BRING OUT THE BOOK | Convo #1: Read
2026/09/28
What does it look like to actually make room for God’s Word in our lives? In Nehemiah 8, God’s people gathered in Jerusalem and asked Ezra to “bring out the Book.” Then they did something remarkably simple: they listened. From daybreak until noon, Ezra read God’s Word aloud, and the people paid attention. They were intentional. They were purposeful. They even built a wooden platform specifically for the occasion. In this first challenge of BRING OUT THE BOOK | 7 Days in Nehemiah 8, Tosha Williams invites us to consider whether we are merely spending time around the Bible—or actually opening God’s Word and reading it for ourselves. Along the way, Tosha shares a meaningful connection between Ezra’s platform “built for the occasion” and the Family Disciple Me platform that she and her team have spent years building to help people Meet with God and Make Him Known. But ultimately, the challenge becomes personal: What are you intentionally building into your life to make room for God’s Word? Before explaining it, applying it, teaching it, or sharing it—start here. BRING OUT THE BOOK. Read it. Pay attention. Be purposeful. ______________________ The Family Disciple Me ministry exists to catalyze devotion driven discipleship in our homes and around the world. BRING OUT THE BOOK | 7 Challenges from Nehemiah 8 | Introduction
2026/09/21
What do you do when something in your life—or your family—needs to be rebuilt? Where do you turn for truth, direction, and a foundation strong enough to build on and pass to the next generation? Welcome to BRING OUT THE BOOK: 7 Challenges from Nehemiah 8. I’m Tosha Williams, founder of Family Disciple Me, and I’m so glad you’re joining me for this journey into an ancient story with a powerful invitation for our lives today. In Nehemiah 8, God's people were rebuilding after generations marked by exile, displacement, and loss. The walls of Jerusalem had been restored, but their lives and families needed something more. They needed God's Word. So men, women, and children gathered together and asked Ezra to “bring out the Book.” What happened next gives us a beautiful picture of devotion-driven discipleship. Over seven episodes, we'll walk verse by verse through Nehemiah 8 and discover how God's people read His Word, responded to it, sought to understand it, let it impact their hearts, went deeper together, lived it out, and continued day by day. But we'll start here:  with the simple imperative to bring out the Book. God's Word is filled with treasures waiting to be discovered—and passed on. So grab your Bible, invite someone you love, and join me. BRING OUT THE BOOK. ______________________ The Family Disciple Me ministry exists to catalyze devotion driven discipleship in our homes and around the world. TRASH IT | Convo #1: Introduction | Time for Some Holy Housekeeping
2026/09/01
What if “take out the trash” is the most freeing spiritual practice you try this year? In this episode, we turn a familiar household chore into a vivid, practical metaphor for discipleship, using Ephesians 4:22–23 as our anchor: throw off what doesn’t belong and let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Instead of organizing our clutter, we talk about removing it—clearing space for God’s new work in a new season. We walk through the difference between obvious sin and subtle weights that still slow us down, drawing on Hebrews 12:1 to name what hinders our race. From there, we lay out four honest categories that shape the weeks ahead: unhealthy inputs we consume, unhelpful habits that drain focus, ungodly emotions we’ve stored rather than surrendered, and false narratives that distort how we see God, ourselves, and others. Each theme begins with Scripture, moves to simple questions—what, why, how—and ends with small steps of obedience that make room for renewal. This is devotion-driven discipleship in everyday language: seek God personally, speak about him intentionally, and lead those entrusted to you without handing them a to-do list. You’ll hear a gentle, clear invitation: when the Spirit puts a finger on what needs to go, “trash it,” and let Him transform what remains.  Ready to start the year with less weight and more freedom? Listen, share with a friend, and spend some time HERE in the devotion-driven discipleship guide.  ______________________ The Family Disciple Me ministry exists to catalyze devotion driven discipleship in our homes and around the world. TRASH IT | Convo #6: Conclusion
2026/09/01
One question keeps cutting through the noise for us: what do you want the most? Not the answer you know you’re supposed to give, but the one your life proves through what you cling to, defend, and keep making room for. If you’ve felt spiritually distracted, emotionally full, or like you can’t quite experience God’s presence the way you want, this conversation brings it back to something deeper than behavior. It brings it back to desire. In this final episode of the "TRASH IT!" conversation collection, we talk about how “holy housekeeping” is more than cleaning up habits. It’s spiritual decluttering for the heart: noticing what we take in, what we repeat, what we carry, and the narratives we keep believing. We reflect on Philippians 3:7-8, where Paul calls everything else garbage compared to knowing Christ, and we explore why this isn’t about forced sacrifice or earning approval. It’s about making space to see God clearly so everything else can find its proper place or be released. We also lean on Psalm 27:4 and the idea of a "one thing" life. Choosing Jesus as our central desire doesn’t make everything easier, but it makes everything clearer, because we stop crowding our vision with what we have to justify, compromise for, or keep pulling back out of the trash. We close with the reminder that Seek Him leads to Speak Him, creating room not only for God, but for the people He’s entrusted to us.  The conversation guide that goes along with this episode is found in the Family Disciple Me app! ______________________ The Family Disciple Me ministry exists to catalyze devotion driven discipleship in our homes and around the world. LISTEN LINGER LEAD | Convo #1: An Introduction into the Rhythm
