IA MIX 405 Jonnnah
2026/08/20
INTERVIEW + TRACKLIST > https://inverted-audio.com/mix/jonnnah
IA MIX 405, Lyon-based producer @jonnnah (Pierre Paumier) delivers a fever dream of dubbed-out breaks, lush techno, and tech house — a mix built for both a 2am club slot and the near-dawn train ride home.
In an interview with Jason Cabaniss, Jonnnah discusses his early conservatory percussion training, his move from Ableton and early synths toward a rhythm-driven hardware setup, and the making of his new LP What They Left on his own Second End Records. He talks through the album's therapeutic origins, collaborating with Pavel Milyakov on Me, With You, and running Second End on admiration rather than strategy.
The mix previews a more club-oriented, techno-driven direction he's currently developing, featuring two standout tracks from Polish producer a.sl alongside cuts from Model 500, cv313, and Freund Der Familie — emotional continuity over rhythmic mixing, true to how Jonnnah approaches DJ sets and live shows alike.
IA MIX 404 Answer Code Request
2026/08/03
INTERVIEW > https://inverted-audio.com/mix/answer-code-request
Recorded to accompany Halo, his first album in eight years, this is a tighter, dancefloor-oriented session from Patrick Gräser. Where a Berghain marathon might stretch to five hours, IA MIX 404 compresses that same energy into a compact, club-focused set. The selections lean spontaneous rather than thematic, drawing on what Gräser has been playing out recently - groovier, house-inflected material sitting alongside the tougher techno his name is best known for.
IA MIX 403 Eric Cloutier
2026/07/20
INTERVIEW > https://inverted-audio.com/mix/eric-cloutier
Will Patterson sat down with Eric Cloutier to talk about his debut LP My Friend The Abyss and dig deeper into the man behind Palinoia, published alongside an accompanying all-vinyl mix recorded live at Tresor Berlin. Cloutier reflects on 27 years of DJing and the "quality over quantity" philosophy that's kept Palinoia to just 12 releases in ten years. He discusses the slow, pressure-filled transition from digger to producer, admitting he's his own harshest critic and works entirely in-the-box by choice.
The album itself, he reveals, was born out of catharsis, a release valve for an especially brutal couple of years, which explains its unexpected swings into jungle, dub and ambient territory alongside his signature techno. Cloutier also speaks candidly about the current state of club culture, criticising promoters chasing metrics over substance and DJs feeding audiences predictable, algorithm-friendly sets, while affirming his own refusal to chase trends just to stay afloat.
IA MIX 402 P Relief
2026/07/08
INTERVIEW > https://inverted-audio.com/mix/p-relief/
P Relief, of ambient house label P&D with Suzanne Kraft, drops his latest EP Fluff, pushing tempos further into bass music with metallic, punchier rhythms while keeping the label's serene, tonic-like quality. His accompanying IA MIX blends house and bass-leaning tracks around 125bpm, drawing from recent and upcoming releases. Tight and continuous rather than loose, it reflects Inverted Audio's forward-thinking focus. The piece also touches on P&D's 10-year run, its marble-cover artwork, and an accompanying interview covering Berlin, Los Angeles, and more.
IA MIX 401 Ulf Eriksson
2026/05/18
INTERVIEW + TRACKLIST > https://inverted-audio.com/mix/ulf-eriksson
Malmö DJ and Kontra-Musik label head Ulf Eriksson sits down with us alongside longtime collaborator Andreas Tilliander — known to most as TM404 — to talk through their first joint release, Ulf Och Andreas - EP 1. It's a record ten years in the making: minimal, raw house and techno that bears the marks of their ongoing creative tension — Eriksson pushing for restraint, Tilliander reaching for layers. The conversation is candid, often funny, and revealing about how both artists work. Eriksson also recorded an IA Mix to accompany the release, moving from PST's warm house through Omar-S and Eletun Selona to the duo's own material.
IA MIX 400 Hoavi
2026/04/27
INTERVIEW + TRACKLIST > https://inverted-audio.com/mix/hoavi
For our 400th mix, we wanted something that felt genuinely singular. Kirill Vasin, aka Hoavi, delivers exactly that — a mix composed entirely of music made by him and his students.
Hoavi is a teacher of music composition, and the philosophy that underpins his work bleeds into everything he touches. His recent album Architectonics on Peak Oil draws on the interlocking rhythmic traditions of gamelan, approaching form and timbre with the rigour of a composer and the intuition of a producer. That same spirit of communal practice is at the heart of IA MIX 400.
Read our interview with Hoavi and listen to one of the most considered mixes in this series' history.
