After a long journey, we're here, the pen-ultimate chapter of the War of the Worlds, Wreckage. With the Martians gone the way of the Dodo, what wreckage do they leave behind? And what will our narrator find on his journey home? As we've heard in the last chapter, those invisible assailants have done us a big kindness in the War of the Worlds, but are they always friendly tiny buds helping us out? Wells' would have known whilst writing the novel. If you've ever heard/read/seen the War of the Worlds before, you'll know that far and away the tripods are the most memorable part. AND THEY'RE HERE! One leg is bad, two legs good, three legs? Perfect! As the Martians ascend out of their pit will the narrator return the rented dog cart back? Will he bump into a bizarrely large amount of people in a war zone?
