33.046 Sad news in the rockin' scene this week as we mourn the unexpected passing of seminal California singer/songwriter/musician and all-around gentle giant Russell Scott at the age of 58. Russell has been the bass player for Big Sandy & The Fly-Rite Boys for the last 5 years but was primarily known for his presence in the Southern California roots rock scene since the late 1980's/early 1990's where he led his band, Russell Scott and the Red Hots, a well-received trio that perfomed rockabilly music with a smooth swing & blues style. Russell will be missed and remembered fondly by millions of fans the world over. Tonight we pay tribute with a deep selection of his brilliant recordings and an exclusive live interview with friend Axle (Alex Idzardi).
