer be anything we did, decided, or finally got serious about.
He first reminds Christians what we all once were, leaving no ground for contempt toward people who still live as we once lived. Then he gives the answer: God saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to His own mercy.
In this sermon, Pastor Eric follows Paul’s movement from our former slavery to God’s saving kindness, the renewing work of the Holy Spirit, justification by grace, and the sure hope given to heirs of eternal life. The passage also puts good works in their proper place. They contribute nothing to the cause of salvation, but they necessarily belong to its fruit. Nothing in us explains the difference. He saved us.
The Difference Grace Makes | Titus 2:15-3:2
2026/09/20
What difference should saving grace make in the way Christians live in the world? In Titus 2:15–3:2, Paul carries the truth of grace into the church's life under God's Word, its readiness to do good, and its treatment of all people. Titus must keep bringing that truth to bear. Believers are called to live under civil authority and stand ready for every good work. They are also called to speak without reviling, avoid a taste for quarrels, and show gentleness without choosing exceptions.
This life is not a way to earn God's acceptance. Jesus Christ gave Himself to redeem and purify a people for Himself; His grace is still training them. Paul's brief look ahead to “we ourselves were once” keeps Christians from moral superiority. The same grace that rescued us shapes how we live among others.
Saving Grace Is Training Grace | Titus 2:11-14
2026/09/13
Many Christians understand that salvation is a gift of grace, but when it comes to growing in holiness, the conversation often shifts toward self-effort. Titus 2:11-14 makes clear that the same grace that saves us is also actively training us toward self-controlled, upright, and godly living. Grace is not simply something God did in the past. It is something He is doing right now. This means we are called to grace-dependent effort, working out what God is working in us, not relying on our own strength, but not sitting passively either. Christ gave Himself not only so that sin would no longer condemn us, but so that sin would no longer own us. We pursue holiness not to earn our place with Christ, but because we already belong to Him. The grace that saved you is the same grace that is training you today.
A Life That Commends the Gospel | Titus 2:9-10
2026/09/06
What happens when our conduct contradicts the gospel we profess? In Titus 2:9-10, Paul shows that ordinary faithfulness can adorn the teaching concerning God our Savior. Submission, speech, honesty, and trustworthiness matter because Christian conduct should fit the gospel Christians proclaim.Paul originally addresses enslaved believers within a severe and broken institution, not modern employees. Yet the passage still brings our ordinary responsibilities beneath Christ's lordship. Its hope rests beyond improved behavior. Christ gave Himself to redeem sinners and make a people His own. The grace that saves us from our sin also trains us toward increasing faithfulness. We do not become Christ's by becoming faithful. We increasingly become faithful because Christ has made us His.
When Grace Forms a Woman | Titus 2:1, 3-5
2026/08/30
Who gets to define the woman? In Titus 2:1 and 3-5, Paul shows that biblical womanhood is Christian maturity lived as a woman under Christ's gracious rule.Sound doctrine forms mature women whose devotion to God governs their speech, appetites, and influence. Grace then works through those women as they help younger women bring ordinary relationships and responsibilities under Christ's rule. Marriage and motherhood receive their proper weight without becoming the measure of every woman's worth.Paul also warns that Christian conduct can either display or contradict the Word we profess. That responsibility belongs to the whole church. Our hope is not impressive performance, but Christ's redeeming work. He gave Himself to purify a people, make them His own, and train them by grace.
What Kind of Man Are You Becoming | Titus 2:1, 6-8
2026/08/23
Culture offers loud and conflicting answers about what it means to be a man, but Scripture speaks clearly. Titus 2 presents a vision of biblical manhood that is neither about dominance nor passivity, but about a life increasingly shaped by God's grace. Older men are called to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, loving, and steadfast. Younger men are called to one essential pursuit: self-control, which means ordering the whole of life under the gracious rule of Christ. Godly character does not happen by accident. It must be taught, modeled, and rooted in sound doctrine. The self-controlled man is not a self-made man. He is a grace-trained man.
Shaped By Sound Doctrine
2026/08/16
How does Christ actually change ordinary people? In Titus 2:1, Paul turns from the false teachers whose lives denied their profession and commands Titus to "teach what accords with sound doctrine."
Healthy doctrine is more than correct information. It is God's revealed truth shaping the faith, character, speech, and ordinary lives of His people. This sermon traces why truth and life belong together, what competes to form us, and why Christian growth cannot be produced by willpower.
Christ forms His people through His Word. The grace proclaimed in the gospel is received by faith and applied by the Holy Spirit, giving believers both honest conviction and lasting hope.
When False Teaching Corrupts the Church - Titus 1:10-16
2026/08/09
It is possible to say all the right things about God while living in a way that contradicts everything you claim to believe. In Titus 1, the Apostle Paul draws a sharp contrast between those whose knowledge of God produces genuine godliness and those whose profession of faith is hollow. True knowledge of God does not stay in the mind. It transforms the heart and produces a life that reflects the God you know. False teaching, on the other hand, replaces God's truth with human ideas and external rule-keeping, corrupting individuals, families, and churches from the inside out. The answer is not trying harder to prove your faith. It is knowing God through Jesus Christ, by grace, through faith. Where our works have denied God, Christ's perfect obedience has been credited to us, and He offers the transformation that no amount of willpower can produce.
Entrusted | Titus 1:5-9
2026/08/02
The church belongs to Christ, purchased by His blood and built by His power. Titus 1:5-9 addresses a vital question every congregation must wrestle with: who can Christ trust with His church? Paul instructs Titus to appoint elders who are above reproach, faithful in their homes, and firmly anchored to sound doctrine. These qualifications are not reserved for church leaders alone. They are a picture of what grace produces in every believer. Every Christian must ask what truly rules their life in the private, ordinary moments. The greatest protection Christ gives His church is not merely qualified elders. It is Himself, the chief shepherd, who is perfectly faithful and will never abandon what He purchased with His own blood.
Truth That Produces Godliness | Titus 1:1–4
2026/07/26
Paul's opening words to Titus are not a simple greeting. They are a theological foundation for the entire letter and a challenge to every follower of Christ. The Gospel gives us truth, produces godliness, secures our hope, and forms us into one family.
The People Christ Creates | Colossians 4:7-18
2026/07/19
In this final message from Colossians 4:7–18, we see that Christ builds His church through ordinary people whose lives have been changed by grace.
Paul’s closing greetings are more than a list of names. They show us faithful servants, gospel partners, praying believers, hospitable homes, and ordinary church members fulfilling the ministry they received from the Lord.
This sermon calls us to consider where Christ has placed us, what He has entrusted to us, and how we can serve His church with faithfulness. We are not called to do everything, but we are called to faithfully do what Christ has given us.
