The day the Earth stood still is more than the 1951 classic sci-fi warning of nuclear proliferation that started the meme that aliens won't want to play with us monkeys cause we're too violent. HEY, LOOK, THIS GUY MADE A LIST! See, everyone cares. Lists are unequivocally the most popular content of my show, so why fight it? In this episode, you'll learn about advergames, a portmanteau combining advertisement and video games (You also just probably learned that portmanteau is the actual word for blended words that combine and retain both origin words' meanings). This style of games became a must for companies to keep up with new trends in media and as a way to avoid regulation from the FCC. The games on this list may be objectionable, but my show, my picks. I left out an honorable mention: all of the recent KFC games, especially the Colonel dating sim. If there are any games you wish were on the list, make sure to leave a comment!   

Listener Daryl reached out on a topic he wished to hear me take a stab at. Crabs becoming crabs! Last year, this meme was going around about how all things would eventually become crab, and myself, apparently being an actual crab and living under a million rocks, was oblivious of any such meme. So I did some research and got myself in a fizzy on just how many clickbaity articles and videos I found NOT ACTUALLY EXPLAINING A THING! So I did what I do and became the guy in the corner at the party nobody wants to talk to because every sentence I utter must start with "Well, aCtUaLlY" (just kidding, I also hate those people). No, I actually just did real research, found the meme's source, and just explaining the meme. I also sprinkle in some zoology in this episode to spice things up a notch. It's a quick and dirty listen, my friend. This is Fast Facts, after all.  

Have you ever wondered what the greatest pet would be? Are you basic and saying it's a dog or a cat? Well, listen up, and maybe you'll learn a thing or two. The answer is a baboon. Travel back to the 19th century and the tale of a disabled railway worker and his pet baboon that worked the tracks alongside his owner. Warm your heart knowing that this primate and man were best of friends, often being seen holding one another's hand. Hold back the tears learning how tuberculosis took away another angel from this world too early.  Listen to the tale of signalman Jack right here in this episode of Fast Facts. Were on the sprint to forty, my friend, and every topic I've been struggling to make a fuller, more robust episode on, I'm throwing in the pot and doing it anyway. After all, this is a trivia show, and if you pay attention, you may learn which genus of the old world monkey a baboon is. Hint: it's Papio. O and I use Princess Diana as a transition. Because she's the only royal, I think anyone should care about besides the Queen because she campaigned for something honorable. We care about the Queen because she's living history. I really don't get the fascination with the royal family, but c'est la vie. P.S. I left a blooper in the middle of this because I made myself giggle, and I was smiling for a while. The bit just sounded weird having the tonality change without it.  

On the latest installment on my road to 40 by April 19th, I cover the one and only Mansa Musa, potentially one of the wealthiest men to ever live. Did you think Crassus had a lot of gold when I did that episode on him? Well, this dude had a gold mine in his super long regal title! Maybe there is something to seizing the means of production. However, I wouldn't have a show to talk about whatever I wanted, especially if that want had to do with extravagantly wealthy individuals! So I think I'll pass on the marxism and learn up on those socials practices they're doing over in Europe. I'm sure there's an ism to those economic modes... ok, I'm ranting. Mali, empires, money, Africa, pilgrimage, dude king, that's what you'll learn here in this show today. I hope you enjoy and pick up a thing or two.  

Did you know Weezer is categorized under emo music? I don't think that's right at all, or I clearly don't know what emo style is. Like isn't Kill Switch Engaged or Atreyu more appropriate? Also, I'm sorry for rambling about something this episode has nothing to do with, but it's my show, and I'll do what I want; so, not sorry, I suppose. In this episode, you won't hear nor learn anything about music. This episode right here is the first in my marathon sprint to reach forty episodes, and I thought hypothermia would make for a lovely starting point. Sometimes, the end makes for a great beginning; look at the Harold Pinter classic, Betrayal. Facts will come flying fast, so make sure you pay attention or listen again...especially to that beginning ad roll por favor; I have bills to pay. However, if you insist on spoiling the fun, I discuss the woman who defied death and survived when her core temperature reached well below average. Go back to that time a goose took down an airliner. There's even something about a miracle and a child in there towards the end.