2026/09/01
Have you ever felt the pull to grow closer to God, yet found yourself distracted, rushed, or unsure where to begin? We start with a scene most of us recognize: the music is great, the rhythm is steady, but nobody moves until one person finally steps into the beat. That small act changes the whole room, and it’s a picture of how spiritual momentum often begins in real life.  I’m Tosha Williams, and I’m sharing a simple framework that has shaped how I walk with God and how I disciple the people He’s placed in my everyday life. The rhythm is listen, linger, lead. We listen for God’s voice as we draw near through Scripture and prayer. We linger in His presence long enough for Him to form us, not just inspire us. Then we lead by letting what He’s doing in us flow outward in conversations, relationships, parenting, mentoring, and ordinary moments where faith becomes visible. That’s devotion-driven discipleship, the move from Seek Him to Speak Him.  Psalm 73:28 anchors it all: “It is good to be near God… I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge… I will tell of all your deeds.” We connect each phrase to a practical next step, and we name the tension many Christians feel: we try harder, get tired, and wonder what’s missing. What if the issue isn’t effort, but rhythm? If you’re hungry for deeper Christian living that’s doable in everyday life, this is your starting point.  This episode goes along with a devotion-driven discipleship guide that can be found in the Family Disciple Me app. Sign up to be the first to know when it's available! ______________________ The Family Disciple Me ministry exists to catalyze devotion driven discipleship in our homes and around the world. Come On In | Convo 1 | A Step by Step Tour Through the FDM App
2026/09/01
You can feel it when something is built to welcome you. That’s the heart behind the Family Disciple Me app, and it’s what we lean into as we guide you through your first steps inside this new space for family discipleship and spiritual growth. We walk you through how the app is organized so you always know where you are and what to do next: Themes that help you choose a starting point, Guides that gather conversations around a Scripture or topic, and Conversations where discipleship actually happens. We also explain why every conversation begins with a Bible passage. Before we seek God, we remember He is already seeking us, and that truth turns Bible study from rushing and skimming into slowing down and listening. From there, we unpack the core rhythm that shapes the entire experience: Seek Him Speak Him. In Seek Him, we use three simple questions to help Scripture land in real life: What is God saying through this text? Why does it matter today? How is God inviting me to respond? Then we move into what we call Speak Him, because what God is forming in you is meant to be shared. Discipleship can be as simple as one honest conversation at a time. The podcast itself is a companion guide you can play before, during, or after you work through a conversation in the app. If you’re looking for a practical Christian devotional, a Scripture-based discipleship tool, or a simple way to disciple your kids, your students, or a friend, this walkthrough will help you start with clarity and peace. Subscribe, share this with someone you’re discipling, and leave a review to help more people find the show. Come On In | Convo 2 | An Intro to the FDM App with God's Promise and Invitation
2026/09/01
You know the moment. Someone you love says something real, the door cracks open for a deeper conversation, and you can almost feel the opportunity sitting there. You want to point them to God’s Word, you want to lead well, and then your mind goes blank because you’re not sure where to begin. We talk honestly about that hesitation and why it usually isn’t a heart problem. It’s a starting point problem. I share why Family Disciple Me was created and how simple, meaningful, intentional Bible conversations can happen without pressure or perfect phrasing. Discipleship doesn’t require you to have all the answers. It requires willingness, attention, and a next step. Psalm 32:8 anchors the whole approach with God’s promise to instruct, teach, and counsel us personally. When we trust that we’re being led, we can lead someone else with humility and confidence. From there we get practical with a repeatable rhythm for Christian discipleship and family discipleship: listen to God through Scripture, linger with Him in prayer and reflection, then lead by inviting someone else into what you’re already learning. If you’ve been looking for a realistic way to disciple your kids, mentor a friend, or grow as a spiritual leader at home, this is a clear place to start. Subscribe for more, share this with someone who wants to grow in faith conversations, and leave a review so more families can find it. Who is one person you can invite into God’s Word this week? ______________________ The Family Disciple Me ministry exists to catalyze devotion driven discipleship in our homes and around the world.
