Happy Holidays and New Years fellow listeners.  The boys hope you had a great 2025 and wish you a marvelous 2026.  To start things off with a bang, Chris brought a disgusting Japanese gore film that is sure to push your buttons.  Which film you say, why it's Women's Flesh My Red Guts.  While it may not be Tumbling Dolls of Flesh (which he proposed as well), it was equally disgusting in many ways.  Listening to this podcast is fine, but watching the movie may not be.  View at your own risk...with alcohol!

Happy late November, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and the upcoming Christmas season.  The boys are back for another episode of difficult content.  This month, Justin brought a Belgium film about bullying that really hits home with parents.  So much so...that he's already looking in to signing Lily up for martial arts.  That film is Playground.  It's a direct, visually captivating piece of storytelling with a focus.  It's also a great companion piece with another film that Filmed Obscura tackled (A Better Place), and should be on everybody's radar.  Cheers to all and Happy Holidays!

Happy Fall Folks!  The boys are back with Chris' pick for the new season.  Trigger warning...this episode discusses a film about suicide with real depictions of the events.  It is the definition of difficult cinema.  That film is Eric Steel's The Bridge.  It's the first documentary to be tackled on Filmed Obscura, and boy does it deliver on the goods.  It's unexpected, shocking and poignant.  Please enjoy with caution and understanding.  

Welcome to the end of summer folks.  Booo that...but to help ring in your Labor Day weekend, the boys are back with the fourth episode of the new season.  It was Justin's pick this time and he went with the original Japanese gore film: Jigoku (aka The Sinners of Hell).  This film is arthouse to the max and may not be for everyone.  Justin wasn't shy to note that he was NOT in the mood for it when they watched it on the very pretty Criterion disc, but it carries a gravitas of beautiful imagery and powerful messaging that shouldn't be missed.  It's also quite gory for the time.  Now is a good time to grab that Asahi Extra Dry and dive in to Jigoku!  Happy Labor Day to all and enjoy!

Folks!  Folks!  Holy hell.  The boys just tackled a doozy of a picture.  Oh boy.  For episode 61, Chris brought out the infamous, cruel Spanish production of The Coffee Table.  You've probably heard about it.  Maybe you've seen it.  It's something great.  It's well done, well acted, shot beautifully, and shocking as hell.  Find it now on Tubi because they spoil it.  Let's say that again, there are SPOILERS in this episode.  Go watch it!!!

Hallo meine freunde!  The boys are back for the 60th episode of Filmed Obscura.  As noted in the preamble, this will be our May episode since Justin dropped the ball and delayed the release.  Sigh.  Anyway, it's a fun episode where the gents tackle 80s synth rock, German exploitation cinema.  This month's slice of enjoyment is Eckhart Schmidt's Der Fan.  It's chock full of 80s goodness, rock entitlement, child grooming, and bone pulverizing.  So grab your delicious beverages and enjoy the ride.  Prost!

Oh boy friends! The new season is upon us.  Part 2 of the "Tougher to Watch" cinema is back and Justin is scared.  Seriously, he's not ready for this.  There have been too many easy, fun films in the past months that he went soft.  Chris is ready to bring the heat and toughen him up again, and he's starting with Marian Dora.  Oh boy indeed.  This time, it's Dora's short segment in the anthology: The Profane Exhibit.  Starting the season off right with a Marian Dora short film.  Welcome back friends.  Grab your beverages!  Part 2 is upon us!  Cheers!

The boys are finally back!  Slight delays were recently afoot but the February episode is upon us (although it's dropping in March).  This marks the final episode of season 7.  Chris brought a solidly made, surprising and interesting film called Sator that everybody should see.  The boys also give the listeners their top 5 watches of 2024 with honorable mentions.  So that being said, go on and grab those leftover beverages from Valentine's Day, or crack open those brews you're saving for St. Patty's Day, and get ready for a fun episode!  Thanks again for tuning in!!!

Happy December friends.  The boys are back for another helping of awesome, somewhat obscure, movie fun.  It was Justin's pick this month and he went with one of his FAVORITE films.  His spirit animal...as he puts it.  That film is Moorehead & Benson's Spring.  Their wonderful follow-up to Resolution, and just a marvelous slice of indie cinema.  It has love, monsters, meandering, conversations and Italian scenery for all to enjoy.  So tune in with a nice glass of wine (or whichever beverage you choose) and enjoy!  Happy Holidays all!

Happy Almost Thanksgiving friends!  The boys are back after a little delay.  Apologies are warranted because Justin and Chris had some scheduling issues that prevented them from recording and releasing the new episode in October.  To make amends, they have the new one ready just in time for turkey day, and also have a little bonus Spotlight episode coming this month as well.  For this gem, Chris brought a BANGER to the podcast.  It's a "movie" for sure...and it's full of martial arts, zombie ninjas, psycho monks, pretty things, and Cameron Mitchell.  That's right, Blood and Black Lace's own Cameron Mitchell.  What movie you ask?  Why it's Raw Force.  You might want a little buzz for this one because it's awesome.  Cheers!

Welcome back for the first episode of the fall season (technically).  While there is no pumpkin spice to celebrate the episode, Justin brought a certified banger to the Filmed Obscura world.  It's a film that he knew Chris would vibe on, and it's frankly one of the better religious cult movies in recent years.  What movie you say? Why that is Riley Stearns' Faults.  You guys don't want to miss this one.  Grab those pumpkin spice brews and apple cider donuts friends.  You won't be disappointed.