IA MIX 399 Rob Clouth
2026/03/24
INTERVIEW + TRACKLIST > https://inverted-audio.com/mix/rob-clouth/
Rob Clouth returns with Cicada, a four-track EP that signals a shift toward a faster, more instinctive creative process, accompanied by an IA MIX that blurs the line between DJing and production. Built in Ableton at 160–170 BPM, the mix layers over 25 tracks using edits, stem separation and rapid transitions, resulting in a dense, high-energy session that reflects his current maximalist approach.
In conversation with Ryan Pivovar, Clouth discusses moving away from rigid concepts toward a more playful, process-driven workflow. Rather than over-curating, he’s focused on momentum, embracing spontaneity and letting ideas flow more freely.
The interview also explores his collaboration with Max Cooper, his thoughts on AI as both a creative tool and a challenge, and Noise Canvas, his self-built sound design software. Together, Cicada and the mix capture an artist loosening control, trusting instinct, and building toward a future album.

IA MIX 398 Intertoto
2026/02/16
INTERVIEW + TRACKLIST > https://inverted-audio.com/mix/intertoto
For IA MIX 398, @intertoto_music steps away from the traditional DJ format to deliver an exclusive live set composed of unreleased material and dubbed-out stems - a snapshot of a performance configuration currently taking shape. Immersed in a super dubby, murky atmosphere, the set gradually gives way to a handful of 4/4 excursions towards the closing stretch.
Keeping things deliberately minimal, the live setup centres around Ableton, recently expanded with Intech Studio MIDI controllers and coloured by a hands-on outboard effects chain. As Intertoto notes, even subtle shifts in processing can dramatically reshape the outcome - a philosophy that permeates the mix’s fluid, zoned-out energy. Recorded in the studio with headphones on, this is deep immersion: “some proper zoned out business…”
In our interview below, we speak with Intertoto about studio gear, the father of modern geology, the importance of texture, and the role of controlled randomness. Dive into the interview and IA MIX 398 - a fitting companion piece to Siccar Point.

IA MIX 396 Snad
2025/11/24
INTERVIEW + TRACKLIST > https://inverted-audio.com/mix/snad
@snad steps up to deliver IA MIX 396, accompanying a feature in which he reflects on the making of his new record AM Yard on @scissorandthread. He discusses the year-long experiments behind its hazy textures, the influence of his temperamental Ensoniq DP4, the late-night nods to Chez & Trent, and the hardware-driven workflow that shaped the record. Along the way, he opens up about Berlin’s shifting musical landscape, India’s rapidly evolving club culture, and the humour, accidents and curiosity that continue to guide his sound.
IA MIX 395 Intrusion
2025/11/05
INTERVIEW + TRACKLIST > https://inverted-audio.com/mix/intrusion
When Stephen Hitchell released The Seduction of Silence in 2009 under his Intrusion alias, the double-CD immediately established itself as a landmark in the dub techno continuum. Across deep, glacial chords, cavernous bass and hypnotic atmospheres, Hitchell expanded the Berlin/Detroit lineage into something spiritual and introspective – a meditative art form rooted in emotion, texture and stillness rather than club-function alone.
Sixteen years on, The Seduction of Silence returns in its most definitive form, with both Part 1 and Part 2 now finally available on vinyl for the first time. Remastered and cut by Stefan Betke (POLE), the records unlock new depth and dimensionality, offering a fully immersive experience for both longstanding admirers and new listeners.
Part 1 traces the genesis of Intrusion, sparked by Hitchell’s rediscovery of a Sequential Circuits Prophet 2000 sampler containing fragments of his ’90s experiments. Revived during a period of transition – long hours in record distribution, a move to Chicago’s lakeside, impending fatherhood – those sounds became the foundation for weighty yet introspective dub, heard vividly in Montego Bay and Intrusion Dub.
Part 2 carries a more expansive, improvisational feel, influenced by the late Phillip C. Hertz, Hitchell’s colleague at Crosstalk Distribution. Recorded through live jams and experimental sessions, this chapter drifts into deeper ambient-dub territory, paying tribute to collaboration, community and the fluidity of sound.
Together, both parts form a deeply personal document of life, art and devotion to sound. Alongside this feature, Hitchell shares a live recording from his New York debut at Public Records in July 2025, hosted by Zen/Echo – an intimate Intrusion performance in full analog drift.

IA MIX 394 Hame
2025/09/16
INTERVIEW + TRACKLIST > https://inverted-audio.com/mix/hame
Amsterdam-based producer and DJ Hame contributes to the IA MIX Series with a set that blends dubby textures, unreleased material, and tracks from artists including Martinou, Pango, and Leonel Castillo. In the interview, @hame-compathy reflects on his musical journey - from childhood instruments and early experiments with FL Studio to releases on labels like Noire & Blanche, Far Blue, and Project Indigo. He also shares the story behind @pintai growth, its sculptural and abstract visual identity, and the philosophy guiding the label’s carefully curated output.
IA MIX 393 Eden Aurelius
2025/07/01
INTERVIEW + MIX > https://inverted-audio.com/mix/eden-aurelius
For the 393rd edition of the Inverted Audio Mix Series, we are thrilled to present an hour-long sonic journey from @edenaurelius. Currently based in New York, Eden’s spent many years immersed in the DIY and club scenes of NYC and Chicago, her previous home before relocating two years ago.
Last year’s debut ‘Pleateau’ was one of our favourite releases of 2024. A potent mixture of ambient and dub techno, ‘Pleateau’ has only gotten better in the spin around the sun since it was released. It hooks you in with its unhurried rhythms that pulse with a vibrant spirit. The album feels like a welcome time out from the anxieties of constant connections and endless news cycles.
Along with recent output by Purelink (who are friends and collaborators), Eden’s work feels like an essential new chapter in the long, winding story of ambient dub. As Summer takes control, we caught up with Eden to talk about her musical beginnings, all time and current favourite albums, and upcoming projects.
IA MIX 392 Wrecked Lightship
2025/06/03
INTERVIEW + TRACKLIST > https://inverted-audio.com/mix/wrecked-lightship
Following the release of their second album last year, Adam Winchester and Laurie Osborne return as Wrecked Lightship on Peak Oil with their latest album 'Drained Strands', opening the hallowed doors of their submarine to all types of distorted fantasies.
As the name suggests, @wreckedlightship carries fractured memories of vessels forgotten in vast expanses, from the sea and beyond. The weight of their work conjures images of desolate landscapes beyond human reach, yet their invitation into this sonic vision becomes a ticket to inhabit the very space of extraterrestrials.
'Drained Strands' withholds a kind of extraordinary beauty that is more often felt than heard. This combined performance unit of solo acts Appleblim & Wedge exists in an untethered vortex - one built from scattered electronics and bruised hearts. All of this culminates in IA MIX 392, a studio mix where heavy scores of bass and a plethora of textures, some borrowed and some unheard, bubble together in a melting pot of comfort and disorder.
IA MIX 391 Marco Weibel
2025/05/19
INTERVIEW + TRACKLIST > https://inverted-audio.com/mix/marco-weibel
Singapore-born, now New York-based selector Marco Weibel (@marcoweibel) distills a potent transmission for IA MIX 391, a testament to the power of eclecticism when guided by a curator with impeccable taste. It plays like a tribute to NYC — soundtracking a drift through cities restless arteries, from the crates of Human Head to Myrtle Avenue epiphanies, culminating in a 3AM descent into a steam-filled noodle joint, where basslines hang in the air like ghosts on the glass.
IA MIX 390 Earthen Sea
2025/04/14
INTERVIEW + TRACKLIST > https://inverted-audio.com/mix/earthen-sea
For the 390th edition of the IA MIX Series we are thrilled to share a deep dive into jazzy neo-noir ambience from American producer Jacob Long, aka Earthen Sea.
Currently based in New York City, Long is a DIY lifer, with over twenty years dedicated to Earthen Sea's wide range of sounds from long-form noise and drone recordings, minimal dub techno, and ethereal ambient experimentation. Long spent his early musical years in the Washington, D.C. hardcore group Black Eyes, before heading to San Francisco with bandmate Daniel Martin-McCormick to work with Damon Palermo on Mi Ami.
While all three members branched off into their own solo electronic projects (Ital/Relaxer for Martin-McCormick and Magic Touch for Palermo), Long's work as Earthen Sea originated in the early 2000s. It began with longer experiments in drone and ambient before morphing into the icy dub techno many came to know from releases on Kranky and Lover's Rock.
Recent LPs, such as 2024's Recollection, have veered to ambient, dub, and jazz-influenced tracks that consistently deliver the goods. For his mix, Earthen Sea offers an exhilarating combination of gamelan recordings, jazz, and dub techno. You will find it an ideal companion for your morning coffee or a night drive through empty, foggy cities. We also got to catch up with Jacob and learn about reuniting with Black Eyes, how recent live sets have incorporated saxophone driven drones, and his life-long love of skateboarding.
